  1. Is this not their second (maybe third) straight Sept. swoon? They went from being a dead-lock for the wild card to being tied with Philly, whom they could not beat this weekend. Might as well fire him now and see if it works.
  2. Our local diner was on that show once. http://www.theevereadydiner.com/
  3. I had a banana today with my Kashi cereal. Strawberries too. The Dow fell out its asshole today.
  4. Shit trickles down a lot faster than money.
  5. Me too, and I don't own shit, except some Mets throwbacks and some old D&D books. Thank cod my sister is rich.
  6. My homie Franklin D. once said something about having to save capitalism from the capitalists.
  7. Dude, even al-Qaida has CNN. Their opposition to the Western way of life goes far deeper than any party's policy, but I would imagine they take a tactical interest in who's in charge over here. If I were Osama I would endorse Obama, so McCain would win and get more Muslims to hate America.
  8. Honestly, I doubt many politicians stay up at night worrying about the people who don't vote. Standard GOP theory is that since they are the minority party in terms of enrollment, the fewer people who vote, the better it is for them.
  9. Yes. This may be why I don't write as much as I ought to.
  10. Man. Reminds me of the talks I had with my friends over whether writing makes one insane or insanity makes one write. I still don't know the answer to that question. I hope he is at peace now.
  11. FWIW, I think the media gave Ron Paul, et al., a fair amount of publicity. Had they gotten any traction in the polls, I am sure they would have gotten more. And there's always the Internet, where anyone can see anything they like. So, it could be that the message of Ron Paul and Nader and McKinney and suchlike, just do not resonate with enough Americans to make them players.
  12. I can read quite well, Chris. My response was a comment on your apparent reluctance/refusal to participate in a system you disdain and what could happen as a result of that.
  13. No matter what your reasons, if you don't vote for something you agree with, that something gets one less vote. It usually doesn't, but it might make a difference. I am not unsympathetic to third parties and agree with them on many things. I just don't think they'll ever reach critical mass to make any sort of positive difference, so supporting them is supporting a spoiler.
  14. If you do not choose the lesser evil, do you not then get the greater?
  15. The U.S. has really, really done Latin America dirty over the past 100-plus years or so. Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala leap to mind immediately. This is why I don't get upset over illegal immigration - it is the least we in America can do to let people from these countries come in and do our shit-work. I would love to see some sort of restructuring of the relationships between us and our neighbors to the south based on fairness and mutual cooperation and respect. The Cuba embargo still may work - let's give it another 20 years or so!
  16. The e-mail came from Ireland. Maybe it was a mischievous leprechaun.
