I'm sure it will be a CO-LOSSAL hit in Boston. -
Glad to hear Ace is doing better. He used to live around here and was apparently quite the drunkard.

New hats for the beisbol players
bjorn_skurj replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I've paid more than that. There's a joint in Cooperstown which will make you any baseball hat from any team you can imagine from any year for $50. Nice work, they do. -
Between this and the XM-Sirius merger, my world has been rocked to-day. MLB doffs wool caps, adopts new synthetic material Eds: Moving on general news and sports services. By CAROLYN THOMPSON Associated Press Writer BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - One question facing Major League Baseball this season: Will cooler heads prevail? On opening day, the league will doff the traditional wool cap in favor of a new polyester blend model designed to wick away sweat before it can stream down a player's face. The change is part of Commissioner Bud Selig's focus on boosting player performance, a league offici

I read or heard that most people who kill themselves never sought psychological help at any time.

128 is the default, which doesn't sound bad for most things, but 192 is better.

The Hunter S. Thompson Appreciation Thread
bjorn_skurj replied to mountain bed's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Dr. Thompson was both an incredibly entertaining writer and possessed of a rare ability to penetrate right to the truth of things. Gonzo is supposed to be like throwing a bottle of acid (the corrosive kind) against reality to strip off all the gunk collected in the form of lies, affectations and artifice. He did our nation and our world a great service, telling the blunt truth in an era where what's real is increasingly hidden away from us. I wish his life had more happiness in it and that he could have found a way to go on, but if anyone had earned the right to choose the manner and moment of -
I have a very fond memory of walking, no, strutting, down the hall at my high school blasting Uriah Heep's "Easy Livin'" out of a Sony boombox. That was a good box - the radio part still works to this day.

Both big markets, both with fans that still, for whatever bizarre and unjustifiable reasons, love those teams. I would like to see the actual ratings for that game and compare them to, say, a Columbus-Nashville matchup.

Is this a form of mental illness, putting out all these songs? Dude needs an editor.

As the editor of a newspaper, I put a lot of care and worry into how the newspaper looks and reads. I work hard to make it the best newspaper it can be. But once I'm done with it and it hits the streets, I have no control over what happens to it. I would hope my readers cherish every issue, binding them together in books so their journalistic brilliance can be savored for years to come. But they mostly get thrown in the trash, used to housebreak animals or piled and forgotten until it's time to clean out the garage. The point being I have NO control over what happens to the paper when I am don

So very, very, very good.

I've said this before, but to me critics are at heart consumer protectionists, trying to alert people so they spend their entertainment dollar more effectively. That said, taste is the hardest thing of all to quantify - it can't be rated like one would rate toasters or water softeners. And some critics, who, it must be said, are artists themselves, can't resist showing off their chops at the expense of the reviewed, but I appreciate their efforts.

For me it evokes a certain kind of deep compassion for the suffering of others that is only achieved through great suffering.

Don't start with me, or I'll start posting some stories that will get this whole board picketed by the Lambdas.
