Although I'm actually headed out to the Thunderbirds Are Now! show in about 20 minutes anyway. But this is a nice way to wind down between work and the show.

President Bush takes on the income gap

If history tells us anything, it's that asking politely for businesses to change their practices without offering them any sort of incentive to do so works every time. -
Considering it's a pretty inoccuous statement, the media is going pretty hard on him, I think. That sentence out of context is questionable, but not offensive. In context, not really questionable. His statement about Indians at convenience stores was far worse. Either way, he's not a real contender so it doesn't matter.

Yes. What's wrong with you people? "Achin' to Be" is the best song on that album and it isn't even really close. (IMO of course)

I don't know that he's officially done with that. I think he's just been out on tour a lot.

Best song ever = "Heroin" Anyway... My favorite Replacements song is "Bastards of Young", but it's really tough to argue against "Achin' to Be". Great, great song.

Has anyone mentioned Lou Reed's "The Bed" or "The Kids"? Actually the entire Berlin album really, but those two songs in particular.

I voted that I'm a compromiser, but it really depends. I've had sleeping problems for quite a while, so I sometimes try something different on really rough nights. Anyone else here a slave to Melatonin like I am?

Everyone would like health care better than what Canadians get. I'm sure Canadians do too. Because everyone would like perfect health care, but that's of course not possible. Whenever the issue of the U.S. government in some way getting more involved in health care, people always try to deride the Canadian system in efforts to prove that the U.S. shouldn't do something similar. First of all, well, the Canadian system seems to work fine anyway from this outsider's point of view. But secondly, it's a pointless comparison anyway, because Canada's healthcare system is not the only possible so

MLB already has a ton of anti-trust exemptions (which is why Congress was somewhat able to stiff arm them regarding steroids -- the threat of losing these exemptions would be catastrophic to Major League Baseball). I'm sure their TV distribution rights are all tied to that.

Bush: "I'm the decision-maker" on Iraq

No, but it is a paradox. -
I don't think anyone would make the argument that you have an absolute right to credit cards on the same level as your right to access to health care. This slope ain't that slippery.
