  3. man, that sounds like a terrific place!
  4. "artist's rendering?" ahh, thank you for elaborating a bit. i really did want to see this show. i think my whirlwind trip to athens, ga last week left me ripe for getting sick. still, that trip was worth every cough and tissue. JE NE REGRET RIEN! so this week...will you be seeing any shows? i've got helio sequence, sondre lerche and apples in stereo lined up. the new job may have me miss one or two, but i'm going to do my best to see them all. the odds are in my favor for helio and apples: they are both at spaceland/echo. super close to home, and late starting clubs. oh!
  5. glad you're having a good time! the palmer house is a terrific place to stay. the last time i was in chicago i got downtown briefly. ahh, chicago. i am carrying an unused 5 day cta pass in my wallet, just in case...
  6. anodyne--BIG TEACHING GIG VIBAGE TO YOU!! :dancing you speak the truth. (i have a few bottles o'the black butte in my fridge. sigh. )
  7. ben, that jambalaya looks ROCKIN'! and that fried chicken. good lord. now eating: last night's sausage and mushroom pizza, reheated in the oven. yum!
  8. devilled eggs! bundt cake!! wotta night! so sorry to have missed the soiree at edie and scott's. and after reading all this, you guys can look for me in ft. wayne, too. wendy, donna was this the first time that you've met face to face?! WOO!
  9. this dress is pretty close to what i was wearing: i unpacked the dress yesterday (busy week... ). in many places the lace is decimated. i knew that whatever i wore would get destroyed (beer, moshing, etc.), but i was suprised at how destroyed. whew! for the record: have been binge-ing on these shows all week. :dancing
  10. donna! this review is a bit...um...brief. no mentions of pudding, no pictures. hmm. sorry i missed this one. thanks for the call. i was laid out last weekend with some virus. lame!
  11. where did they play in norman? i have a friend there, sometimes visit, and am wondering where the kids go to hear the groovy tunes.
  12. mitts off, lou!! holy cats, these shows sound like stunners!! LUCKY LUCKY KIDS!!
  13. the monday morning after wilcoworld streamed the album i heard "impossible germany" on the local college station. the dj played several selections from the album all during his show.
  14. i just think of the dork who was supposed to pick up that weed. bummer, dude.
  15. maudie this post is a capsule of why you are the wind beneath my wings: in one post you mentioned a labor leader in your city and getting a pedicure. this is what makes san francisco a great city. UNION! PEDICURE!! two things near and dear to my heart. HOORAY FOR THE PARADE! and, i am going to be picking up "looking for jimmy." great book tips!
  16. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUDY!! to vancouver's #1 purveyor of random canadiana, and sloan's #1 publicist! ps. will hannah be up for road tripping when wilco hits the road this summer?
  17. thanks for the head's up, susan! too bad this "employment" thing will keep me in california that week.
  18. ah! thanks for the reminder on the roches' lp! last winter they did a series of xmas shows as a trio--first time they've toured as such in a LONG time. when i saw them in december they performed Hammond Song (!!). i teared up revelling in the beauty and nostalgia of the whole thing. how we love them
  19. AND THERE WAS MUCH REJOICING! pneyu: these words were ringing in my head at the start of this week as trip plans came into focus: "keep you eye on the prize!" sage advice, my friend.
  20. SOURCE LIST!! ghost dirigible...oooooooohhhhh
  21. bridget, sounds like one hell of a show! note to self: check out spinto band...
  22. YES!! is there any mention of jeff davis, ghost train engineer?
  23. yeah, if only those boys would display a sense of humor every once in a while... wendy, on night one i didn't go in costume, but i did wear a custom "ba-ba-bananas-nanas" t-shirt commemorating the cover of careless whisper on NYE. night 2 i was wearing a late 50's lace party dress. with converse low tops. girl's gotta dance. i think i might wear dresses with big skirts to all shows. the dancing was terrific! on night one the band came on stage in the tuxes AND silver molded foam pompadours. dapper! also on night one: they played "dancing in the moonlight", the king harvest song.
  24. RLAMF: rock like a mother fucker. **this is a cut and paste of the notes i posted on the mmj board. MIND BLOWING SHOW!! AHHHHH!! of note: the band were all sporting different color tuxedos. patrick--red, carl--orange, tommy--lt blue, bo--orange, jim--pink** ok. because i have to shower, pack and leave for atlanta in one hour i am JUST GOING TO POST THE SETLIST. really. i mean it. let's see how this works out... --intro music a calypso piece --one big holiday --wonderful man --gideon **next to all three of these songs i wrote in all caps: BLOWING OUT!! GODDAMN!! --low
