Charles Johnson caught 3? Weird.
-
I'm pretty sure that that ties Varitek for no hitters caught, although I can't remember who it was who held that record so I can't be certain that that is right.

So when is this album supposed to be coming out?

I like that guy.

What's the price of gas where you are?
MrRain422 replied to Twisted Acres's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Went past a couple stations yesterday that were $4.25/gallon. -
That's because you aren't the intended audience. The people targeted by things like that know exactly who it's referencing.

Right. But he also has 2 career sac bunts. And, since he was batting 7th for some reason, the catcher and pitchers spot in the order are coming up after him. You want him to bunt to move the runner over so that one of those guys, or a bench player pinch hitting, has to drive the winning run in? Also, although Dunn does strikeout and homer a lot, he also walks a lot. He's not exactly an out machine despite the low batting average.

Awesome band

So awesomely bad that Dusty wanted Adam Dunn to sac bunt last night.

They should get David Eckstein.

In that district in Mississippi, Bush got something like 65% of the vote in 2004, yet the Dem dominated the special election, in which the Republican candidate ran a campaign based on trying to link his opponent to Obama and Pelosi. Definately a great sign for the Dems in regards to the mood of the nation come this fall's election.

Uniwatch covered this today actually. Did a little breakdown of the difference between the Nats hats and the old Senators hats. Came to the conclusion that the Rangers were in fact wearing Nats hats though, and asked for some clarification. Might come within the next day or two.

A really good point. Hadn't thought of that.

Also, if you haven't noticed, our roads and bridges are crumbling. Money for infrastructure comes from that gas tax. Where do you plan on driving to spend that $30 if the roads collapse?
-
No, it's better that the government find real solutions to problems instead of bandaid solutions that don't really fix anything. Also, if the gas tax was eliminated, what do you think the chances are that the gas companies will see it as an opportunity to raise the price of gas? I say about 120%.

Colts' Marvin Harrison involved in shooting
MrRain422 replied to tugmoose's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Apparently Harrison is a member of the Pacers now. -
Other than truckers, it wouldn't even save money for very many people. On average I bet most people would save like maybe $25 or $30 over the course of the summer.

So what you're saying is, this guy isn't as bad as the worst band in the world. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. He's only the second worst!

Gotta love a sweep in the Bronx. The early season woes appear to be over.

Of course the press isn't going to cover this though, because the culprits here are the MSM themselves. Should be the biggest story everyone's talking about though.

Nevada's odd way to fix the state budget!
MrRain422 replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
It's kind of bullshit for them to come out with this so far after the fact, but I think some states have laws regarding things like this on the books already, in which case it isn't quite so ridiculous. In Michigan, for example, every year there are a few people who try to go ice fishing too early in the year before the ice is thick enough and end up stuck on an ice floe in the middle of one of the Great Lakes and need to be rescued. So a couple of years ago they passed a law that you only get one free rescue for something like that -- if you're dumb enough to get stuck on an ice floe a secon -
I don't think it was a "vote for which stadium has the greatest tradition" type of question though. It was "How good do you think the tradition is in this ballpark. Select poor, average, above average, great" and then the rankings were based on the average response. So it's not that Red Sox fans voted for Fenway over Yankee Stadium, it's that Red Sox fans are happier with Fenway than Yankees fans are with Yankee Stadium. I bet if you asked Yankees fans if Yankee Stadium was better than Fenway, they'd all say yes.
-
Keep in mind that unlike the way they did those stadium rankings a few years ago, it is now done exclusively by fan vote. So yeah, Red Sox fans rank the tradition of their ballpark more favorably than Yankees fans score the tradition of their ballpark. But it's pretty arguable. I mean, I bet there's more "tradition" at Shea (#19 in the tradition rankings, built in 1964 and has seen a couple World Series) than at PNC park (#10 in the tradition rankings, built in 2001, saw...an All Star Game I guess). But the fans in Pittsburgh are happier with the tradition of their ballpark than the fan

I'm tempted to check it out for the purpose of ridicule, but I think I'll restrain myself.
