  1. I've been reading about the new releases from Black Keys and Band of Horses titled "Brothers" and "Infinite Arms". For some reason, just yesterday, it made me think of "Brothers in Arms". I bought that cassette when I was in grade school and played "Money for Nothing" and "Walk of Life" endlessly. Later, I learned to love "So far Away" way more than those two. I also remember the music video for "Walk of Life" with the football bloopers. Good memories.
  2. I've seen PJ enough times now that the concert dates weren't that big of a deal...until I saw Band of Horses was the opener. I've been wanting to try them out live and you know with PJ to follow the night will at least be good if not great.
  3. What I've sampled of this sounds great. I ordered it online and got a response that the release date had been delayed. Is the previous album worth getting as well?
  4. Maybe some of the unanswered questions after May 23rd will be answered in the extras of the complete series box set?? $$$$$$$
  5. I got this same vibe. It also felt like an important moment, like MIB blew it off but it could come back to bite him.
  6. If you listen to everything Jay and Oprah say about this and believe them, then my guess is that people take advantage of you on a daily basis. I don't need to listen to Jay, Conan or Oprah to know who is the bad guy in all of this (other than NBC). Look at how many people in showbusiness, particularly fellow comedians and peers that ripped Jay to shreds for this whole thing. Normally they would stay out of something like this, but they jumped on him in a heartbeat. These are people that know Jay well, and that is all I need to hear to have a sense of what went down.
  7. I think I fall somewhere in the middle here. IMO, Conan totally got screwed in this and it's a bad deal for his staff. I also think that it may work out brilliantly for him, and not from a money standpoint. While he thought it was his dream job, maybe Conan will eventually find out that it really wasn't. Ratings were miserable and he was having trouble finding his footing with a more watered down product. The last two weeks when he didn't give a shit, their comedy was, as Tarantino put it, "on fire". On his next show, he may find the ability and freedom to do the comedy that keeps him "o
  8. I guess a tour of Japan was unlikely, but not impossible.
  9. I was hoping for Losin' Yer Head, that was sooo good when I saw them in Chicago. Either that or Baby Boomer. I bet they had to choose a song in which everyone traded verses, just like "Say Please" on Conan, to be fair to everyone.
  10. http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=5099969945120 They have it listed at $242 but the coupon has to be off of the list price. I was simply looking at the end result, which I got for $50 cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. You have to be a Border's Reward member for the coupon. 40% is pretty rare, but they frequently have 30% coupons that they email to you. I still can't believe they let me use it on the box set.
  11. It seems like it is more prevalent in the the newer records. Maybe it's not and the act has just worn thin for me. The blue album came out when I was a freshman in college. Maybe I've just grown up since then and it doesn't hit me on the same level? They are pretty much the equivalent of The Offspring ("Pretty Fly for a White Guy") for me now.
  12. Just got notice that my mono box set is finally on the way. I ordered it through Borders. I had a coupon for 40% off any item, and the list price was $300, so I got it for $180. I thought that was a pretty good deal.
  13. Two subtle (or not so subtle) differences between new and old Weezer. 1. The use of pop culture references or brand names 2. The use of hip hop slang. For me, these two things have turned Weezer into a novelty act and absolutely unlistenable. It is a sound business move by them to work with Katy Perry, Kenny G, Adam Lambert, etc. Endear yourself to fans of those artists, fans who don't know what good music is, and you will look pretty good by comparison. Kind of like non-country artists getting into pop country music, not the strongest playing field there either.
  14. Thank you for the reports, Trevor. After first listening to the album, I had lost just a little bit of my excitement for the Chicago show. Your reviews have left me really jacked and wishing Oct. 30th was already here. I shared some of your comments on the MMJ board and there are a bunch of excited peeps over there.
  15. -Buster working the construction job and giggling when someone calls him a candyass. -George speaking to the wrong "Scared Straight" group and talking about people reaching around and grabbing his junk in prison.
  16. Drummer is Will Johnson from Centro-matic. He will be the drummer for the tour as well.
  17. I'll be there with two friends. Really pumped for Liam Finn as well.
  18. "Long, Long, Long Bulldong" I really liked "Leave My Kitten Alone" on the Anthology.
  19. http://www.relevantmagazine.com/magazine/current-issue/ I thought this was a good read. Many questions regarding spirituality in Wilco songs. Jeff comes off very grounded and open minded.
  20. Totally agree. The best part of this song for me is where it falls in the band's progression. You take a band that has done bare bones guitar and drums their whole career. You pair them up with Danger Mouse. The first track on the album begins very understated and you think "what's the big deal?" and then BAM!, the hammond, bass and drums just bludgeon you over the head. They also mixed that part of the song way louder, so the first time you hear it you are totally not expecting it and it just melts your face. I don't think it's a coincidence that they mixed these extra instruments to li
  21. Edit: Never mind, I saw pinned thread about Front Gate and it answered some of my questions. I hope I don't strike out at 10:00, because I'm really jacked about this show. It will be my second, and I had planned to go to the last Iowa City show but couldn't make it at the last minute. Also pumped about Liam Finn.
  22. George Thorogood - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer Jamie Foxx - the "blame it on the a-a-a-alcohol" song Chumbawumba - Tubthumping "It takes a whiskey drink" The Big Bopper - Tequila There has to be several Kid Rock songs as well.
  23. Someone directed me to look in my Ticketmaster account to find my seats. I got DRESL row EE for Chicago. Anyone have a clue what DRESL stands for?
