i was so hyped to read that, until i clicked the link and noticed this written at the top of the page: "The following spoof article appeared in the UK music magazine "New Musical Express" in 1975. I've included it here not only because it's pretty funny but also because the original list of unreleased Dylan songs that started this project off included three "mystery" names: FREEWHEELIN', NIGHTINGALE'S CODE and WOODSTOCK YULE. Somewhere along the line the fact that these were spoof titles had been lost, so I wanted to set the record straight. Remember, the article below is a hoax!"

they have some really decent seats available for the Durham show which made me quite excited, then i noticed the price...$250+! i just preordered the upcoming Isle of Wight vinyl which automatically enters you into a drawing for free gig tix. we'll see what happens

just found out that Leonard Cohen will be in my town next month! here are the current tour dates: Buy Now The beautiful new film by director Murray Lerner pairs the breathtaking performance by Cohen with interviews of festival attendees and musicians Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson and Judy Collins, as well as a look at the sometimes-hostile and often-profound atmosphere of the weekend-long festival for 600,000. The accompanying CD includes the complete audio of Cohen's performance: 14 previously unreleased songs, plus the poetry, stories and musings that tamed and awed the incendiary

just getting into the Avetts myself and just heard If It's the Beaches for the first time a couple of minutes ago. this song totally slayed me just now and there have only been a few songs that have done that to me upon first listen. can't wait to get into some of their other albums. thanks to this thread, i will avoid the newest one for as long as possible

a millisecond after thinking of this song, i came upon your post. good choice.

from a recent trip up to NYC... ok, the last pic really sucks but its Bob Dylan's old door at the Chelsea Hotel!

lucky! never seen him live. he likes to avoid NC there are some cool soundboard recordings from a place here in Raleigh called The Brewery where Ryan played quite often. you can stream them for free right here; DRA @ The Brewery . those are the only Heartbreak era shows i have heard and they sound great.

just got 48 Hours not too long ago and it is great. and of course Suicide Handbook is fantastic. can't wait until its released with instrumental/ orchestral accompaniment like it was intended. its gonna be like Gold on steroids.

have you been to Europe before? jk, its a nice place

up until recently, this was an album i never really cared much for. in fact, i prolly never listened to it all of the way through. but after watching Beatles: Anthology and a behind the music thingy on the record, i have a new found appreciation for it. the methods they used in going about writing and recording these songs seem so common now but back then no one had ever dreamed of doing any of that stuff. and can you believe that as the Beatles were recording Sgt. Pepper's, Pink Floyd was down the hall recording Piper at the Gates of Dawn?! there must've been some intense vibes in that bui

this is what i was referring to when i said that this was ironic. Dylan's pretty much saying that the bank members don't give a rat's ass about the needy. if so, they'd buy a copy to help out but as it is, they'll take this free copy and be done with it. imagine listening to the album at Christmas time knowing you cheated someone out in need by taking the record for free. i'm sure that'll make all of those Citibank peeps feel great. edit: i am under the impression that these Citibank member's with a certain amount of points will be able to download the album for free. or am i reading into th

giving proceeds from an album to charity, then turning around and giving the album away to a big bank's clientele sounds like something Dylan would do to be ironic. gotta love the guy!

ah, there it is. thanks for posting that. from what i recall, Ryan recorded some songs, which appeared on Foggy, and let the Cardinals listen to them. they then decided to record them in the studio. Ryan took some heat for this because it appeared as though the Cardinals weren't really a band, in the traditional sense, but more like back-up musicians for Ryan. he defended himself by saying that the band really liked his songs so it was pointless for them to work them out in the studio. looking back at this situation now, i can see how that comment could have really pissed him off which explain

whoa, thanks for that link! that song Oblivion on the Sad Dracula Fasterpiece album is side A on that new pink Pax-Am 7" that everyone wants to hear. don't think many people know its out there, including myself up until now. thanks again!

all i have from Dear Impossible are the demos Ryan recorded at home. he took those demos to the Cardinals and they added their touch to them but those recordings have yet to surface. i remember the tracklist on Foggy as well! i used it to make my Dear Impossible compilation since a few of those songs the Cardinals recorded were just random songs Ryan had posted on Foggy. here's the listing i have on my ipod (foolishly, i didn't save the tracklisting from Foggy ) Dear Impossible comp. Dear Impossible Kaleidoscope Eyes OK, I Surrender Roll Credits Sunflowers and Rain The Lights (I Was Loved) Y

i'm enjoying all of the Pax-Am releases. here are my thoughts: digi single 1 : 1. Lost and Found- awesome rocker that sounds like it was a b-side from Cardinology. kinda reminds me Asteroid. 2. Go Ahead and Rain (Sunflowers and Rain)- one of my favorite songs from the Dear Impossible album. i still feel that if this album was released instead of Cardinology, the Cardinals would be super-huge now! i love, love, love the lyrics to this song. Classic DRA. digi single 2: 1. Allumette: this song sounds a little rough but its a gem nonetheless. Ryan claims that it was recorded at Sunset Sound in

that should have been the cover! and they should have called it, "My A-Side Is Being Covered By This B-side."

if they decide to let him go, wouldn't that send a mixed message to potential rapists/ aspiring stars? "oh, its ok to rape someone if you're famous." regardless of the victim claiming that they should leave him alone, it obviously caused her some pain back in the day or she wouldn't have come forward about it or even sued Polanski. in my opinion, her whole "let it go" mentality is part of her healing process which is totally normal. i'm sure it was easy for her to know that Polanski was far away in France, never to set foot in the US again, but if they continue to pursue this, he'll be back he

The latest Ryan Adams thread
HungryHippo replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
awesome story, Matt (the Z)! i got nervous just reading your story, lol. i prolly would've grinned and said, "Cardinology is cool," and walked away only to kick myself on a consistent basis for the next year while thinking of all the things i should have said. btw, someone over at the RAA said he and Jesse Malin went downstairs after the show to play some music. Ryan mentioned that he and Jesse have been working on some new songs and have been playing together everyday for the past week or 2. would love to hear what they're coming up with! also, Pax-Am's digi singe #3 is out now and avai -
me too! being that Summerteeth is Wilco's bubblegum pop effort, the cover makes way too much sense. sneaky guys, these Wilcos are.

ok, so i bought the remastered Let it Be this evening and can confirm that the Get Back from Past Masters is indeed fuzzy sounding while the Let it Be version sounds perfect. strange. maybe i have a defected Past Masters? anyone care to listen to their copy and see how it sounds to them?

i've been listening to this song like crazy. i was watching Ringo on VH1 Storytellers the other day for the first time and was so hyped when they played this.

that complete Winterland '77 set looks too good. think i may wait to see if Amazon will offer it for something a little cheaper like they did with the Winterland '73 set. but, grrr...that track listing for the bonus disc looks sweet! BONUS DISC: Chicago Auditorium Theater, May 12, 1977 (while supplies last) 1. Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo> 2. Dancing In The Street 3. Terrapin Station> 4. Playing In The Band> 5. Drums> 6. quick question. for those of you with the new Past Masters, does Get Back sound a little fuzzy on your speakers? not sure if that's how its supposed to sound or not. i have a few of the remasters and they all sound great except for this song and its one of my fav Beatles songs
