Their ACL appearance is supposed to air on the Blue Room at 1:30 Sunday.

Their ACL performance is supposed to be on the Blue Room at 6:30.

Loved the performance and had goosebumps during the second half. On a side note, I've always wondered does the line "I humanized the vacuum" mean what I think it means?

Just noticed that Spoon will be on Leno tonight (Tuesday 11th) and Craig Ferguson tomorrow night. Really loving these guys right now and hope to see them in Nashville in October.

Parts of Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway (Again) really resemble Lennon, especially the bell ringing part (A Day In The Life). There are several parts on the Summer Teeth album that remind me of the Sgt. Pepper album. The horns at the end of Pieholden Suite come to mind right away.

I was at the show and these lyrics brought up an interesting conversation with my friends. It's not his political views that bug me, it's the way he does it. We were talking about what a fantastic song "Dress Blues" is by Jason Isbell. Now there is a great message handled with some subtlety. Eddie Vedder has never and will never write a song that even comes close to touching it.

I saw a commercial for "Once" last week. That led me online to do some research. I absolutely must see the movie, hopefully next week. In the meantime, I've figured out that I would really like The Frames. Where should I start in their catalog? Thanks!!

Did anyone see The National play "Fake Empire" on Letterman last night? Pretty good performance.

This would be nice, I knew I shouldn't have let my 10 club membership expire. I think the $25/ticket extra is well worth it to see them at the Vic instead of a stadium. At least I'll get to watch them and the Jacket while I sweat the balls off at Lolla.

Hey, quit being a smartass. It's hard to explain. In my job I'm forced to make snap judgments on people based on very brief interviews/conversations. My snap judgment on Ben was that his personality might grate on me. Some of you that have been around him say he's a pretty good guy. That's more than I have to go on, so I'll take your word for it. Now that I've sucked it up and admitted the error of my ways, let's slightly change the subject. Does everyone have high expectations for the new album? I'm not sure what to think with the lineup changes, isn't one of the main writers for t

Yeah, smartass is probably a better way to put it. I just don't like smartasses, so I'll still plan on ignoring him and happily pick up the new release in October.

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/44...album-sex-clubs Ben does not come off as very likable in this interview. Maybe I'll just ignore all of his press leading up to the new release so it doesn't affect my taste in his music. I don't disagree with some of the stuff he's ranting on, but he just sounds like an asshole. I guess that could explain the revolving band lineup.

He's not a total POS. He left a text msg where they could find the dogs. In his darkest hour he still had time to care for those dogs. Touching. Some people kick the dog when they've had a bad day. He chose to kill his family and spare the dogs. As the father of a 3 yr old this whole story disgusts me to the f'ing core.

Been through it once and it is a keeper. My only complaint is that the cymbals and kick drum overwhelm at times. Maybe I've just been listening to The National too much lately, now that guy can lay down a beat.

Pitchfork just retracted on The Go! Team at Lolla. The date on their website was from last year. Damn it!!
-
Thanks for the heads-up. Unfortunately, I'm an out-of-towner and I was just up there for The National. Between that and Lolla, I don't think I can justify another trip up there to the wife.
-
Just saw on Pitchfork that The Go! Team was just added for Sunday. Unfortunately, it looks like they'll be on the same time as Heartless Bastards. I haven't seen either one live, but I don't think I can miss Go! Team. Anyone seen both?

Really looking forward to this album. Is it just me, or does he sound like Lindsey Buckingham on that track?

I really enjoyed this show. I wish they would have substituted "All The Wine" and "Murder Me Rachael" for a couple of the slower songs, but beggars can't be choosers. Boxer just gets better with every listen, and Start A War just punches me in the gut every time.

I went to the 9:30 showing of Knocked Up last night and there were two little kids just a couple of rows ahead of me. I tried not to pay attention because I wanted to enjoy the movie, but it did rub me the wrong way. As a father of a 3 yr old, I wouldn't dream of taking my kid to a movie like that, and to the parents who take their kids to Hostel, you need a kick in the fucking head. On a lighter note, Knocked Up is a great movie.

http://lollapalooza.com/schedule2007/day3.asp $80 including all charges for single day tickets. I'll be there Sunday for KOL, MMJ (w/ orchestra), and PJ back to back to back. I think I would rather check out Iggy vs. KOL, but I want to have a decent spot for MMJ/PJ.

I love that clip, but I'm partial to this one from the same show. I'll never hear War Begun the same again. From the 3:00 mark on is amazing. Would that classify as a guitar solo? I'd throw a clip of Dondante on here too, but I couldn't find one of good audio/video quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2z15hQhP3w

This is wrong on so many levels I don't even know where to start. I thought MMJ was pretty decent until I saw them live in November of 2005 at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis. They have been my favorite band ever since. I can understand how his voice might not be for everybody, but I would be interested to hear what makes him "look like a complete tool on stage".

At that rate, the next one will be 10/10!!! I planned a mini family vacation to Chicago around The National show next week. I talk up Shedd Aquarium, Navy Pier, the beach, the zoo, etc, etc., but I really just want to go see these guys at the Metro.

In the article about the man found, there was also the word "beam". Did he hang himself?
