Not really. All that article makes the case for is that wins/losses are extremely team-based statistics. Ryan's winning percentage vs. his team's percentage is also misleading there. If they want to prove anything, it should be the team winning percentage in games that Ryan isn't pitching. He brings the team percentage up significantly. There are some okay arguments against him, but wins/losses isn't it.

I hate all 3. If I had to pick one song though, "Stranglehold" beats anything Seger or Ryder have ever done, but only if you're drunk.

I hate how on TV they keep emphasizing how great/lucky the defense was in making this no-hitter happen...not that it isn't true, but it's too obvious to bother spending that much time on. Every no-hitter, ever, has been aided by great/lucky defense. It's impossible to have a no-hitter without it.

Went to the Cubs/Giants game. Bought this ticket pretty much just to boo Barry Bonds. That was fun. Bonds also hit a homerun. So I got to experience booing him, and seeing him hit a tater. That's about all I could ask for in a game between two teams I don't care about. I love baseball.

Verlander was bad in his 3-4 starts last year, but obviously excellent this year. I dont' put a lot of stock in a few appearances that a player makes before he is ready. If that guy has dominated in the minors, though, it is a good indication that he should dominate in the majors. Only rarely does a guy get lit up in AA and be great in the majors. Well, I think looking at numbers means more than traditional scouting, but both are really necessary to really know how good a player may turn out to be. The prime example is when it comes to pitching. The numbers are more indicative than traditional scouting when determing just how well hitters will be able to hit a guy. But at the same time, traditional scouting is still necessary. If you have two pitchers with similar minor league stats, you have to look at who has the better mechanics. And then once you do that, you have to decide whether the guy with the worse mechanics will become

For the record, I think that the rift among baseball fans is stupid. A lot of fans who value more traditional stats think that sabermatricians don't love the the game in the same way that they do. I think that this is stupid. Following the game in a different way has no berring on how much a fan loves the game. Likewise, a lot of sabermatricians think that fans who still value more traditional fans are stupid. And I hate that too. I generally favor a lot of the newer stats as I feel like they do a better job of really encompassing everything players can do to contribute to their team.

I do feel like the vast majority of the great clutch hitters in the game were great in non-cluth situations too. A great hitter is a great hitter.

I don't know that there are a lot of people who say clutch hitting does not exist. Those who trust traditional baseball stats/ideas say, yes, clutch hitting absolutely exists. Sabermatricians in general say, "maybe". I think personally I split the difference. Most players play roughly the same regardless of the situation, but there seem to be some players who do play significantly better/worse in clutch situations.
