Nobody's mentioned it, so I will: The Extra Lens' "Undercard". I can't stop listening to this musically gorgeous & lyrically sharp album! It rocks and it doesn't. Nice ratio of both. Just such a wonderful & wickedly clever album. Sample lyric: "There was one thing I found that I couldn't help thinking, as they pried me free with the jaws of life None of this di- saster would ever have happened if I had not been driving my neighbor's wife to the Alta Loma Days Inn, where I'd registered us as..." hahaha, Darnielle can tell a good story. The Extra Lens is John Darnielle (of Mt. G

That's some very impressive generosity and some stellar fundraising! Thanks Jeff and Sue, you've brightened so many Christmasses over the years through your efforts!

Yes, but where? Out on the front lawn? In the apartment complex's main elevator? At Macy's, amongst the fine jewelry? Actually you're supposed to leave a leak, not so much "take" one.
-
Oh please. This is all you people have to leak?!! I don't believe it! We are going to need some more startling leaks if we hope to garner worldwide media attention.
-
Let's hope the press doesn't get wind of this & your neighbors learn the truth & you are forced to flee! Good one.
-
Following the bold example set by Wikileaks, I invite you to "take a leak" here. I'll start. My family has been calling my neighbor's motorcycle "The Fartmobile" for years. There, it's out. Go on, get those leaks off your chest and onto Via Chicago!

I have a pie iron around here someplace. Tell me more about this pizza. Where in So. CA? I love being able to go up to the mtns. for a snow day, without having to live in it! Today was rough. I don't think it even got above 80. Much more of this and the tomatoes will quit ripening. Footwear can be the answer to all of life's hardships, I think. I thought of another winter-ish thing I love...I don't have a fireplace but the neighbor does, and I love smelling the outdoor air when they have a nice wood fire going. Not so great when it occasionally turns out that the inv

People, does every flippin' thread have to be turned into an RTT? Isn't one "chat room" (RTT) enough for you all? Jeebus. I just had to read through like 4 pages of this tripe and now my eyes're bleeding.

My feeling is that this is a Jeff solo performance and as such, Jeff and Wilco would not want it posted. Sorry folks!

Oh think harder you grinchesque types!

I was thinking about this last night...I don't know if Winter is my favorite season, but I love it for so many reasons...the crisp, chilly nights where the stars practically pop out of the heavens, the trees gone bare and looking like fantastic sculptures, eggnog and cinnamon-scented pinecones for the fireplace (which we don't have) on sale at the market, UPS trucks rampaging through the streets importantly, spitting out gifts for somebody or other, rainy nights that make the streets shimmer with reflected lights... What do you love about it being wintertime? Share!

"Now we know the rate of change" Hahaha. Great stuff!

Ok, you've both said your piece and managed to do so civilly, but now let's leave this discussion for the sake of keeping on topic, since this thread is actually called "Taping the Tweedy Shows". Does anyone have an answer for dthedust about the Boulder Theatre's taping policies?

I get how you feel, but this sort of conversing is best kept to pm's rather than an everyone-can-read forum. My comments about keeping the dialogue civil were addressed not just to you, Nap, but rather to all of our members. Nobody needs to get snarky, and it's especially inappropriate, and unbecoming, on an all-ages board such as this. Am I gonna have to turn this car around? Love, kidsmoke

Easy, girl...no need to get personal. Let's all do our level best to keep the dialogue civil.

I don't ever mind hearing opinions either positive or negative, even when I strongly disagree. Discussion of the band's music is fine. It's the snarky posts made strictly to be snarky that make me crazy. The posters of these often seem to consider their posts to be witty and clever, but they're just...tiresome.

Oh yeah, me too, and virtually everything else he was ever in. RIP, Leslie.

I just got home from seeing them in L.A....a great show with a warm & receptive hometown crowd. Several of the new songs mentioned were played, including (of course)"Time Spent in L.A." Taylor & Griffin's dad was also in attendance, singing along to himself with every song, back by the soundboard. They were joined onstage for several songs by Jonathan Wilson and Dave Somebody (sorry, didn't catch it) and then wrapped up the encore with a big happy singalong with members of all three bands onstage. (Romany Rye/Moondoggies opened) I went with Brennan, and he got a very nice-sounding so

I've heard that's very good, Anthony. Let us know how you like it. I'm reading another Walter Mosley, "Big Bad Brawley Brown". Man can he weave a story! This one's an Easy Rawlins story. Great stuff, fast paced with no wasted words.

Cats wear shoes?! I don't believe you, you probably have a lovely singing voice. But you could always team up with someone else doing the singing, if you wanted to.
-
So you play, Josh? I'll expect your multitalented self on our next tribute album.
-
Agreed. Either that or "Sandwich".
-
Sarducci? Actually, "Sarducci" might make a cool band name.
