  2. Over lunch I downloaded two extra tracks off of Itunes without having to download the full album. They are "Blank Slate" and "Santa Clara". I think they are b-sides from the Mistaken for Strangers single. Hopefully they're still available for everyone!
  3. Jacob looks like Kris Kristoffersen.
  4. That's really cool. My wife and I have watched the last several seasons of this and it is one of our favorite shows.
  5. I just picked up Presents Author Unknown yesterday at an indie store for $1.99. Think I got a good deal?!! I'm not all the way through it yet, but I like what I've heard so far.
  6. Just got an email from MMJ website yesterday. Their set at Lolla will be with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Their last show in Chicago included the symphony for 3-4 songs and it was really good.
  7. A friend of mine tried to pick up tickets Saturday morning and got denied. He called me at 9:30 and asked me if I wanted to go. I thought, hell, why not? Then I went and looked at the full lineup and got really excited. He then calls me at 10:20 to tell me tickets are sold out and that they're already going for $200+ on Stub hub, talk about a buzzkill.
  8. Yeah, the report says they misspelled it on purpose for "kicks" and "metaphors" and to avoid a potential lawsuit from Billy Eckstine.
  9. Has anyone seen a mention of how they are going to use Nels' skillz on Sky Blue Sky? I'm hoping he has some feature moments and doesn't just blend in. I love his guitar on the new M Ward b-side.
  10. Ahhhhh, sendspace. That's the one I was trying to think of. Thank you much!!!
  11. I'm trying to send my friend an album through yousendit and it is asking him for a password and logon. I've downloaded music from this site and others (I thought through yousendit) and never had this problem. Is there a better site to use for sharing, or am I missing something?
  12. These constantly change, but for right now... Studio: 1. I Will Sing You Songs 2. Bermuda Highway 3. Lay Low In Concert: 1. Run Thru 2. Mahgeetah 3. Dondante 3. One Big Holiday I've never witnessed I Will Sing You Songs or it would be on this list too. Scraps: 1. Where To Begin (Elizabethtown) 2. How Do You Know? (Okonokos Extra) 3. It Makes No Difference (Endless Highway - Band Tribute)
  13. http://ellenandmatt.net/ Somebody just gave this disc to my daughter and it is fantastic. Influences from the Beatles to The Pixies to The Ramones. She was rocking out in the backseat this morning, slapping her leg and bobbing her head. I would HIGHLY recommend. "The surprises never end on this CD, and that's one of the things I love about it. First, it's a lot of fun to hear a kids' album and wonder if it really is a kids' album. The music is so great that, if you didn't listen to the lyrics, you would swear this was some new indie rock CD. Second, every time you think you know what'
  14. Just noticed your son is only 4 mos. When my daughter was that age, she seemed to like the softer acoustic stuff as well. It didn't take her long before she became less picky.
  15. It's awesome that your kid seems to share your love of music. It should provide many bonding moments for you!! My 2 yr old daughter loves Revolver and many other Beatles songs. We sit at the computer together and watch youtube clips of the Beatles and she names each of the guys as they pop up. She also loves The Go! Team, many kid friendly sounds on that one. Other than that, it's 1 or 2 songs by several bands, including Doves, Sigur Ros, MMJ, Shins, etc.
  16. I have this album, Eisenhower, and I really like it. However, I've been told that their earlier stuff is better. They were very good opening for MMJ.
  17. I have the Reason To Believe 3 disc set and love it. I also have Good Boys While They're Asleep and that is enough Faces for me at this time.
  18. I'm hitting MMJ Friday at the Riv and Black Keys Saturday at The Vic. Never been to the Riv and when I saw Doves at The Vic I got there pretty late and had to sit way upstairs. My friends will be into drinking some beers during the shows, so I was wondering what is the best spot in each venue to be somewhat close to the action and still have fairly easy access to beer and restrooms? I especially don't want to screw the MMJ show up. I would get there 5 hrs early, stand up front, and forego the drinking if I wasn't trying to accomodate my friends.
  19. Awesome. Thanks for the info. I hope I can make it to Laurie's. If not this time, I'll be back for MMJ and The Black Keys on back to back nights Thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully I'll make it on one of the trips.
  20. I saw this album referenced and couldn't find much on it. Is it a European release or a bootleg, and how easy is it to obtain? I am also curious on the tracklisting. I need to get my hands on this. Thanks, and sorry for the barrage of help threads!
  21. Going to visit some friends in Chicago this weekend. They live in a neighborhood near the Double Door. Does anyone know of a good record store somewhat close to there? Thanks.
  22. Here's some info from the MMJ site: You get the limited 'Acoustic Chorale' DVD EP when you buy the Okonokos DVD at selected indie stores. Check these links for all locations: http://www.cimsmusic.com/ http://www.musicmonitornetwork.com/directory.htm http://www.thealliancerocks.com/ The DVD is very limited so be there on street date. Tracklist: 1. Bermuda Highway 2. At Dawn 3. Sooner 4. Where to Begin 5. I Think I'm Going to Hell 6. Strangulation I've heard the audio to these songs and they are as good as the Okonokos cuts. They are taken from the same show. No stores ca
  23. I've been interested in this phenomenon for awhile, and I think my response when I hear it from now on will be to enjoy it for the socialogy experiment that it is, rather than get pissed. It reminds me of when some jackass yells "you da man!!" to break the silence right after a golfer hits a tee shot in one of the major tournaments. That was a good article on Freebird. However, is it necessary to rip on people that still imitate Beavis and Butthead? Fartknocker.
