  1. They'd probably have an almost full house. I would imagine Red Rocks is a major tourist attraction and people who are visiting go there just so they can say they've been to a concert at Red Rocks (even if they don't care about the band that's playing there).
  2. Thanks for all the info. I think the ideal thing if it's not TOO ambitious would be to see Monument Valley, Grand Canyon & Zion. We defintiely would not go in the Summer. My wife has been to Arches & Moab, so I was thinking we'd probably wind up skipping that in favor of all the other sites.
  3. Stunning. What's the best time of year to drive through this part of the country and what is the minimum amount of time required to see it? I'm way into checking this out next year.
  4. Perhaps these second snare drums have become so popular because almost every mainstream music style has begun incorporating elements of hip-hop.
  5. He's shoicked to hear they stink? I could have told him that a long time ago.
  6. That's been the trend in drum set-ups for the last few years. Sort of like drum cages were in the '80s, or a second floor tom placed next to the hi-hat in the '90s.
  7. It's possible the media doesn't overexpose wife beating stories out of respect for the privacy of the human victims of spousal abuse. Dogs don't have privacy rights, so the media can have a field day. Also, it's worth noting that this is at least the third time Vick has acted like a dipshit (flipping off the fans) and/or committed a crime (bringing marijuana into an airport). I said your logic is flawed because it seemed like you were saying it makes no sense to prosecute Vick because some accused wife beaters weren't punished.
  8. The electric furs are a band. This section of the forum is about musical equipment.
  9. I hope so. I wish he hadn't taken the deal (whatever it is). He was smart to take the deal, though. If he hadn't, there were racketeering charges waiting for him.
  10. I won't be there, but big thumbs to them for holding this event in the Fall and not the Summer. October is a really nice time of year in GA.
  11. According to this blog, Max Roach died this morning. I was fortunate to see Max with his group M'Boom plus special guest Dizzy Gillespie in the late '80s at the Atlanta Jazz Festival. Max was one of a very small number of musicians from the early modern jazz era (possibly the last one) who was still with us. Rest in peace. http://www.whowalkinbrooklyn.com/?p=221
  12. Tin Machine played those. I think David Bowie's was silver.
  13. Thanks for posting that! I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.
  14. That's what i figured, but my eyesight is kind of shot, so I couldn't tell. I'd imagine it'd be tough, if not impossible, to find all those in left handed versions. I'm not normally a fan of Les Paul Customs, but the brown sunburst one looks pretty sharp.
  15. Are the photos reversed or are all those guitars lefties?
  16. Bill Frisell was mentioned earlier. He has a new record coming out next week w/ Matt Chaimberlin. Lee Townshend and Tucker Martine (plus guests on some tracks). Townshend and Martine do not play on the album, but edit and reconfigure the performances much the same as Teo Macero did with Miles Davis in his electric period. The results are said to be reminiscent of Miles Davis' "In a Silent Way". This could be a pretty great album.
  17. Phil Collins sounded good with Eno, too.
  18. It'd be way too tedious to give everyone a specific ranking. No list maker would be able to answer why so-and-so is # 23 and not #17. The same is true for any list of this kind. You could argue that they have a top 3 or top 5 which are in order and the rest are just a bunch of really good drummers in no particular order (or in an order that prevents too many guys from a specific subgenre or time period being back to back). Joey Waronker should be on the list. And Earl Palmer is missing. Come on!
  19. Pretty sure it's not "50 Greatest in THIS Order".
  20. Very often, guitarists emply a person to switch their effects on and off for them from offstage. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these effects are rack mountable versions of the effects that are available in some of these multi-effect units. I also wouldn't be surprised if these guitarists are folks who are considered to have amazing "tone". Believe it or not, rockstars that can afford (or be given free of charge) any piece of gear on the market occaisionally use cheap gear (Alex Lifeson uses some Behringer equipment, for instance). I'm sure the multi-effects have a lot of good sounds

    Nels sick?

That's bad news. I hope WilcoCorp has a health plan.
  22. I hate to quote myself, but earlier I said this: "You can see their Isle of Wight performance on "Miles Electric: A Different Kind of Blue". I'm not sure if this is their entire performance, supposedly it is. It's only 20 something minutes" The bold part is wrong. Their set was 38 minutes.
  23. All this talk about MMW... I enjoy them, but I've only listened to the Dropper and Combustication. Of those, I think I prefer Combustication. I'd like to hear their Tonic album (the all acoustic one), or all of their earlier stuff, really. I first saw/heard them as an opening act for Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. I remember they played a Monk tune and a Bob Marley tune. That was back when Billy Martin was using that three colored tub as a bass drum. They went over quite well even though they seemed to be unknown to most of the audi
