  1. You best invest in some earplugs with that lineup!!
  2. Have these been posted? Maybe I've been asleep, but some of these dates seem new. They are playing the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving in Chicago, the same nights as the Wilco Auditorium shows. MMJ is also playing on the Friday night and Wolfmother is on the Saturday night. I'll be hitting MMJ on Friday and the Keys on Saturday. 2 November: Avalon Ballroom - Boston 3 November: Nokia Theatre - New York City 4 November: Electric Factory - Philadelphia 5 November: 9:30 Club - Washington, DC 6 November: 9:30 Club - Washington, DC 8 November: The Norva - Norfolk, VA 9 Nov
  3. Wow, nice week you have stacked up there Mardog! I will be at the MMJ Riviera show. I'm glad I saw Wilco at the Auditorium last time around so I don't feel like I'm missing out. I'll be asking for advice about the Riv as the show gets closer, as I've never been there. Like, what's the best place to stand and drink close to stage and also have easy access to restrooms, etc., etc.
  4. Jim James was suffering from respiratory problems at the time of this show and after a few more dates was laid up with pneumonia for a couple of months, forcing them to postpone several shows and a European tour. His voice is not at it's strongest here. If you question whether the guy can sing live, you should try Acoustic Citsuoca, a stripped down record that has Jim's voice laid out there for all to hear. If you still think his voice is weak after listening to that, then I just don't know what to do with ya'.
  5. I always enjoy watching his guitar work in Big Love, especially the bridge about 2/3 of the way through. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4SxDGYLDWM
  6. "In my day we didn't have those fancy covered stages at rock festivals. We stood in the sun and played all day until our skin was on fire and blistered and pussy, and we liked it!!!" Cool clip.
  7. Just looked it up and the group is Little Big Town. Never heard of them, so I can't comment on their suckage. Hopefully, it's a good pairing.
  8. Who is he paired with for the Crossroads episode? I think Lindsey is awesome and love watching him play guitar, but what are the odds that his partner on this show sucks immenesly? Hopefully it's not a Toby Keith type. "Lovin you, ain't the rot thang to dooooo!!!"
  9. The dude on NPR pronounced it o-connick-kose, but I think he's wrong. I would go with oak-un no-kose.
  10. I've only been through it once, but "I Will Sing You Songs" and "O is the one That Is Real" were additional highlights for me. Also, I had never heard "Lowdown" live before, and this version has some really cool guitar on the intro that adds so much more to the song. Someone on the MMJ board made the point that this album would be a perfect complement to the '06 Bonnaroo show, if/when it's officially released. Also, youtube has some awesome clips from an '03 show that were professionally done. "War Begun" is especially good and way bigger than on record. Here is a link: http://www.yo
  11. The new Lamontagne album reminds me of O to a certain extent, minus the tortured Damien Rice vocals, and most importantly, minus LISA. I can't help but think of how much better Ray's album would be with a little bit of Lisa peppered through it to break the monotony.
  12. It's been hanging around on my list for awhile. If I ever was in a record store and saw it staring me in the face, I'd probably get it, but that hasn't happened to me yet. Now you're going to compel me to order it, and I have double discs by MMJ and The Black Crowes to pick up next week as well. Damn you, Big Perm!!
  13. I haven't seen all of the Borat clips, but this one is my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tcl7logpdw
  14. First time through, I didn't like it as much as the others (I have all of them except Big Come Up). Second time through it grew on me big time. I can't wait for the third listen. By the way, does anyone else think the last song "Elevator", has a little Hendrix vibe to it? Specifically think of "If Six Was Nine".

  16. I saw a $30 version at Target that you just plug in to your TV. Has the track ball and everything. The graphics look bad, but I thought about getting it just for the novelty. I would hate to see how much money I've dropped on that game in my lifetime, especially during college.
  17. I apologize if I took it the wrong way, it's just something that I'm passionate about. I'll get down off the soapbox now.
  18. Tug, are you an American? If so, do you agree with everything that Bush says and does? After all, he is a leader of Americans, so you must stand for everything he does, right? Please don't use some religious fanatic to paint a broad stroke over religion. It is short-sighted and no less stereotypical than profiling people because of race, sex, or sexual preference. Do you not realize that there is a large, silent population of Christians in every community that are not judgemental and hateful people? They do many good things and are accepting of all walks of life, just as Jesus was. Un
  19. Thanks for all the venue info. You guys are awesome!!
  20. Timing isn't great for me with my possibles being over Thanksgiving weekend. I will find a way to make it to one show, hopefully two. I really wanted to take a couple of friends to the Chicago show, but they will probably have family obligations. Is the Riviera a good place to catch a show (I've been to the Metro and The Vic, are they similar?). Also has anyone been to the St. Louis, Indy, or Milwaukee venues? Thanks.
  21. Post War is streaming on the Merge Records website if you want to check out more than clips. http://www.mergerecords.com/
  22. Just got this in the mail and Poison Cup absolutely blows me away. I have a five minute ride to work and I'm having trouble getting through the rest of the album because I always have to start with Poison Cup followed by some serious steering wheel thumping to To Go Home.
  23. I haven't ever seen the Crowes live with Marc Ford, it was Audley Freed for the two shows I've seen. This is disappointing. I guess I have the DVD to ease my pain.
  24. I saw Will Johnson open for MMJ last fall and really liked him. I still haven't picked up any of his stuff, mostly because I don't know where to start between his solo stuff and the Centro-Matic catalog. I was thinking about just picking up Ft. Recovery first. Is that a good idea, and then where do I go from there? Thanks.
  25. I got into an argument on here a couple of years ago regarding Thile's mandolin playing. More than 1 poster assured me that his playing was average at best. That's crazy talk. I assume they had never actually seen the man play, but what a treat it is.
