Hey Paul, and Arlene and all the rest of you Autumn Defense fans, have a look at this link: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=540150 It's Brennan's recording of the AD's set from the Solid Sound Festival, which he has just uploaded there. Brennan wishes Hunter Center (where they played) hadn't been such a "boomy" sounding venue, but I really like his recording. Arlene, you can listen here to "You Can't Have Me" and see if you recognize it as the last song you heard the other night. Great song!

Don't mind us, Crow...it's just some silliness from VC's days of yore. Silliness and nostalgia. Isn't that the truth!

Now Dave, don't go encouraging him with surprised emoticons...

:lol He's right you know, that's how you can tell a truly serious singer-alonger who if given the chance will howl along for an entire concert. (Move away if possible.) Funny, funny picture...Bren says thanks too! -
"Huntington Fair"...yes, very pretty! Did you see them at SSF, Barb? They did this song there, and it was really lovely, live.
-
Have a wonderful time, Arlene. They're great! I wonder when they'll make it to the West Coast?

Very cool! Thanks for posting. -
Brennan is talking about going out as Santa Claus. Small children are going to be so incredibly confused.

You packed a LOT into a short time! Your heads must be swirling with the memories. Can't wait to see some of your photos! I saw the Sistine Chapel years and years ago, and was pretty awe-struck. It's nothing like seeing photos of it in a book...one needs to see the full sweep of it to fully appreciate it, I think. Did you love the Forum?

I read it as Viva Chicanos and was merely trying to be supportive of the hispanic culture, and now here I am! Hi Mr. Belvedere, how's that sweet little bundle of baby of yours?

Do some of you remember Bella Alucard Baghdog?
kidsmoke replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Oh, Bea, I hope your Rita will be fine! It sounds as though you are doing everything possible to care for her. The love of a dog really brings out the best in people, makes them give all the love they have to give! "The smile of God"...yes, Bella had that. What a beautiful expression! Thank you to everyone who's been so kind and thoughtful. You warm my heart. I'm better now that we've given Bella a lovely little family burial, tucked into a favorite spot of hers in our backyard. We cried our eyes out, but the little ceremony helped. -
....of a beautiful, new little Tribute, officially having entered the world at 5:35 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27th. Weight, a few ounces. Length, 5 1/2". Width, 5". (When bundled in its case.) Labor was long, about 5 months, and featured a great deal of wailing, complaining, and yes, a bit of swearing, but everything came out just fine in the end. The proud parents (the song contributors) are resting comfortably on their laurels, as well they should be! Early visitors have remarked on the Tribute's plump round form, it's flatness and shiny top layer. It is utterly bald and it is hoped this

Do some of you remember Bella Alucard Baghdog?
kidsmoke replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Thanks so much for all the love and affection, everyone. Her grave is almost finished...of course the ground was like rock, despite the recent rains. My boys are digging the last bit now by floodlight, and then we'll lay her to rest with a few of her favorite things: a well-gnawed tennis ball, a few walnuts, a handful of the cats' kibble she loved so much, and even a dead june bug that Alissa found yesterday, lying in one of the holes Bella had dug for herself under a bush. There was a walnut there, too. Apparently she saved her favorite little dog treasures there. Already I'm trying to look -

Thanks, Edie & Wendy. Bella gave more to us than we could ever give back. Such a love. -
Here she is, on the left, with her pal Curly on the right. She was sunshine in the form of a dog. Bella wandered into our lives in March, 2003, meandering down our block wagging to herself. She had no collar so when we saw her lingering around, we brought her into our yard to prevent her from possibly getting hit by a car. It took less than a day before her sweet, gentle disposition had the whole family falling in love with her. Our only dog at the time, Curly, didn't like many other dogs, but Bella he attached to immediately as if she were a long-lost litter mate (but clearly no, see pho

That sounds fascinating, Kate! I'm putting it on my reading list now. I wonder if it was written prior to the case of Jaycee Dugard and her 2 daughters, born in captivity to her kidnapper. (Jaycee's mom worked at a local high school where my husband was also working, right up until Jaycee was found. Of course she left when jaycee was found, to care for her daughter & granddaughters.) It's hard to imagine how the world looks to someone raised in so constrained a space! I'm reminded of that awful case with multiple children in Germany, or maybe Czechoslovakia? Those poor kids also lived like

That looks intriguing, Kate! What's it about? Any T.C. Boyle fans here? I've been on a grand T.C. Boyle binge. What an amazing writing range the guy has. I've just read "Budding Prospects" (about a group of guys who decide to farm marijuana in a remote area of Northern CA....some very funny shit) and "The Road to Wellville", about the Kellogg (he of the cornflake) sanitarium of Battle Creek, MI, in the early 1900's, and the health movement of the times. And all the bizarre hucksters trying to get in on the breakfast food craze, and all the even more bizarre "health" treatments being used. Wo
