  1. Morrissey is gonna be in my backyard! how freakin crazy is this?
  2. oh, nice. I love music like this. more bands def. need to utilize the uke. btw, I vote that the best record cover of '09.
  3. I like the lone reply on the Flickr page..."This is awesome. I wish Conor Oberst did this."
  4. this thread title ain't cool. my heart stopped beating for like 1.3 seconds before/ whilst clicking it.
  5. finally! I recently had to reformat my PC, and after reauthorizing my ipod to my newer PC, iTunes refused to let me play those purchased songs. so, its like $100 was tossed out the window. I know, I know, there's an option where you can back up your purchases, but who's got time for that?
  6. whoa. I bet lasers shoot out the grill if you get within 25 feet of it.
  7. happy b-day! I sent a cake and some ice cream, should be there in a few days.
  8. so, I've been looking for Westerberg stuff all over the place and found one best of disc, but passed it up as $20 is kinda steep for music I've never heard. anyways, I decided to take a trip to Goodwill this afternoon. while browsing thru the CD rack, I found Neil Young's Live Rust, The Jesus and the Mary Chain's Automatic, the Beavis and Butthead soundtrack and Westerberg's 14 Songs! how crazy is that? Goodwill never has any good CDs, unless you dig country/ gospel music from the 80's. anyways, I'm hyped and thought I'd share that on here.
  9. lucky! I've always wanted to go there. have you heard the live version they played on 12/11/70? its a bit longer and sounds neat. he changed the lyrics at the end of the song from "just another lost angel" to "just another dark witness." good stuff.
  10. L.A. Woman- The Doors. this song is THE best tune of all time, for real. everything about it is so romantic and full of every emotion that I can't properly describe it. even the way it was recorded, Morrison laid down the vocals in a bathroom, is romantic. my avatar is a pic of Morrison taken during the L.A. Woman sessions.
  11. not to brag, but I was there for the first 2 live renditions of this song by the band. it was a heavy moment featuring some nice backing vocals by the guys. from the songs they were previewing off of what would be SBS, The Good Part def. seemed to fit right in to that general vibe. ok, well, I am bragging a bit just because its New Year's day and I'm sober...
  12. FYI, Borders has a sale going on now where all DVDs/ CDs are 30% off, so I got these: currently listening to the Neutral Milk Hotel.
  13. what's the best record for a Westerberg newb to check out?
  14. I feel where you're coming from. I went a while having zero urge to listen to them until the other night when the desire hit me hard from right outta the blue. it was so weird. there's just something about the Beatles, especially the earlier songs, that just makes me smile. about 20 mins. ago, I dug out my ol' Rubber Soul vinyl.
  15. maybe this, and a ton of Doors, inspired Tweedy to write Sunken Treasure! wow, its been a long weekend and its only Friday...
  16. why was this pulled? I've listened to 49:00 but didn't care much for it. maybe it'll take a few listens to like. then again, I've never heard a Paul Westerberg song in my life, to my knowledge, since before listening to 49:00.
  17. what? this is crazy! why didn't they sort this beforehand?
  18. Trade winds find galleons lost in the sea I know where treasure is waiting for me Silver and gold in the mountains of Spain I have to see you again and again I bet Tweedy's singing this whenever it comes time to decide were to play.
  19. The Beatles- 1. I just had the biggest urge to listen to this after letting it gather dust in the closet for at least a year. its a good idea to cleanse your musical palette with some Beatles annually or so. makes everything sound new and fresh again.
  20. I corrected one of your typos. all kidding aside, that record's b-side, Tree Trunk, is a rockin' tune. kinda sounds like a Sky Blue Sky outtake. edit-
  21. after a Wilco gig one night in '05, Jeff Tweedy was standing out back with a few other Wilcos and he was wearing a ball cap and smoking a cig. my friend was like, "hey, what's the truck driver doing with Wilco?" a minute or so later we realized it was Jeff. this story would be funnier if you were there. also, the first time I saw Wilco, back in '04, John was talking to some fans after the show and for the life of me I couldn't figure out who he was, he was wearing different clothes from what he wore on stage and I had horrible seats, but I knew he was a musician. for some reason I was think
  22. they played the Avalon Ballroom a few times which is in San Fransisco before the Matrix as headliners. if you have the Matrix boots, you'll notice the 2nd version of Who Do You Love sounds different than the rest of the Matrix songs. some say this was actually recorded at the Avalon and somehow got mixed into the Matrix tapes. there's a really good audience recording of 2 songs from the Avalon, Moonlight Drive and Backdoor Man, out there which were recorded a couple of days before the Matrix gigs. I've never listened to Early Steppenwolf, but I've heard good things about it. I'm glad Peter
  23. Jampol denied knowing who Abram was. he then contradicted himself a week or 2 later when he said he had known who Abram was for years. here are his 2 posts showing this. sorry, I can't cite the source as he deleted the thread where he posted these: so, he never knew him, yet he's known him for years, lol. I think it all boils down to the fact that the Doors did now want to pay for the masters. they claimed in the beginning that Paul Rothchild, the Doors' producer, recorded these shows. this was an interesting claim since Rothchild never recorded any Doors concert and the only one he
