  1. Ben folds admits to leaking his "fake" album. Rolling Stone article: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/225...it_ben_folds_co I think he might have turned some people off with these fake songs though. They sound just enough like real, albeit sucky, songs that people might have been turned off from buying the album. I know I was!
  2. Thanks for the info. I hope Jay does well. I didn't care much for his last two releases. He needs a foil/partner like Edward. I always find it humerus to read how artists describe themselves. Jay, or maybe his manager, say on his MySpace page that he sounds like "Elvis Costello mixed with Tom Waits, with a hint of The Replacements and Nick Lowe."
  3. I loved "ZOO TV: LIVE FROM SYDNEY" but that's probably just because I never got to see them on that tour.
  4. Yeah, probably not much. It'll be nice to see it again though considering I don't have a working VHS player any longer! Weren't the ZooTV and Popmart video releases shot on videotape also? They turned out pretty good on DVD. Do you have the version with "Send in the Clowns"? I wonder which version the remaster will be? My guess is that back in 1983 the band just didn't have the funds for the licensing for the song, not that they weren't allowed to use it. They just couldn't justify paying for it!
  5. Details emerging on the remaster/DVD release of Under a Blood Red Sky. http://www.uncut.co.uk/news/u2/news/11979 Release date: September 29 CD, DVD and DVD/CD combo to be released. 5 tracks not on the origional VHS release are to be added to DVD. Out Of Control Twilight An Cat Dubh Into The Heart Two Hearts Beat As One Very cool.
  6. I tracked it down. If anyone is interested send me a PM.
  7. Didn't he already try a concept album once? "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner" had a psuedo concept album kind of feel to it. In mu opinion, it failed miserably. I agree about "Songs for Silverman". I'll likely buy this album, but won't be expecting a lot from it. Maybe I'll be surprised. Anyone have copies of the recently leaked tracks?I'd love to hear the rest. EDIT: Ben posted "Bitch Went Nutz" on his Myspace page. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...riendid=9158119 Uhhhh...................ok.
  8. I'd love to hear this new song that the band has been playing. Anyone have an MP3 (or FLAC or SHN) of it from one of the recent shows that they could post?
  9. Official new album release date Sept 30th. http://www.benfolds.com/ You can hear ""Hiroshima (B B B Benny Hit His Head)" on his facebook page or on imeem. Hum........................not much there. I'm hoping the rest of the tracks are better. Way to Normal 1. Hiroshima (B B B Benny Hits His Head) 2. Dr. Yang 3. The Frown 4. You Don't Know Me (featuring Regina Spektor) 5. Before Cologne 6. Cologne 7. Errant Dog 8. Free Coffee 9. Bitch Went Nuts 10. Brainwascht 11. Effington 12. Kylie from Connecticut

  11. Thanks for the post. i missed him the last time he was in Indy. Maybe I'll try to hit this show. The recording of the last Indy Murat show was incredible.
  12. The reported title for either the album or the first single is No Line on the Horizon http://www.atu2.com/newalbum/ http://www.atu2.com/ They supposedly finished recording on June 28th and the album is expected on November 18th. They've been working with some of their studio favorites, Danial Lanois, Brian Eno and Steve Lillywhite. We'll see. I thought How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb had its moments, but was overall disappointing. I really enjoyed Vertigo, Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own, All Because of You and Crumbs from Your Table. Love and Peace or Else and Yahweh came off much
  13. Did you pick up any of these Analogman? I grabbed "Boy." Sounds great and the booklet is nice too. The rest can wait. My local Best Buy only had one copy of each of them on display. Not a real high traffic item I guess. I am looking forward to the "Under a Blood Red Sky" DVD/CD set I've heard rumors of in September.
  14. Amazon has Boy and War listed for $27.99 and October for $29.99. Why the difference, I have no idea. So, that's $85.97 vs. $63.99. That's about a 25% savings. Not too shabby! Bestbuy.com has them all listed at $19.99, or $59.97 total. So, that's a little cheaper still.
  15. The remastered albums are now available streaming audio here: http://www.imeem.com/u2music On Boy, the track Saturday Night is an early version of "Fire" and "Speed of Life" is an instrumental. On War "Angels too tied to the ground" sounds OK, but the vocal is definitely a recent track. Check'm out. Also, Amazon.com has a cool deal. All 3 remasters, plus a case/sleeve big enough for them plus a 4th for $63.99 http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Box-Set-Amazo...id=F0EZX6QIQJQ8
  16. Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard about this. I've been a Ben Folds fan since the first BFF album. I saw "The Five" at the Vogue in Indy. Great show. Then saw them again during the Reinhold Messner era at the IU auditorium. Horrible show. The third time was solo Ben back at the Vogue supporting Rockin' the Suburbs. I recommend as a primer, "Whatever and Ever Amen" for BFF and "Rockin' the Suburbs" for Ben solo. but you can't go wrong with the self titled "Ben Folds Filve" album. Fantastic. And of course there's the Ben Fold Live album which will give you a taste of lots of stuff, even
  17. Anyone use blogger? I've been having problems with Firefox and the blogger layout tool. I always have to use IE. Annoying.
  18. So, I left my home town at 18 when I went to college. I've spent a few months there in the summer and visiting family. I haven't lived there in 15 years. Since then, I've graduated from two colleges, lived in 3 different cities and worked as a professional for almost a decade. I have a job interview in my home town on July 7th. I'm really torn. It could be a pay raise and definitely an increase in responsibility and varied experiences, but the city isn't very progressive and I think everything would be an uphill battle. My parents are getting older and it would be nice for my son to live near
  19. No problems here with Yahoo Mail and FF3
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com/Wilco-Poster-Yankee-Ho...7QQcmdZViewItem Saw this on e-bay. 12"x24" promo poster.
  21. First off, great thread. My wife and I have been talking about this very thing lately. Since someone mentioned Kermit, I don't feel as silly mentioning this. Anyone know "When the River Meets the Sea" from Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas? My mom has always said she wants it played at her funeral. A great, sad song. I just wish I could find a recording of someone other than a Muppet performing it........... As for me, I'm still working on my list, but it will definitely include both Dixieland Jazz Funeral style songs and good old fashioned bluegrass spirituals.
  22. Yeah, those early performances had a great energy to them. I was 6, so I don't remember seeing it when it was first aired. I became a fan when the Joshua Tree videos were on heavy rotation on MTV, soon after my family first got cable! The band would have been 20/21 in 1981, but they look younger, don't they?!
  23. That Year = Smells Like Team Spirit? Really? I sort of hear it................. I has a similar list like this one of Son Volt and Uncle Tupelo tracks if anyone is interested. I added 2 tracks from the Ian Hunter Album "Shrunken Heads" that I had missed before.
