  1. I love the slow TLEO too. I'm trying to get my Dead cover band to do it that way. They always want to play the fast version.
  2. Yes! With the chant. Straight into Phish land.
  3. I loved LTGTR opener. Just a nice warm up for a killer Hell In A Bucket. How about Divided Sky as a show opener? So fun!
  4. Nothing better! (Help opener always made me nervous as the band wasn't warmed up yet.
  5. My son: "Can you put on Benjamin's Tower?" Me: "You mean Franklin's Tower?" Son: "Yeah, Benjamin Franklin's Tower."
  6. I think it would be cool if they had a vault download service and then you had the option of getting a book with pics and essays about that particular show, tour or run. Maybe even deluxe editions with a poster and t-shirt. I remember Healy saying something like this in an early 90s interview. I remember thinking how cool that'd be but would never happen. I still think it'd be a great idea to sell download cards in gatefolds so you get the classic album art AND the modern convenience of mp3s.
  7. You make an excellent point. I was focusing more on the hits than the album songs. Of course Lyin Eyes, Tequila Sunrise, New Kid were great tunes. What made them a great classic band were all the elements put together. Have to give credit to Bernie Leadon. He had some great tunes that could've been minor hits. Also, good point about profit before art. And of course, the Walmart-ization of America. Ugh!
  8. Agree about Clapton. God?! Derek is almost too good. I really liked the fusion stuff he did with his own band. He was definitely great with ABB. they wer a well oiled machine at the end there.
  9. Agree completely about Wal-Mart. All the crap they sell isn't even the half of it. I also agree with the Eden album debacle. The band claimed to be so pro-environment etc and the make a deal with the worst corporation in America? Not to mention that album was not too good.
  10. The movie was great, but the attitude of Frey and Henley was absolutely infuriating and disgusting. What those dudes were good at had more to do with taking advantage of others in huge ways and riding coattails rather than musical talent. I was especially pissed about the way Felder was treated. He was a huge part of the latter day Eagles sound. And the treatment of Joe Walsh that way?! The dude IS classic rock. His songs filled out the concerts so the band could headline. There's a reason why they played Funk 49, Rocky Mt. Way, Life's Been Good and Walk Away at the end of the shows.
  11. Love the Eagles. Saw them in '03 and it was really great and fun. The recent documentary was well done and I think showed the band as they were. This is really sad. RIP Glenn.
  12. One of the very few eclectic rockers who reinvented himself with great success through out his whole career. I remember a Ptichfork list of 'best albums of the 70s' and Aladdin Sane was #1. Very cool. Never a huge fan, but Hunky Dory and Ziggy! Come on!!
  13. My point was that I pretty much hated 80s pop music and those 3 G-n-R tunes were a bright exception. So to me, they are some of the best tunes of the 80s. THE best songs...probably not. At that time I was steeped in classic rock and beginning to fall into the Dead abyss.
  14. Got it. Steve and Kurt's guitars sound great together in the live stuff I've see.
  15. I was thinking about Steve Gunn. I think his guitar playing was a big part of Vile's sound...at least the live stuff I've seen online. His solo stuff is pretty good.
  16. It was fun. Some of the effects were cool...Ren's voice. The chemistry and humor was great. JJ is not really creative, he's a MOR storyteller, TV director and Disney has a formula. That's the way it will be. Bad guy, bigger bad guy, good guys, raise many questions that will never be answered etc. I was hoping for this great masterpiece, but that was never gonna happen. The first movie isn't even a masterpiece, is it? It was fun.
  17. Yeah, the live footage I've seen seemed a bit sloppy. Definitely the hair issue. I'll probably go see him. Haven't picked up his new album. In the studio he's somehow able to get a nice sound with acoustic guitar coming out of an electric amp...or something. Who was that guitar player that used to be in his band? He's on his own now?
  18. I got 'walkin' and really loved the title song. Also absolutely love his production. Slightly effected guitar, a phat, airy drum sound. Killer riffs too. Feeling like I want to get into more. His new album seems like it might be good. Is he any good live? I assume it's pretty sloppy. Also, was he in War on Drugs?
  19. I'm curious about this. Paradise City, Sweet Child and Patience are classics IMHO. Maybe the best songs to come out of the 80's. I would never go see these guys though. Axle just seems like a mess and obviously can't sing, Slash is excellent and it's too bad he's never found a gig outside of corp. alt. rock. I totally see why Izzy isn't involved. This is all not to mention their infamous of going on stage at 1am for a 8pm show. Ugh. BTW, anyone like Use Your Illusion? Civil War was okay as was Yesterdays. November Rain was awful. Don't Cry was no too far behind. We heard a lot of
  20. Absolutely did not fulfill the hype. The new heroes are fun and the humor was great. However, it was a completely missed opportunity. Watered down like any corporate takeover project. That last scene. I was cracking up!
  21. Recently picked up Sleep Dirt. Not really into it. Was enjoying Joe's so I thought it would be great. It's very avant. The amount of music Z produced in the mid to late 70s is staggering.
