ditto, just sounds cooler that way. a lot of words sound better mispronounced.

haha, i was doing the same thing last night. tickets to NYC from NC are only $135 (tax included) which is much cheaper than the usual $215 price tag. however, the only seats available at MSG are the nose bleeds... this is such a painful decision.

i didn't go. my boss went and he'll be back tomorrow so i'll get an earful then, can't wait. for months, i told myself i'd go if i knew they'd play He's Gone but i figured the chances for them playing that were slim to none, lol.

anyone read Batman RIP? wondering if its worth picking up. the hardcover has been released and i was tempted to buy it but have a full plate now. just finished 52 and Black Adam: New Dawn (awesome) and am currently wrapped up in the New Krypton/ World of Krypton Superman series as well as the new JSA series. they're on hold until UPS delivers them on Monday, so this weekend i'm all about the JLA/ JSA Lightning Saga which is crazy good!

i forgot all about the Hartford 77 show and just rushed out to go and get it about an hour ago. i needed some good saturday night jams. second song into the set and its sounding real nice. so far, Donna's backing vocals aren't bothering me. $70 for the Winterland set makes it so tempting to buy. i can't foresee the price staying that low for more than a week. now i need to convince myself to go ahead and order it...

i was 9 at the time so i have choppy memories of this. i was introduced to Nirvana via MTV, loved the song Lithium, and can recall MTV playing the Unplugged show on repeat after Cobain's death. it wasn't until 6-7 years later that i became a big fan.

im prolly gonna get knocked down for this but i kinda enjoy Kenny Chesney. some friends dragged me to one of his shows back in '05, i think, and the guy has some catchy numbers. that song, Anything But Mine, melts my heart every time i hear it. i think his live shows and the whole image surrounding him are a tad absurd. also, Garth Brooks and George Strait are 2 "newer" acts i rarely tire of.

indeed. that record hit me soo hard when it was released. i could relate to every song on it. i don't listen to it much anymore because of that. it feels like im opening up a time capsule when i put it on. in fact, most of his songs are like that for me. i think that's where the Dylan references stem from. Conor's got that ability to make a tune so ambiguous yet personal, its just amazing. damn, now i have to listen to it.

New Conor Oberst "solo" record -- "Outer South"
HungryHippo replied to redpillbox's topic in Someone Else's Song
looks like they'll be giving out the doc for free in hopes that the people who grab it will donate to a charity. that's a cool thing to do especially with the economy like it is. -
You Will? is prolly one of my top 5 favorite songs of his. i also dig A Lover I Don't Have to Love and Waste of Paint. other than that, don't really listen to this album all that much.

yes, it is! this song features some great one-liners, "dreams never did work for me anyway, even when they did come true," and "everybody got all the flowers, I don't have one single rose," and, of course, the Joyce line. the guitar towards the end of the song, and the melody in general, remind me a lot of Sky Blue Sky (the record, not the song.) I've already ripped this tune to my PC and have listened to it like 6 times already!

here's some fuel for the fire...

HungryHippo replied to ChooChooChuck's topic in Just A Fan
in the 1.2 seconds it took for this thread to load, these thoughts crossed my mind: 1. omg 2. this will def. make Wilco look bad 3. who will replace him? great joke tho! -

A "gold mine" of Opry artist shows being restored
HungryHippo replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Someone Else's Song
whoa, this is crazy! its like something off of the Twilight Zone. I swear, I have dreams about this type of stuff. imagine if they have a recording of Cash at the Opry when he kicked out the stage lights while loaded. or some old Hank Williams Sr. gigs... I know what I'll be dreaming about again tonight. -

check it out, the "last" Cardinals gig is up on archive.org. The Cardinals- Fox Theatre Atlanta, GA 3/20/2009 -
judging by some of those song lyrics, this album isn't gonna be as "romantic" as I had thought. now I'm even more excited to hear it!

I'm in! tho I did download 'One Wing' and 'Sunny Feeling' back when Wilco first started playing them. I do listen to 'One Wing' on a regular basis, from the show I attended, but I can't remember how 'Sunny Feeling' even sounds...its been so long. oh yeah, I also caught that Colbert episode but that doesn't count. I'd like to wish everyone the best of luck....we will need it.
