Rolling Stone should be burned to the ground and salt sown into the ground where it once stood. I can think of few things which better symbolize how degenerated the '60s ideal has become.

I was an early adopter of Coldplay, having been just about the first kid on the block to buy "Parachutes" I think in the early months of 2001. I certainly liked the album at the time, but they do indeed suffer from being overplayed. I like some of their subsequent work, especially that "Moses" song, though I don't think they're all that great of a band. (I always thought Travis was better.) But maybe Eno will bring something out that wasn't obvious previously.

We passed by the IFC in NYC yesterday, where it has been playing, but had no time for it.

I love melatonin. Since I am in fact a Nosferatu, undead, and sleep during the day, I also put in earplugs and sometimes tie a bandana around my eyes. If I had my way, I'd sleep in a darkened pod of gel warmed to 98.6 degrees.

It has been noted that for all the hand-wringing we do about socialized medicine in this country, we in essence have it, as if you don't have health insurance and get sick, you end up in the hospital and run up absurdly high bills. And that cost gets passed on to the taxpayers, who subsidize Medicare/Medicaid and the hospital system. I think there just needs to be a more efficient way to do it. No one but the most fringed of fringe groupers is suggesting that sick people be turned away from medical care because they can't pay for it. We're not that kind of society anymore.

I'd give "Chutes Too Narrow" a listen. It's a pretty tasty record, and of the classic 45-minute-or-so length.
