  1. I think it's usually several weeks before they release the schedule. That way people buy the 3 day pass assuming they will see all of their favorite bands. Then in actuality, when the schedule is released, they find out several of their favorites are playing at the same time at opposite ends of the park.

  3. Aluminum Park reminds me of The Who. I only listened to this show a few times, but my favorite new song was I'm Amazed. I'm going to attempt not to listen to anymore new stuff until June 10th.
  4. Okonokos would also be a good choice. Excellent live album and it would introduce you to several songs from At Dawn and It Still Moves.
  5. Then you must hate Wilco too, because they have as many jam band tendencies as MMJ (which is not very many). Anyway, enough of that. Just saw that MMJ is playing the late night show at Bonnaroo. Last time they did that it was a 3+ hr epic show. Wish I could go!!
  6. http://www.sambucarestaurant.com/ We ate here before we saw Spoon last fall. Best steak I have ever had. Great atmosphere and live music 7 nights a week. The band we saw that night was very talented.
  7. Never mind on the traffic question. I decided to take the Amtrak from LA to San Diego to avoid the traffic and rent a car when I get down there.
  8. Those are some great leads for me to call, thank you very much!!! It will probably depend on what type of New Year's Activities they have (I don't want to pay a huge cover, as it will probably be a short visit - we're going to the Rose Parade the next morning). Also, we are renting a car and leaving at about 8:00 A.M on the 2nd from the Wilshire to drive down to San Diego. Will traffic be a bitch heading out of the city? Any recommended routes to avoid the worst traffic? Thanks again
  9. Staying at the Wilshire Grand in Downtown L.A. on New Years Eve. Does anyone know of a good bar we could hit nearby that has a tasteful jukebox or good live music? Thanks!
  10. Why is Jim messing around at the Yo La Tengo show? He needs to be in the studio 24/7 until this album is finished, I want it now!!!!
  11. Then I bet it really freaks you out to see him without hair OR beard. One Big Holiday Acoustic from Bridge School Benefit in October. The kids in the back are awesome.
  12. How about a kids album? Have you seen Jim James' Chipmunks Christmas Song and Rainbow Connection Clips from Lolla? I will absolutely gobble up anything that they put out. Or how about some soul? Curtis Mayfield's "Move on Up", also from Lolla. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqctQAK2nm0
  13. Saw this on the MMJ board today. Supposedly it's in the new Rolling Stone. If this is true, it will be very interesting to say the least. MMJ go gospel on new disc. Quotes Jim as saying he has "never been rocked as hard as listening to gospel music, listening to Sam Cooke's secular music and then hearing the gospel he did before this blew his fucking mind, no guitars, no bullshit!" Both the sound and subject matter influenced his 25 or so new songs-which the full band demoed during a monthlong stay in a secluded studio in the colorado mountains. "we went out there and cooked dinner fo
  14. Fun is good, it's just that her brand of fun is very annoying for me to watch. The boy bands and the Fergie's of the world always seem to be having fun and enjoy being in front of the camera, but they annoy the shit out of me too. Wilco and My Morning Jacket, my two favorite bands, seem to have fun, but they don't annoy me. However, I understand how Pat's showboating or Jim James' headbanging could be annoying to others. Personal choice I guess. All that being said, if I was ever at an Arcade Fire show, and I saw them play Tunnels and Wake Up, I'm sure I would piss my pants and cry like
  15. If they were a little more mainstream, this would make for a great SNL skit.
  16. I have Funeral and love Tunnels and Wake Up. Also like Rebellion and Power Out. The rest I have not warmed up to as much. I don't have Neon Bible yet, although I like Intervention. I'll probably pick it up soon. However, I just have not been able to go nuts for this band yet. I enjoyed the ACL episode the other night, especially the last four songs (Tunnels, Power Out, Rebellion, Wake Up.) But, while I appreciate the energy, there are some aspects of it that annoy me. I especially don't enjoy watching Regine Chassagne, she reminds me of how Celine Dion would act if she were in a roc
  17. No problem, MMJ is probably my favorite right now and I like to spread the love for this band. These were posted over on their message board. Between this concert and last week's Bridge School Benefit performances, there is a lot of excitement about the enthusiastic reviews from new audiences. They received a rare standing O at Bridge School as well. It's a good measuring stick for the fans to talk about, and something to pass the time until the new album comes out.
  18. http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/i...e-werent-there/ Includes the Roots and JJ's "Goin' To Acapulco" http://www.stereogum.com/archives/concert/...t-bea.html#more At the bottom is a video of the MMJ performance. Enjoy!!
  19. My wife has a cute phrase that she uses frequently and always butchers. She says "not now, I'm too tired" and I'm pretty sure she means "right now I'm in the mood, tiger".
  20. What if they are saying "should've and "would've", wouldn't that be acceptable? supposively obliverated keep my ear to the grindstone misuse of "tip my hat/hand" lookin forwards to it drouth (instead of drought) I hear a ton of these every day. I'm sure I'll think of more.
  21. About two weeks ago I was listening to this on my ipod through the car speakers. I had to crank it just to hear the songs and I told my wife that they really need to remaster the album. Little did I know that it was already in progress with some extra goodies included!!
  22. That's it, and I agree that the Letterman performance was way better than SNL.
  23. http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb070906band_of_horses Good set on Morning Becomes eclectic.
  24. I love this show. The music is just the cherry on top. Besides the obvious Explosions in the Sky, there were many other good selections last season. Black Keys, Pearl Jam, and Sigur Ros are just a few off the top of my head. I hope it survives for another full year. Nirvana was on the season finale of Lost last year as well.
  25. It's streaming on his myspace page, but I'm going to wait until I purchase to listen.
