just picked up the Hank boxed set! im digging it way more than i thought i would. his music is just so accessible. while listening to this set, you can't help but picture the guys all gathered around together with smiles on their faces just jamming out. oh, and all of those hymns are just wonderful. i'm a sucker for old gospel tunes. can't wait for the next release. edit- i also want to mention how great these recordings sound. the music is so crisp and clear and the vocals are right up front. sounds like they were recorded yesterday.

Ryan Air to offer $15 tickets from US to Europe!
HungryHippo replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Ryan Air flights remind me of that Twilight Zone episode with William Shatner where a monster is on the wing trying to tear the plane apart. that could probably happen on a Ryan Air flight. -
anyone know if Music Direct will be selling all of these new reissues as a bundle? you know, buy more, save more.

you're so, so, so lucky! from what i'm hearing, he's a little more laid back regarding audience chatter, etc... so, chances of your show being canceled/ cut short are slim to none. then again, he is Ryan Adams so you never really know, haha. have fun! -
thanks for the review, gogo! i'm not much of a music film fan myself but this one sounds OK.

it ain't everyday you come across a thread with a title like this one!

so, I was talking to my friend tonight and I mentioned needing to get out of town, maybe going up to New York soon and stay at the Chelsea Hotel. my friend had lived in New York since the 60's, but moved back here to NC in the 80's, and he lit up a bit when he heard me mention the Chelsea. he told me that Andy Warhol, and a bunch of "his people," had a place across the street. my friend was 16 at the time and said he'd get his drugs, amphetamines, from the Chelsea district. he also mentioned this girl that was always hanging around Andy named "Edith." I thought for a moment and said, "You mean

just started listening to Black Flag. some songs seem kinda silly but i'm sure they were hardcore rebellious back in the day. that TV Party song is a trip.

#3. i haven't heard it yet, but the 1-2 clips ive listened to seemed to impress me.

i'd like to see Tweedy and Bennett collaborate with one another sometime in the future. i'm not saying Jay should re-join Wilco, just kinda hoping they'd get together for a side project or something. they both seem to be level headed guys with a common love for musical exploration which, hopefully, out weighs all of that other negative junk that seemed to have caused so many problems in the past. they're 2 talented dudes that create magic when they come together. the world should not be deprived of that brilliance.

*Admin note: Videos have been removed because the band does not allow videotaping. thanks for posting the vids! they're quite lovely. btw, i thought Fake Plastic Trees is a Radiohead song. im confused. i don't wanna listen to it as im now one of those people who are depraving themselves of new Wilco until the record comes out. -
i read 'Go' by John Clellon Holmes awhile back and loved it. it was similar to Kerouac's 'On the Road' but was a little more involved or something, hard to explain. 2 other novels that are coming to mind are Brendan Behan's 'Borstal Boy' and 'Confessions of an Irish Rebel.' i only mention the latter due to it being the sequel to 'Borstal Boy.' oh, Kerouac's 'Dharma Bums' and 'Desolation Angels' blew me away when i first read them! im getting into Dostoevsky now, 'Notes From the Underground' and 'Crime and Punishment,' and am really digging this guy's views, especially regarding religion bein

im gonna try and make that new atlanta show. would make for a nice road trip! its prolly cheaper to fly tho. as for ryan/ lost hwy ripping people off, i think its more of a lost hwy decision as to what to release and how to release it. i hear that they're planning on a RA anthology release this year that'll have some unreleased bonus tracks tacked on it. pity that box set never happened, woulda been cool. on a side note, i just discovered that for almost every record RA has released, 1+ singles were released as well which feature 2+ unreleased songs as b-sides! not to mention a handful of -

anyone know how to purchase "Hey There, Mrs. Lovely" from the new EP, other than iTunes? you have to have a new version of iTunes to buy it and i'm running on an older version. you also need a Windows update in order to install the newer iTunes and said update likes to crash my PC when installing. -
i thought this was a Bob Dylan reissue thread where Dylan would come to your house and play JWH for $5,000. oh well, maybe one day.

I called the radio station to request a song
HungryHippo replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
i talked to Ray Manzarek (Doors' organist) on the radio, via phone, right after he spoke with George Thorogood. was quite nervous, haha. -
this record ain't out yet but half of it can be heard here: http://www.myspace.com/additionalmoog

looks like the film just got a distributor and Johnny Depp will be narrating! http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/the-...gs-johnny-depp/

anyone heard of these guys? they sound a lot like Wilco. they also have some John Wesley Harding style Dylan in 'em. and when i say they sound a lot like Wilco, they do. imagine all of Wilco's records being mashed into one and you'd end up with this album.

wow, what a read! that whole article was entirely true. thanks for sharing. this part made me lol: "“Rad, thanks,” he says, re-focusing on the music and submerging himself back into the sweaty funk of the crowd where he resumes a jittery head bobble with a little bit of a twitch."
-
i prefer Wilco in smaller venues such as auditoriums. there's something really intimate about that setting not only regarding the band and music, but fellow concert goers as well. it feels like being stuck in one big ball of love for a couple of hours. and i do not mean this in a dirty way, lol. that feeling easily dissipates during outdoor gigs.

a mix of these 2 records all week:

check out the Doors album, "The Soft Parade." it was recorded with strings. def. check out "Wishful Sinful."

i'll second that notion. maybe he'll go on a solo tour with nothing but a piano. man, that'd be great.
