  1. Usually the setup for ticketed Summerstage shows is there's a tent near the entrance to handle will call/guest list/media/etc. I've never had to do will call for a show there, and I assume it would be kind of nightmarish if the whole thing was will call only, but there is an actual entrance and a "box office" set up like at any outdoor show.
  2. Damn, foiled! Sneaky German Rolling Stone...
  3. Resurrecting this thread from long ago, but just noticed one line at the bottom of the most recent Daytrotter e-mail: "Also, looks like we have a raincheck date for our Wilco taping." So looks like this'll happen at some point after all. Makes more sense with the new record coming out anyway.
  4. Well, there you go. I suppose there's virtually no show these days that someone isn't recording in some form or another... Out of curiosity, is it just Jeff's set, or Pat's as well?
  5. I didn't see any mike stands or anything, but you never know if someone was stealthing. Wouldn't get my hopes up, though.
  6. Sorry for the delay. Just posted setlists for Jeff and Pat's sets, and a modest account of the show... http://wp.me/p1sUtq-4J
  7. In Jeff's defense, I think he was having some pretty serious vocal issues right around the time of that Tipitina's show (3/5/08). At one of those gigs (a moment I think is captured on the Ashes DVD), he mentions having to go see the doctor and getting some sort of throat injection or something. Anyway, the next show on that run -- in Houston (3/7/08) -- was the worst condition I've ever seen Jeff in vocally. I was seriously worried that he might not be able to make it through the entire show. He did, of course, but it wasn't pretty. So maybe that has something to do with the vocal aspect of
  8. Just listened to the two again back-to-back and I'm pretty certain that it's the album version on the comp. There aren't any comments in the liner notes, just the lyrics to the song and who played what [e.g. Jeff Tweedy: vocals, acoustic guitar, wurlitzer; Jay Bennett: drums, upright bass, delayaphone, bells], which matches the Mermaid 2 credits. Also, other songs on the comp are noted as "acoustic demo" or "demo" or "alternate studio version" and Someday, Some Morning, Sometime isn't. Is there a reason you think it would be a different version? I was at that show. It was always a tre
  9. It hasn't been abandoned, but it's in a bit of a transitional phase, I believe. I think they're trying to find a way to incorporate it into the band's Web site somehow. I know people are working on it, fwiw.

Cool footage! Thanks for uploading. Maybe we'll actually see that Black Gang record that's in the can one of these days...
  11. FYI, I got my copy of this comp today, and it seems to just be the album version of Someday, Some Morning, Sometime from Mermaid Avenue, Vol. 2. Jeff and Jay are the lone players on this song. Still great to hear, of course, but don't buy this comp expecting a previously unreleased live version or anything. That said, do buy the comp because it's for a good cause and there's a lot of other cool stuff on there.
  12. Will post the complete setlist for tonight's show shortly over at setlistguy.wordpress.com...
  13. Here's the complete setlist for Door Community Auditorium, and a little commentary... Thumb of the mitten...I love it! Great to see you guys, as always! And P.S., I totally forgot to say thanks for procuring the tickets...
  14. I don't think I've ever seen that! Maybe next time I come over to one of your houses... I found a VC mousepad not too long ago, haha!
  15. It makes perfect sense for them to announce the first wave of dates this week, in the immediate afterglow of Solid Sound, so I figured they would. Hopefully there's a Chicago show, either at the start or the end of the run (or perhaps around Thanksgiving), lest people around here get all bent out of shape...

  17. A little commentary and the complete setlists for Wilco and Syl Johnson here.
  18. For Brennan, and anyone else that might care, I also posted a rough setlist for the Pajama Club set last night at the above link. I'm obviously guessing at a few of the song titles...
  19. Kristofor got it mostly right, but you can find the complete setlist here: I got your setlist right here
  20. Reggie is awesome. I've seen him maybe five or six times and no show is ever the same. He's one of the few people, maybe the only person, who marries improv and standup comedy. Certainly one of the few to marry those two with music. Very cool that he and Glenn (and Buke and Gass) all collaborated on something!
  21. Totally agree with Tony that Syl Johnson's set is gonna be something to see, for sure. The Sweet Divines are a cool girl group and if, as I suspect, the band is the same one that backed Syl last December in Brooklyn, that's going to be some show before Wilco plays. Looking forward to it!
  22. Here I am! I doubt I have all the answers, but in my experience, GA lines in the UK are MUCH mellower than in the States. London would be the only place I would expect there to be much of an early forming queue, but I suppose as the band has gotten more popular abroad, there might be a slight uptick in early queuers, but probably not too much. Of course no one is likely to be as indifferent to queue-ing as the Irish. At least in my experience...
  23. I think Nels half jokingly called this his (or their) "metal" album. It's pretty heavy music, as I recall, and very intensely played, as befitting the oven-like conditions at the Stone that night.
  24. Yeah, damn those webcasts! Just kidding. I couldn't make it to the Gorge this time -- would love to go someday -- but happened to turn on the NPR stream just when the Decemberists were going on. So, of course I stayed up late to catch the Wilco set as well. First time I've actually listened to a webcast show and, while it's no substitute for actually being there, I thought it was pretty cool. So kudos to NPR. I had to laugh when the commentators were speculating about new songs, though, because most of us knew that they almost certainly weren't going to play anything new. Anyway, I do symp
