  1. DRA dropped by the RAA last night to chat with us a bit about new songs, working with Mandy, a Whiskeytown reunion, etc... ok, so there will be no duets with Moore nor will there be a WT reunion but there will be some new songs soon! he said they'll be more striped down and raw, similar to Heartbreaker. of course someone had to be rude and wrote... and then DRA counter-attacked... glad to hear he's still hard at it even though he's not with the Cardinals anymore
  2. Robert Haimer is a regular over at the Doors' board. in fact, he bought my Doors '68 tour program off of ebay and i had no idea who he was until he mentioned something about Barnes and Barnes, lol. he and Bill Mumy went to a handful of Doors gigs back in the day and he had the foresight to record some of those concerts
  3. yes! now the important question is...subscription or bundle?
  4. i think its pretty safe to assume that Panther was our Barry Allen... poor fella. as for the name change, i figured it was a glitch on my PC. good to see it actually happened and nothing on my end is broken.
  5. how about 'A Kiss Before I Go' by Ryan Adams and The Cardinals? this particular song is from '04 and Ryan Adams is getting a ton of radio love nowadays. I'll miss those nights at the bar With every girl all loaded like freights And the pain in the morning comes as easy as it goes Can't find the truth in a house of lies And you can't see tomorrow with yesterday's eyes One shot, one beer and a place where nobody cries One more kiss 'fore I go One more night and day Breath all heavy and slow One shot, one beer and a kiss before I go edit- on 2nd thought, this particular song may not be consid
  6. there's too many bad vibes in this thread. i recommend everyone light up a doob and put on SBS. that's when the Positive Truth will be revealed unto you all.
  7. yup, that was the show! i decided to leave early due to everyone being wasted. getting stuck in after show traffic with a bunch of drunks is not my definition of safety. i'm kicking myself for having missed LARS, Jolene and AATW i can live without. i thought about sitting in a seat but wasn't sure if they were reserved or not. man, that sure would have beat being packed like a sardine in crazy hot heat by the front of the stage. there was this really nice wind that would blow down on us like once every 45 mins. it would last a second or 2 but it kept me going, haha.
  8. here's what went down: intro Wilco (The Song) interview Deeper Down interview Bull Black Nova interview You and I (w/ Feist) interview outro
  9. ok, i'm lost as to how to tune in. i'm listening to WXPN online now and guess who starts playing? no, not Wilco... Ryan Adams. grrrr oh, nvm. that was the right station.
  10. i bought this on vinyl today. i haven't listened to the Vaselines since high school. def. bringing back some memories right now.
  11. i've been thinking like this for the past few years. in fact, i have zero expectations when i go and see Dylan because i know that it'll prolly be an off night for him. an off night for Dylan is him hiding on the corner of the stage mumbling the words to songs that you can't recognize despite having been an avid Dylan fan your entire life. i will say that last night, in Durham, NC, he was in a rare form! he opened his set with Cat's in the Well and Don't Think Twice, It's Alright on guitar! he seemed to be having a blast despite having to wipe sweat off himself every 5 minutes. his voiced so
  12. i've been listening to the Dear Impossible home demos for some time and would really, really love to see the Cardinalized renderings of these songs surface soon. Sunflowers and Rain is prolly my fav. DRA song right now.
  13. call me a party pooper but i hate drunk people at shows. just got back from seeing Bob Dylan and 2/3 of the audience was plastered. all i want to do is listen to the music and watch my fav. band/ artist perform. i don't care if people sing and dance along, just try and be sober about it. but no, i get sweaty drunk guys falling all over me. if they were cute drunk girls, that'd be ok but they're always guys. and then the drunk guys inevitably try and hit on the pretty sober girls standing around enjoying the music and they're really loud and obnoxious about it like, "hey you're so hot, wanna dr
  14. i used to idolize Alex Ross while growing up and have only heard of Marvelman through various interviews he gave. think he was/ is a big fan. need to check out some of those old issues for sure. that'd be kinda ironic if DC bought Marvelman. they already own Captain Marvel and had to change his name

  16. i heard someone say that Perez Hilton is this generation's Walter Cronkite. thoughts?
  17. Jeff Tweedy asked me if i was, "Via Chicago," and i told him no.
  18. i stumbled upon Academy LPs last time i was in NYC. had a decent selection of vinyl. its located at 415 E. 12th st.
  19. very true. i consider myself to be a hardcore RA fan, hell, i have a Cardinals tat, and i've yet to check out 3/4 of his demos and such. there also seems to be a plethora of live recordings, he allows tapers to use the soundboard, and i haven't listened to hardly any of them yet either. btw, Ryan just re-launched his Pax Am record label. looks like there will be some new recordings coming out soon
  20. anyone know if Wilco played another song? i've noticed that whenever Ryan Adams plays Letterman, he always plays 2 songs, one which is filmed specifically for us music fiends on the net and the other which airs on the tv.
  21. i'm constantly air drumming to IATTBYR or humming the bass line to Handshake Drugs.
  22. i've been harvesting some premium grade vibes in my closet. you can have a handful of em for free but anything extra will cost you. joking aside, hope the interview went well and its great to see that you're optimistic about it.
  23. aww, i didn't name my mix for the person i sent my disc to. i feel bad now. this was still great fun and i hope you all will be willing to do this again soon.
  24. i'll be going to NYC as well this Friday and i'm taking my friend who's never been before. we'll be staying at the Chelsea Hotel which seems to be a spot most tourists tend to visit. i walked by it a couple of years ago and almost fell out when i realized where i was standing. anyways, my friend and i are both into flea markets so we'll be hitting up the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market as well as some vinyl shops. i'm also a big Kerouac nerd so i plan on going to St. Patrick's cathedral to find that little blue window Kerouac mentions in Visions of Cody. if you're into books, the Strand bookstore i
  25. don't feel bad, barbkm. i'll be in NYC that next Friday. so close yet so far....
