  1. I thought that was just a rumor. Wasn't there a fake tracklist and album name circulating?
  2. I don't want to hijack the thread but I personally disagree. I find that in his earlier work he would more often take a melody or lyrical idea and transform it. Modern Times feels like he is just regurgitating others work. Point to songs in his early catalogue that have the same title, melody, lyrics, and theme as another song. I'd say its pretty hard to find. Even on Love and Theft he didn't do what I just said. Look at Tweedle Dee And Tweedle Dum its obviously "Uncle John's Bongo's" but Dylan does a good job of changing the lyrics and themes. Most of Modern Times doesn't have Dyla
  3. Being as though a majority of the music is pulled from other sources and the lyrics are based off of others works. I would say they aren't completely his. Love and Theft and Time Out Of Mind used the technique of pulling from other sources much more tastefully. Modern Times doesn't even try to hide the sources in many instances. On top of that I thought it was crap; where as Love And Theft really added to the material it pulled from.
  4. I herd about this a while ago. Who knows if it will be good. At least Bob isn't going to pull another Modern Times and claim the songs are his
  5. well why were all highlighting macca at his worst; how bout his best
  6. I never said the blood wasn't on my hands. Tag your it. I just want to say I never stated I know everything. I never said I wasn't also a part of the problem. I was just pointing out that their is a problem. One of them being that most people don't realize they are in fact part of it.
  7. You work in this country and make money. That money is taxed by the government. This simple action funded the war. You bought things with the money you made. These purchases were taxed. This funded the war. Simple enough? ON that note though I'm out for the evening. Goodnight!
  8. What do we spend more money on? The middle east or africa. Who are you kidding. People are getting saluterd all over Africa and it doesn't seem like stopping the violence is on the top of our list.
  9. Yes you personally did it. And every dollar YOU and I spend is contributing to the continue the effort. These tax dollars are also not properly distributed. The education system your contributing to is actually working as an oppressive force in many cases. I don't know what kind of community you live in but goto an inner city school and then check out a rich suburb. The rich get to stay rich while the poor get left behind.
  10. My path? Currently I'm studying business in school so I have a better understanding of how this evil corporate machine works. I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do once I graduate. I plan on going into some field where I will benefiting others. I also try to talk to everyone I know about sharing and trying to minimize their purchases and expand their minds. Knowledge is the greatest tool anyone has. I'm am currently trying to gain as much as possible and figure out the path to go down. When I entered college I was a film major and decided that path was not a good path for ma
  11. Health care already is unaffordable. Social Security more then likely won't be here when and if I could retire. China already is the second biggest kid on the block. My girlfriend's cousin is a congressmen and to quote him "if you know whats good for you you'll start learning chinese now".
  12. Yes, it is causing them. But your geographical location isn't the root of the problem. Living in this country puts blood on your hands through the payment of tax dollars. It's on everyone's hands. Leaving a bad situation only takes you out of it. It doesn't stop it from happening. So if the end of the action is your concern (mine) you wouldn't leave.
  13. ostensibly nice word. Nobody said moving somewhere else would fix the worlds problems.
  14. i was referring to evolution. And isn't the fact your presented enough to say we need to be helping everyone out. We are all part of the same family.
  15. I believe this is where you defended your situation. From what I gather here you work and make enough to support your family. No assuming
  16. its at the cost of other HUMANS, ANIMALS, AND THE WHOLE ENVIRONMENT. Not to mention the future of our planet. How can you be content worrying about your family? Humans have been on the planet for over a million years. Your only a small insignificant part of that journey that will hopefully continue after your gone. What makes your life more valuable? a Man made system of commerce?
  17. I know that living in america you are doing better then a good majority of the planet.
  18. I would only call it nonsense if anyone in the discussion expected the world to be changed by the time the thread reaches page thirty. Otherwise its thought provoking conversation. The worst thing that is going to happen is everyone involved can question their values, see if they can explain their position and maybe better understand someone they don't agree with. Ideally each of us can walk away feeling stronger about our belifs weather they change or stay the same.
  19. hmmm.... happy buying their family goat meat. It sure is nice to be a white male living in america isn't gary. Have you ever thought that these people getting the shaft has just as much potential for human accomplishment as you do? Just because a condition is normal for someone doesn't make it right. On top of this people living in the western world are polluting the fuck out of the planet, this in process is fucking up these peoples environment. So not only do we exploit their labor but their environment as well. On top of this we don't pay them enough to help build their nations
  20. if that isn't the reasoning; you tell me why then?
  21. Irrelevant for two reasons. 1. Even if they are paying these people median wages the companies are seeing extremely high returns on these products. This justifys employee raises. 2. Median wages in these countries won't break the cycle of poverty. Also most of the time these corporations are formed in the united states; they out source in order to escape minimum wage and other employment requirements. Then turn around and sell the products in our market at inflated values. Instead of taking care of one of their most important stake holders (their employees) they are keeping t
  22. Absolutely. I was talking about this with a friend the other day. If you want to be culturally relative its okay for companies do this since the societies they are taking the bussiness to are okay with it. I think its our duty as a nation to refuse these products to be brought into the United States. If the production of a product doesn't meet the standards we hold for our own people it shouldn't be brought in here. Especially if it was a corporation based out of the Untied States taking advantage of unfair laws and economic systems in other nations. Every product imported into the Uni
  23. This is just laughable. Since when has age been an indication of intelligence. I find it to be ridiculously more immature of the lot of you that countine to insult and instigate rather have input in the coverstation then my poor spelling. Here is a little poem by Charles Bukowski on the revlevance of age and intelligence; it's titled "I Met A Genius": I met a genius on the train today about 6 years old, he sat beside me and as the train ran down along the coast we came to the ocean and then he looked at me and said, it's not pretty. In short I've learned more from some eight
