It’s funny I was just thinking king of this place Friday as I was at the Calvin in Northampton ma seeing nada surf and that was where I first met other VCers in the wild in 03 or 04 before a Wilco show. Then I get drawn back here today.

So awesome! Happy anniversary! I can honestly say this place and the friendships it led to changed my life. So many good people, so many good memories! Viva via Chicago!

My love for this record can not be expressed. It took everything i love about wilco and married it with with the aspect of Loose Fur and Tweedy that I love so much. That confident, off-hand but complex, greasy guitars, instinctive melodies. God Damn this is good. Its been forshadowed enough (i might, LF, Tweedy) to feel right, but is enough of a departure to feel really exciting at the same time. More.., RNG, Satellite, Ceiling, Begin, Slope, King(the most loose fur of all), and magnetized all are amoung my all time favorite tweedy songs already. Can't wait for intereviews and backstory on th

ha - no one submitted video? i had a whole thing just about ready to go but figured "eh, they'll be so overwhelmed with submissions" and never sent it, figures. still - i think there was some reason beyond a lack of footage that they were limited in the stage setup. that said - i think the lighting they did use was fantastic.

not the best sound - but here's The Rationales:

Anyone going to the Handsome Family in Boston tonight?
MeDave replied to MeDave's topic in Just A Fan
you guys seeing them this weekend are in for a treat - they were so good and SO much fun. probably my favorite stage dynamic ever - and dasmn - the songs are amazing. it was so cool to get to see them in such a cool bar - let alone share a bill with them. -
The Handsome Family are doing a pre-Solid Sound club set tonight at the Rosebud Bar in Davis Sq. Somerville if anyone is around. show starts at 745pm with yours truly. Hope to see you! thanks, D

ah hahahaha. same thing here. I have lamented Not ever seeing beulah for years. now i find out that i did. awesome.

funny - i was at the boston show (admittedly my first time seeing them) and was pretty blown away - not at every turn (and agreed on fire away) (though that other new song - burn easy(?) that they played before western syline was amazing). a lot of the newer stuff sounds like jackson brown to me - not all a bad thing, just an observation.

my band - after a year of recording a bit here or there when we have money come in from a gig ($20-40 a pop) are just about finished tracking our new record - and after thinking and researching and debating, we've decided to try to save ourselves another year before we can mix/master/dupe and try goin with Kickstarter if you don't know about it - its a pretty cool model, powered by amazon the band sets the goal they need to raise (say $5k) and then you set up price points where you give various rewards ($5 for a download single, $50 for a signed record, plus merch and tix, $300 for a house

i've been trying to remember their name for years. thanks. and ftr - that was definitely one of my favorite wilco shows ever.

well, sing a little more gentle is not quite the same thing as releasing a song that sound like something air supply rejected.

"the Ms" opened on the agib tour and were supposed to do a pines theater show (in 08?) but the autumn defense had to fill in when the Ms got delayed at the Canadian border

similar story here - no recollection of what year but it was a buffalo tom show in the 90s i'm sure - he just jumped up onstage between encores and started screaming into the mic - i just remember thinking - 'why is no one throwing this nut out?" so many great memories and so many great tributes online - a true original.
