What's he playing on this tour?

If Hillary gets the nomination, whether or not I will vote for her will depend on the circumstances under which she got it. If she somehow does manage to bring both the popular vote and pledged delegate tally to within a close enough margin for it to really be a tossup for the super delegates, then I will vote for her, though begrudgingly. But if Obama goes into the convention still with reasonably significant leads in both the popular vote and in pledged delegates, and the superdelegates decide to award the nomination to her anyway, then I may vote third party or not vote. Even though I c

Absolutely. The youth vote never turns out in quite the way they're predicted to every single election cycle. But I don't think that that means that we shouldn't even bother considering it's effects. Obama may bring out some new voters and he may not. Hillary almost certainly will not.

It's absurd that Tiger Stadium remained standing as long as it did. It wasn't being maintained, and uses up a huge piece of land. But it still makes me sad to see it go. Lots of great memories there. I will have to go pay my last respects. For those who are interested, today Uniwatch linked this collection of recent Tiger Stadium pictures. Apparently the city let a small group of photographers in within the last couple of weeks and there are a lot of great shots there. A lot of it looks just like I remember it, but there's also a lot of things crumbling, and some plants growing in seat

This is true, though (purely anecdotally), it sure seems as though young people are a lot more excited about Obama than anyone was about Kerry.

I love both Toadies albums. I actually think I like Hell Below/Stars Above a bit more than Rubberneck. The title track is amazing, and all though it doesn't have as many highlights as Rubberneck, it's a lot more consistent from front to back. I caught them live twice, once opening for RHCP in I think 1996, and then again just before they broke up in 2001.

Polls = calling people on the phone = you need a land line = not too many younger voters polled. I honestly have no idea how much this might skew the results, but I have to think it's at least a little bit.

I was thinking that Bush carried PA in '04. In light of the fact that Kerry in fact won there, I guess I'm a little more confident that Clinton would win in PA. A lot of it will depend on how well McCain's political metamorphosis over the last 8 years is portrayed in the press or if he will just be portrayed as the independent maverick whatever that he was thought to be in 2000. I still think that in the fall, Obama is the better candidate in most states than Clinton is. Most importantly, he is more likely to bring out new voters. I think a lot of people see McCain and Clinton as two s

That sucks so bad. I hope he lands somewhere soon. Somewhere where I can hear him.

Because the party primary is not the same as a general election. She would lose PA in the general (Obama might too) as well as several other states that Obama would have a good chance of winning.

Thanks everyone.

Looks like Miguel Cabrera's days as the Tigers thirdbaseman are over.

What an adorable little future Wolverine.

Did the Cubs throw the 1918 World Series?

I'll believe it when I see it. It seems like the Replacements reunion rumors are a yearly ritual, and they never materialize into anything.

I love that song, but didn't mention it because I don't think it's ever been on the radio much.

I don't know how to deal with the cleaning issue, but as for the jealousy, I have a recommendation. I believe it's spelled menage a trois?

I predict Clinton by 4.

I think most teams would benefit from a bullpen ace model instead of relying so heavily on save situations. And I think a lot of guys would be happy with that role. If the closer is your best relief pitcher, which on most teams he is, he'd be of better use in certain tough situations earlier in the game. He should be used more frequently in tie games or games where you're down a run, and less frequently with a 3 run lead with one out in the 9th. Those are the situations where you really need your best guy. Anyone in your bullpen should be able to be relied upon to hold a 3 run lead for 1

I understand easing younger guys into heavier workloads, but I'm not sure why it would be such a big deal to change him to the rotation at this point. It's only a couple weeks into the season, and they can start him off on low pitch counts at first.
-
That's absolutely true. But I think that is kind of accounted for in considering how good he is. Joba throws 4 pitches, so he sounds like a good candidate to start.

To me it's pretty simple. You want your best pitchers pitching as many innings as possible without injuring them (or fatiguing them to the point that they're not longer good). If a pitcher is awesome, make him a starter and use him for 200 innings. If he's not quite that good, use him as one of your main bullpen guys for 60 or 80 innings. If he sucks, then you stick him in the back end of the bullpen. Yeah, you want some guys in your bullpen who are going to not give up leads, but the ability to pitch one good inning every 2 days is not as helpful to your team as the ability to pitch 6-8
