  1. so if you get a certain amount of negative votes, what will happen? likewise, what happens if you get a lot of positive votes? will Wilco invite us on stage for a jam? everyone hook this post up with + votes, we'll see what happens.
  2. those are some excellent picks for this week's taper's section. cool to read that Steppin' Out was supposed to be 5 discs. Steppin' Out and Hartford '77 are my fav. official releases right now. its true that you can pick pretty much any gig from the spring '77 tour and not go wrong.
  3. been listening to The Engines are Idle over and over. 2:51 into the song is heartbreaking... In the end I suppose You sink or you swim But your chance would be better If you weren't chained to him 'Cause its ageless and timeless But beauty must fade And it looked so much better When the picture was made And your cries always sounded like laughter What am I to do And your lies weren't the biggest factor But they had something to do With the love that lasted a lifetime In a year
  4. from what i gather, Jay wasn't with Undertow anymore. he didn't elaborate but told me they had a sort of falling out. could be Undertow is reading our messages here/ following the twitters and decided to post that pic? im really hoping this is just a hoax.
  5. there's no way this could be true. i know a lot of people don't care much for Jay, but starting a rumor like this is not cool.
  6. whenever i hear He's Gone, it makes me think about the current Wilco line-up. they could do that song justice.
  7. it fell off and got ran over. poor Pat's beard.
  8. went to Best Buy tonight and they had like 4 lps... i wasn't in the mood for U2, Elton John, Guns and Roses or Bruce Springsteen. anyone know when all of the stores will get vinyl in? i should have asked but i didn't. i was too busy gushing over that new 3d My Bloody Valentine movie...so crazy!
  9. did you get your name from that post Morrison Doors tune? "Go tell your daddy that we need some dough We're gonna get married down in Mexico... We got love, don't need no more All we got to live on is this hardwood floor."
  10. hmm, interesting. haven't heard of this documentary yet prolly cause the Doors board has been down for a while now. if Patricia Kenneally had a hand, or finger, in making this, i'd be worried. she's not the most credible person in the world, to put it kindly. although i am looking forward to hearing what Richard Goldstein has to say. can't wait to see When You're Strange. i've been hearing about it for years and its finally here, almost! btw, Morrison's dad was interviewed on film, for the first and only time, for this documentary and it'll be included with the DVD extras!
  11. I could seriously write a book about how great this album is, however, if I had to choose one moment in particular that strikes me as my fav moment in the whole of the record, it would be I'll Fight. its just so intense and sweet. this song moves me. "I'll die alone like Jesus on the cross, my faith can not be tossed, my life will not be lost, my love comes across." wow!!! as for the con, I'm having trouble getting into You and I. that's not really a con, just an obstacle I've yet to overcome. it kinda strikes me more as an ode to Wilco's fans as it does a love song.
  12. wow, didn't know that the Schoolkids in Chapel Hill closed down. is the Nice Price Books still there? they have a good selection of vinyl, as does the Raleigh store. hmm, think i know where i'll be going on my next off day.
  13. hey guys, im in! great to open the screen to Man Smart, Woman Smarter! looks like their going on break now...
  14. i can see why people would be turned off while reading it. i didn't like it at first. it took me a while to get into it but once i did, it all clicked. its def. not Walt Whitman or Allen Ginsberg, then again, modern poetry should be different from poetry of the past.
  15. i don't get out of work until 11:15 PM! if you guys are still up at midnight, i'll be there! at least i'll get to catch the encore.
  16. haha, yes. the price does seem kind of steep, however, i paid $70 for the Infinity Blues/ Sad American Mythologies signed books and they're going for $200+ on ebay now. they're def. nice investments especially since they're all numbered and include signed chapbooks that will never be published again. Jim Morrison did this with 3 of his poetry books and those go for $8,000-$15,000 now. not that i'm comparing Morrison to Adams or anything. edit- i forgot to mention that i enjoyed reading his first book as well. its quite dark, makes Love is Hell look like an early Mandy Moore album.
  17. the intro reminds me of Pink Moon era Nick Drake. overall, i get Loose Fur S/T vibes from it (You Were Wrong) thanks to the chorus. i like it. i like it a lot.
  18. Ryan's new book, Hello Sunshine, is available for preorder here: http://www.akashicbooks.com/hellosunshine.htm. once again, it comes with a signed limited edition chapbook.
  19. i've been listening to this show a lot since it came out. love that version of Bertha and Jack Straw. btw, looks like gdradio.net is streaming shows from the current Dead tour right now if anyone's interested.
  20. its amazing how fast these threads fill up, still they never cease to amaze me. i pledge to listen to more 80's- 90's shows while this thread is around. oh, and Analogman, you forgot to write "1st!!!!" on your first post, lol.
  21. i bet his fav. break-up line is, "Sorry, I need more space." sorry about that.
  22. great idea! and then we can wear them to shows so we can easily track down other VC'ers. wow, i sound stalkerish.
  23. later, Panther. you will be missed. your record reviews were interesting. you said what we all thought, for the most part, in a very, very unique way. i hope you come back with a hefty critique of Wilco (The Album). *after proofreading this post, i've deducted that it may come off as sounding sarcastic, however, that's not my intention.*
