  1. omg, I have never laughed so hard. thanks for posting this.
  2. AGIB should have made that list, no doubt about it. I mean, everyone knows that Wilco is the best band in the world right now, so I'm sure no one would complain about them popping up twice on a top ten list.
  3. just bought Anthology 2 and 3 off of Amazon for a total of $27!!! my local cd store only has Anthology 1 which doesn't look too appealing to me, not a huge early Beatles fan, and the price is something like $35. can't wait to hear these outtakes and such!
  4. that free song is in an e-mail Ryan sent out to people on his mailing list yesterday. Analogman posted it but you need the actual e-mail in order to d/l the free song. if you click the "free jam" text, you can download a cool country song about robo-tripping called Jimmy Whistlenut. I have a hunch that the pink vinyl is gone for good now. at the time it was being sold at the art show in NYC, Ryan said that that would be the only place it could be purchased. I guess the gallery sent him what they had left, looks like it wasn't much, so he could sell them on his site.
  5. I may not have a cool halloween avatar but look at my post count! pretty scary, huh?
  6. heard One Wing tonight at the grocery store. if you would have told me that my local grocery store would be playing Wilco a few years ago, I would have fallen out, 4realz.
  7. edit- the pink vinyl is now sold out. those things went hotter than tix to a Taylor Swift gig.
  8. I'm not the type of person who thinks albums would sound better with less songs, but I'll agree with you here. I'm in your same boat. the day the Christmas album leaked, I had it on my ipod and was listening to it in the car with a friend. that was a weird moment. btw, go and listen to Dylan! its def. a grower but once you work through the weird covers and back-up singers, you'll love it for life.
  9. Idiot Wind from Eric Clapton's B-day Bash found this through Expecting Rain just a moment ago. here's what the video's description states: the song starts out kind of rough but gets way better towards the end. too bad it didn't go on a little longer...
  10. how often do you listen to Self Portrait or Dylan?
  11. I've never met him but LouieB reminds me of my ex's dad. he was one of the coolest guys to chat with. he had this awesome record/ cd collection and had speakers rigged up around the living room from which the local college radio station was always playing. he also had an awesome beard!
  12. Forever Changes should def. be on that list. in fact, I need to try and track down this sucker on vinyl.
  13. I think that Strange Days is a bit more psychedilicized than The Doors. I guess the reason their s/t gets more interest is due to the fact that it was released in Jan. 1967, therefore being present during the Summer of Love while Strange Days was not released until the end of that year. Light My Fire also hit #1 that summer which kind of cemented that album's place in acid rock history.
  14. he had a copy of In The Court Of Crimson King and Discipline but In The Court was $45, too steep for me, and I thought Poseidon sounded much better than Discipline.
  15. overall, W(TA) is going to be an album I return to for the rest of my life. the majority of what was released this year will, more than likely, be forgotten within a year by me, except that new Mountain Goats record, that bad boy is hardcore good. 2009 seems to have been the year of reissues for me...Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Joseph Arthur, etc. haven't done a good job with keeping up with this year's new stuff.
  16. kind of off topic but for those of you who live in the Raleigh/ Durham area, there's a guy at Cary Towne Center mall who's got an impressive collection of used vinyl. tomorrow is his last day there and he won't be back again until Jan. 10. i picked up; 1. John Lennon and Yoko Ono- Double Fantasy 2. Johnny Cash- At San Quentin 3. Pink Floyd- A Saucerful Of Secrets (is actually the album Nice Pair which included both Piper At The Gates... and SOS but Piper was missing so i got a deal on it.) 4. Rolling Stones- Some Girls 5. Johnny Cash- Hymns From The Heart 6. King Crimson- In The Wake Of Pose
  17. i changed your post to accommodate my common dilemma. out of the 7 times i have seen Wilco, i once saw Glenn's hand and drumstick in the air after Jeff's intro to ITMWLY. besides that, i really can't comment on the guy...
  18. Nuclear Daydream has just been rereleased (3rd time now?) over in Europe. but, the catch is, its now on 180g vinyl and features bonus tracks from the album's sessions! check it out.
  19. i just watched the video where Falcon mentions that it was, "for the show." the father's reaction is classic! and then the stuff he rambles off afterwards regarding his son asking for candy at the store and getting behind is such a poor attempt at trying to cover up the truth with lame lies. i feel really bad for these children.
  20. sounding wonderful! thanks for sharing this link.
  21. Ralph Lauren Addresses Scandalously Photoshopped Ad wtf?
  22. Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 is shipping now! my copy arrived today.
  23. my older bro was always listening to Bush's Sixteen Stone back in the 90's. i haven't listened to in a while but it was my fav. back then. however, best 90's band goes to Nirvana. i was too young to have been a big fan before Cobain died but do recall seeing them on MTV in the early 90's and really liking their music. it wasn't until junior high, when Muddy Banks was released, that my friends and i really started listening to them on a consistent basis.
  24. it looks like a lot of people here are fans of the Beatles based solely on early childhood memories or sentimental memories for that matter. one of my earliest memories ever was of riding in my dad's truck and the Beatles coming on the radio. he told me, "this is a band called The Beatles." i then thought of the nasty, scary looking beetles in our backyard and wondered if the band themselves looked like those critters. i also grew up with Evan Rachel Wood's brother and would hang out at their house all of the time. i read in a recent interview that her folks would play The Beatles a lot. somet
