  1. Thanks for the heads up!! That was some good reading and I now will not be surprised if David Cook wins. They knew with the voting patterns that he was their guy and they pumped up Archie last night so his daddy couldn't cry foul like he has been the past couple of weeks. Please be true.
  2. Not sensitive, got one lobbed at me and I hit it back. Just in an ornery mood today, I hope nobody takes offense.
  3. Damn, so that's how you get 12 posts a day. I'll quit thinking so much and start posting quick, witty responses that don't contribute to the conversation. Oops, this one's too long already, I'll have to work on that.
  4. I am honestly entertained by the show. I don't really like the music itself, but because of that, I enjoy thinking about stuff like that while I'm watching. That, and my severe dislike for Archie's dad makes me dream of bad things happening to him, like scenario #2.
  5. I realize the helicopters are flying overhead, but I think last nights show was carefully planned. Cook not re-singing one of his classics and Simon unashamedly declaring Archuleta the winner are two good signs. I noticed Simon winking at Cook when he gave his explanation as to why he didn't sing "Billie Jean" or "Hello". I think one of two scenarios is developing: 1. AI realizes that since they have both under contract, Cook has more cred as a rocker by not winnning, and Archie gets more cred by winning. This means more record sales for both if Archie wins. Not re-singing a song also
  6. Thanks for the info. I will definitely buy ahead, I just need a few weeks to figure out if I'm making the trip.
  7. Any chance the Minny show sells out? I would rather wait a few weeks before buying tickets to make sure I'm coming up there that weekend.
  8. Agree with everything you said here 100%
  9. Just got tickets for both Chicago Theatre shows. First night I'm in the Mezzanine. Second night I'm in row Q of the balcony, about 5 rows from the top. Anyone who's been there, are my night 2 tix gonna suck?
  10. Even though I've only heard the songs from the SXSW broadcast, I would bet on "I'm Amazed" first, since it's the single on Itunes. After that, I'm also hoping for no "peanut butter pudding surprise". If they want to show that "new" side of themselves, I think "Evil Urges" would be a much better way to go and would have less of a risk of driving off potential new fans.
  11. This will be legendary, but the dates are packed really close together for sets that long. I hope Jim's voice holds up.
  12. BIG gap between Milwaukee and Chicago, possibly more dates to come? I wonder if they can sell out the 3500 seat Chicago Theater two nights in a row. Maybe they'll have a bigger act like the Black Keys opening.
  13. I absolutely hated David Cook's version of Baba. He is supposed to be a "rocker" and he pussified that song beyond all recognition. The slowed down start took away one of the best parts of the original. Even worse, his soft phrasing throughout the song ("teenage waste-lahnd") was very emo and had no grit to it whatsoever. Even though I knew he would fit right into the crap rock mode when the show is over and that I would never listen to his music, I was still rooting for him within the context of the show. However, pissing on Baba like that threw everything that I hate about his brand o
  14. Solace, how far is that venue from the Mall of America? I was thinking about taking my wife there this summer and may just have to plan the trip around a Fleet Foxes show!
  15. Can't stand to watch David Archuleta. They keep referring to him as the prodigy like he's a little kid. I understand he's like two foot tall and acts like he's never interacted with people before, but the guy will be 18 in December. Most people consider that an adult. His whole shock/surprise act when he finds out he's safe or gets compliments is getting old too. The kid stalked Kelly Clarkson in a hotel lobby and forced her to listen to him sing. He is not lacking confidence.
  16. Did anyone notice that David Cook sprung off of the couch and thought Natasha Bedingfield was coming to talk to him instead of Archuleta? That was funny.
  17. I'm going to hold off until June 10th. After listening to the NPR show, I can't say I'm a big fan of "Highly Suspicious" either, especially the vocals/giggling. That being said, the guitar toward the end alone makes it a better song for me than "Into The Woods", an automatic skip if there ever was one.
  18. Rocked out on "I Got Mine". Dave seemed genuinely impressed.
  19. http://blogs.nashvillescene.com/nashvillec...nteurs_live.php Looks like it closed out the main set on opening night. I'm kind of partial to "Rich Kid Blues" and "Top Yourself". Also, the Jack White part in the title track "If you're looking for an accomplice, a Confederate..........you're gonna find, find yourself alone". Anyone know how long their shows typically run? With that setlist, it looks like 90 minutes tops.

  22. That's cool, can't wait to check them out. The fact that they are softer is probably for the best. The intense MMJ stuff is not good for driving safety and is definitely not good for not looking like a dumbass. I swear people looking at my face must think I'm trying to take a massive dump when listen to that stuff. On a side note, I also can't wait to hear the studio version of Touch Me I'm Going to Scream pt 2 on NPR when I get home.
  23. Hmmm... MMJ is my favorite band, and I really like Band of Horses and The Shins, but I haven't been able to warm up to Grizzly Bear yet. I definitely need to check these guys out when I get home. Do they ever bring the rawk like MMJ? I'm guessing they are more like the quieter side of MMJ with the additional comparisons to BOH, Shins, Grizzly Bear, CSNY, etc.
