  1. I curious what's gonna be on the 'best of' Fare Thee Well disc. I kind wish they did a 'Dead Set' and edited the songs. I know, anathema. BTW, Sunshine Garcia has a band with Stu Allen. Saw a video of her doing Eyes. She plays flute and it's great! https://vimeo.com/127117385 I will never understand why the Boys never picked Stu. He's the only Garcia-style dude that can actually play a compelling solo IMHO. Love him.
  2. There are some great elements. I love her guitar playing and sound. Her singing is like a female Lou Reed. I'd like to hear what Tweedy would do as her producer.
  3. I always seemed to see naked people being taken away in handcuffs at shows. Not pleasing to the eye usually. FYI-looks like the FTW interlude music is being released. Interlude For The Dead-Circle Around The Sun.
  4. The snippets I've heard, I've liked. Dare I say, he fits in better than any other I've heard/seen. I do not care for Mayer's singing, though. But, yeah, I'm curious. I'll be looking for recordings of tomorrow night's show. If I feel up to it, I'll head over to the show here in Atlanta and try for a cheap ticket.
  5. That's true. There were some good tunes on that album. Some of the production was not my cup of tea. The tune Circuital was good. Evil Urges had some good stuff, but was kind of weighed down by the 'experimental' stuff. Isn't there another album coming out fairly soon?
  6. Missed this. Hopefully a DVD release. I've really enjoyed the recent album.
  7. Saw them in '03 I believe. They were supporting It Still Moves. Those first few albums were some of the best of the decade. They lost me with Evil Urges. I wish Yim Yames would take himself more seriously. (I know, I'm probably inciting a riot with that last statement)
  8. His bass playing was so great under Clapton's leads. Kind a mix of Lesh and Squire.
  9. I remember when I first hea d the song Blues for Allah, I thought it was so goofy. Now it's my favorite part of the album.
  10. I liked her in Imherent Vice last summer. Still warming up to her music. It's always produced so well.
  11. You're a maniac! Love it. I've actually been revisiting the studio albums. Working/American through Allah is quite q run. Add in the solo albums and it's incredible! Blues For Allah is my favorite studio album.
  12. Never Not Funny Dad Rock Rock Solid The ladder two are excellent music/talk shows...finally. Definitely check out DR. They have a Wilco episode (of course The first is a hilarious round table with various comedians etc.
  13. Cool. That mythic build up does sound awesome. Too bad they didn't also keep King Solomon's in the setlist.
  14. Good to know. Now, should I go night 1 or night 2?
  15. They are doing 2 nights here in Atlanta at a former House of Blues venue. Very small. Wonder if I should even try for tickets. BTW, very cool that Bill Frisell is opening a few gigs. Would love to seem him collaborate with the band!
  16. slipknot jam? i guess it was a slipknot type jam. that 'full' eyes they do in the movie with the bass solo and then the modulation to different keys and the riff. i wonder if that was actually part of the entire song written by garcia and was going to be on the album wake of the flood. at this time they were jamming Help longer. so interesting how Help/Slip disappeared so soon after it's debut. it's a hell of a tune to play. one of the few Dead tunes I don't not fully know how to play.
  17. Phil's got cancer. Looks like a full recovery though. He and David Crosby seem to have 9 lives. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/126776/Phil-Lesh-Battling-Bladder-Cancer
  18. I think this release may have the entire Crime in the City. 33 verses or something. I'm sure this live document will be better than the record. I think Neil did Ordinary People acoustic a few times. That'd be cool to hear.
  19. Does anyone really want to hear Blue Notes live? NY's gotta be one of the most frustrating artists ever. Meanwhile, Dylan is killing it with his archive series.
  20. I like all of Phil's 'new' tunes. Wave and Childhood's being favorites. I pretty much liked everything, but always was a bit pissed when they played Victim, Samba, Picasso because they took up space for other good tunes. Picasso opener was kind of a buzz kill. As was Victim set two opener. Although, that tune did get pretty spacey. I think some of the latter day songs were fairly difficult to play live, which explains the timing issues etc. Picasso, Built, Eternity, Easy Answers. These are just pretty difficult with either lots of words or classic Bob tunes. You know what I mean :-)
  21. I just kind of grew to like it. The live sound was definitely more polished (digital?) from 86 to the end. Some tunes I never liked the midi on. Wang Dang with that midi sax! So goofy. Loved the flute on Birdsong though.
