  1. This jaunty beauty may be Jeff's funniest song ever! I can already imagine it live. And it tells a story I think every pandemic couple can understand!
  2. It really, really was. I was almost teary-eyed, it was that sublime.
  3. I was going to watch "casually" as I had a bunch of paperwork to get done. Not a chance. I sat glued to my computer chair, mentally inside the Auditorium Theatre with that rapturous audience, for the entire show, paperwork untouched. Enthralling. Swept me right back to seeing them for the very first time in March, 2002. the songs sounded fresh and as magical as when they were new.
  4. So in moments overwhelmed by my emotions, I have a tendency to write bad poetry without metre or rhyme ( show of hands?) So I give you this doggerel that sprung from me after tonight's passionate livestream. I love that 20 years on, I'm still as besotted as ever. Love you, Wilco. Long may you run. 💗 "I came in A little late. Technology, first world problems Frustrated But then the dark and the violins And the calm And I started to soften. Relax. Jeff snapping on the radio Is glued to my brain, A perfect moment in time
  5. One of my most treasured possessions for the past two decades. Thanks always, my Wilcos! Snoozy as hell even 20 years later...I get sleepy just glancing at it! *yawn*
  6. So here we are, twenty years on from this gorgeous, enthralling, transcendent album. I remember it burning in my brain for weeks, months, like candle that couldn't be put out...it was always still a live ember back there, whatever I was doing. The songs felt like breathing. They mattered, they had to be sung. They had to be sung along to. They had to be surrounding us, live. Like breathing; it felt essential. It was. Tell me about how YHF affected you. Whether you heard it new, or years later. Tell me a story or a memory. I remember the discussion on this board over th
  7. Do you have to be in Chicago to buy these? Damn. Chicago friends, if the spirit moves you, I'd love some beer and cereal & will happily reimburse all costs. But don't 47 of you send.
  8. That was painful to read, on the day a nutcase FL judge decided mask mandates on planes aren't necessary. We are SO not out of the woods yet.
  9. Well if that performance didn't stir your bones, don't even claim to be a Wilco fan. Who's with me? Sooooo beautiful, so moving. Damn.
  10. What a generous offer! I can't make it but I hope somebody else gets to enjoy those!
  11. ... and happy Easter or whatever Spring celebration you honor, as we glory in the Earth renewing itself. Windows open again, we all reconnect a little...music sounds energizing & happy... I hope Spring is giving all of you a hopeful spirit. We are about to officially celebrate the 20th anniversary of YHF. That album moved us all, powerfully. Let's look at where we are now. Who we are, now. And let's be hopeful and determined right now in the world & in our everyday lives. Happy Pink Moon!
  12. This beauty arrived today. I love the astronaut image. Pretty cool; thanks Jeff! Very shiny! *PSA don't put these metallic finish cups in a microwave! It won't end well.
  13. I'm sorry to hear this, but I understand...I pulled out of going to SBS for the same reason. Thanks for generously considering other fans!
  14. Far too young to be gone. Sympathy to all who loved him. RIP.
  15. Love this. The Ukrainians make me ashamed of all my whining about first-world-type problems...and proud of the human spirit. We know they will prevail in the end but it's horrific watching them being brutalized. Putin's own turn is coming though, and probably in the form of being fragged by his own countrymen. If I were him, I'd stay out of any tall buildings, since a surprising number of Russians seem to fall to their deaths.
  16. So I'm beginning to think toward ssf7, and decided to do a bit of organizing of my travel gear. It's obvious I've been to all 6 previous ssf's because I have literally 8 rain ponchos, a couple of scotchguarded hats, and a plastic zippered bag to contain my backpack in a deluge. I'm prepped! If anybody needs a poncho at #7, just give a holler. I'll pack a spare. Let's go, rain!
  17. I wish I could be there! Have a magnificent party, Gorman!
  18. Russia has abandoned all pretense of civility today. The world needs to stop Putin. This is more painful to watch than the pandemic was...is. This is a nightmare of unrelenting agony.
  19. I need to read this! He writes beautifully.
  20. With Solid Sound ahead, I've decided I wanted to read Michelle Zauner's autobiography, detailing her young adulthood with her Korean mother, and her mother's passing from cancer. Michelle is Japanese Breakfast. Has anyone else read this? I'm about 2/3rds through the book, and I'm so in love with her writing! She is a gifted, insightful writer as well as a talented musician. It's a book I'm enjoying so much that I'm already sorry it will inevitably end. So human, so moving. So powerful! "Crying In H Mart", by Michelle Zauner.
  21. Horrifying developments. Putin has lost it completely & doesn't care. It's seriously scary.
  22. That's a bleak assessment but I think you're probably right. Meanwhile, Ukranian genocide happening. 😔
  23. Terrific review! I could put myself right inside that audience from your detailed description. Thanks!
