  1. omg, so sad. Fear of Dreaming was one of the first poetry books that i ever got into. i carried it around for years. def. some cutting edge words.
  2. Go Ahead and Rain has been renamed Sunflower Rain which appeared on the old Foggy as Sunflowers and Rain a while back. this song is on the unreleased Dear Impossible album. it sounds a lot nicer after its been mixed and cleaned up properly.
  3. Ryan also sent out an email the other night with a link in it to download the Let Us Down Easy demo from the Hope album. also, since the 2 digital downloads were supposed to have been sent out yesterday for download and were not, an email was sent out for a Sink Ships demo download from the Hope album. and to think, most of us were worried when he said he was stepping back from music for a bit
  4. omg, the Rubber Soul in stereo is mind bending! i've always dug the mono version so this is a real treat for me. i had to stop myself from getting out of my chair to turn over the record when i remembered i was listening to mp3s. that's bad.
  5. just got a copy of Summerteeth today and my copy is fine. there's no better feeling in the world than browsing through the new vinyl at a record shop and seeing Summerteeth amongst SBS, AGIB, W(TA), etc.
  6. VH1 Classics has been airing mad Beatles programming recently. just watched Hard Day's Night and its gotta be the funniest movie ever. "Who's the old man?" "It's Paul's grandfather." haha. also watched 2/3 of Anthology and am so, so tempted to get these remasters. as of now, i only own the White Album and Rubber Soul both on vinyl. everyone, be sure to post your reviews on here when your remasters arrive!
  7. i have vol. 1 of the Asch Recordings. i really like that live version of This Land Is Your Land done with Cisco Houston. of course that "sschhh-sschhh-sschhh" sound is annoying but its a real cool historical document. wonder if any other live recordings like this exist?
  8. disc 4, track 2 of this set is a song called Do You Ever Think of Me (aka At My Window.) from the 30 seconds of it i've heard so far, the lyrics appear to be different than the Mermaid Avenue version but the chorus seems to be slightly similar. maybe someone who has heard this entire track can comment on it.
  9. i stumbled upon this Dylan reference while reading a review for that new Guthrie boxed set and it made me LOL...check it out: linkage
  10. there was a pretty intense Bright Eyes thread going on here a while back where we all talked about our fav. discs. you can prolly find it via the search function. i think Digital Ash in a Digital Urn is a great album. and i'm pretty sure Gentleman's Pact is available on eMusic if you wanna check there for it. never heard it myself but i'm pretty sure i've seen it over there.
  11. heck yea. i did this for an ex once (minus the linear notes but that's a rad idea) and she really dug it. i also recommend stooka's suggestion as well as taking her out for dinner at a place she likes.
  12. hahaha. my dad took me to see Batman in 1989. i was 4 years old and was totally freaked out by the Joker. Batman kinda scared me too but redeemed himself by beating up all of the bad guys. Jack Nicholson has that creepy factor with kids, for sure.
  13. think i'll buy a few of these and give them out with Christmas gifts despite the fact that neither my family or friends share my Dylan enthusiasm.
  14. dang, just shelled out 20.99 for a used copy of Danzig's Lost Tracks now have to get this and the Summerteeth vinyl. think its time to pull out the over-time card at work.
  15. i saw Fionn Regan here a few years ago. the place reminds me of a cafeteria. really cool and intimate tho.
  16. i don't use a GPS thingy, nor have ever wanted to purchase one, but i'd pick one up just to hear Dylan.
  17. if you liked The Dharma Bums, i suggest you read Desolation Angels. it picks-up where DB left off with Kerouac on the mountain and chronicles what happens after he comes back down. these 2 books are my favorite Kerouac books. i'm currently reading The Plague by Albert Camus. this guy's a genius.
  18. are they called botflys? seen vids online where people have a few in their back! could never, never imagine getting one "down there." poor guy.
  19. dunno if anyone has seen this but there's a nice write-up on Jay Bennett in the latest Mojo mag (w/ Fleet Foxes on cover.) think i'll get it tomorrow and post it here for those interested.
  20. yes! i've never been one to pass up hearing an acoustic record by a fav. songwriter of mine.
  21. instead of creating a new thread, figured i'd post this info in here. looks like the legendary Felt Forum (Madison Square Garden) shows from 1/17-18/1970 are going to be released soon! here's a statement from Bruce Botnick regarding the technical side of this release, followed by the album art...
  22. awesome news! i've got my old Pee-wee doll, with string on back you pull to make him talk, boxed up somewhere around here. he was def. my hero when i was like 2-3, then he got blacklisted and disappeared. it wasn't until i was prolly 17-18 that i got around to seeing the Tim Burton film and liked it a lot.
  23. haha, i love that part of the song. i always find myself grinning during Beyond Here Lies Nothing when he sings, "well, I'm movin' after midniiiite," and his voice kind of cracks. also during If You Ever Go To Houston when he sings, "I know these streets, I have been here beforrrre, I nearly got killed here during the Mexican Warrrr." i enjoyed singing along to that when i saw Dylan a couple of weeks ago
  24. awesome words from Dylan. didn't Mike Seeger seek out Elizabeth Cotten and record her before she passed away? never heard the guy perform but by actively going out of his way to preserve the sounds from a gone era makes him a great guy in my book.
