What's the consensus on Wilco (The Album)?
bjorn_skurj replied to Shining Sunbeam's topic in Just A Fan
Yes. This thread had as much chance of attaining its goals as Woodrow Wilson did at Versailles. -
I want a Bernie Sanders T-shirt for Christmas.

Bernie Sanders, God bless him, was giving Bernanke a hard time, but I am pretty sure Bernanke will be re-upped. And yes, he is more powerful than the president.

I rebut that with THIS. (Mildly NSFW) My link

Afghanistan Thread--Vietnam comparison and Nobel Peace Prize
bjorn_skurj replied to Panther's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
It is interesting, since the Bruderhof (of which Johann is the pastor) started in Germany and fled the Nazi regime or got driven out. They were all fled to England by the time the war started. -

Letter to the editor in this week's: History proves war doesn’t work I was saddened by our president’s acceptance speech for theNobel Peace Prize. He missed a chance to witness to courage and leadership.True, Mr. Obama was awarded the prize and did not seek it for himself. However, even the Nobel Committee acknowledged that what they were rewarding was achange in direction, more than any concrete achievements for peace. Sadly, thecommittee missed the irony of awarding the prize to a President who is wagingtwo wars. It is nice that Mr. Obama invoked the memories of MohandasK. Gandhi and Ma -
Afghanistan Thread--Vietnam comparison and Nobel Peace Prize

I think a lot of people (not just in this thread, but in Woodstock, at least) projected a lot of things on Obama, when really he is a centrist and his main selling point was that he was not Hillary Clinton. -
Edit: This is Good Old Neon.

Would it be morally responsible to, having gone into both Iraq and Afghanistan and blowing the shit out of the place, including whatever governmental structure was there at the time, leave without having at least a modicum of stability in its place? Is that really what Obama proposed in 2008? Is that really something people should support? In this case especially, Obama is just trying to manage a situation left him by the biggest menagerie of boobs, morons and villains in U.S. political history - the administration of George W. Bush. -
Two words: Women's curling.

Jeebus - is his walk-up music "Baby's Got Back"?

Tiger's dad went Asian, IIRC.

Jimmy Page - "The Rover"?

"After hearing of rumored Halladay to Phillies deal, sources confirm Omar Minaya has tendered Butch Huskey a 12-year, $438mm offer."

Or, a portrait pic on one side, with three smaller landscape pics on the other. (Thanks for the kind comments about "Hooptie in Autumn"!) I also think one (or more) of the months should be a collage of the various VC gathering pics that have been accumulated over the years.

Looking like Phils are going to get Halladay. This would conceivably put the Mets in a position where they would HAVE to sign somebody big (Holliday) but they will probably counter by signing Vlad Guerrero and resigning Delgado. FMT.

I haven't really had a lot of good things to say about the Rangers, that is for shit sure.

I have no idea what this band sounds like, but its name reminds me of a time 20 or so years ago when my cousin, who was visiting from a porn-deprived state in the Midwest, said to me, "Let's get a dirty movie - a double triple X-er!"

Yup. Prince solo was very good, but not the best ever. -
Wilco has 2 albums in Rolling Stones 100 Greatest of the Decade

ST was a 1999 release, and thus not in the purview of the RS list, which is the topic of the thread. You are, of course, free to love it as much as you like. -

The CD of AGIB sounds so luscious coming out of my car stereo speakers. It is like melted milk chocolate. -
Army and Navy used to be good football teams too, but no longer.
