  1. Can (happily) confirm that the above setlist is complete and correct... I thought the pacing of the show was quite good tonight. So glad to get to hear The Lonely 1. And I'm A Wheel is always a welcome closer. Nice to see you again, Heike! You'll have to let us know what you thought of the show.
  2. Doubt there's much anyone can do about it, I'm afraid. By and large it just sort of seems to be the way of the Germans, especially when given an option to sit down. It's not even the standing/sitting thing as much as it seems like a lot of the crowds here are just more cerebral when it comes to music. I realize different people engage with music in different ways, but it is a little mystifying to me when you look around and barely see any heads bobbing or toes tapping. Germans are definitely appreciative of good music, don't get me wrong, but I just mean to say that a lot of them don't seem
  3. Just had a chance to post the setlist in the usual spot. Will follow up with a few comments in a minute.
  4. What, did you think I'd retired? And for that matter, can't I? Well, someday it'll happen and it'll be left to you to pick up the slack. I'm happy to report that I'm still kicking, though, and God willing, will make it to Berlin in a few days' time to properly hoist a stein with you and your better half (and others). There wasn't much banter at the show last night, but the French truck stop bit was gold. Poor Jeff, though. He really didn't look well for the first half of the show. Then maybe his performers' stubbornness to persevere kicked in. Wilco band and crew have had some pretty ro
  5. Thought we might be eatin' some BBQ together...
  6. Yeah, what? It seems like that definitely would have been reported prior to now. It's a little hard to tell if the writer is just talking about the Racoonists' recording, but the bit about jamming at the edge of the stage on the last track definitely seems to indicate that he was suggesting Spencer was at the show? I wasn't there, but if that happened, I can't believe someone wouldn't have mentioned it already...
  7. You tell 'em, Queenie! If it ain't Scottish, it's crap!
  8. Now I'm seriously jealous! Glad you guys got to see that, and here's hoping they keep that number in the set when Nick rejoins the band in the USA in a few weeks...
  9. If they did indeed play Sunloathe, that would be the first time they've ever done it live...
  10. Giving it a listen right now. Cool to hear some of those old World Cafe sessions...
  11. I got my copy yesterday. Nice to have you guys back in print, and best of luck going forward!
  12. Sounds pretty crazy. Perhaps this thread should be retitled to "There's a fight, what fight?" From @roddyhart: A strange occurrence at a Wilco gig. Quiet song, then two guys in the balcony: the "C" word, a headbutt, four punches, ejected, police. Yeesh.
  13. Haha! As per the recent Wilco Facebook picture post from backstage at Glasgow: Forget The Flowers ---> Forgit th' flowers. Not as exciting, somehow...
  14. Yeah, unfortunately had to make a tough call on which tour leg to hit. My prediction skills are still OK, I guess, but they keep on adding more songs. Buggers!
  15. I think this was my favorite line: "One great sign about new independent rock bands, over the past few years, has been a noticeable uptick in the number whose names are vulgar jokes, or deliberately inappropriate..." I mean, can you really take seriously anyone who judges music based on a band's name? Anyway, I thought it was worth posting the article because I'm sure there are plenty of people who think this way. I admire the attitude and ideas of bands like Fucked Up as much as the next person, but when it comes to music, I guess I admire musicianship and singing and the ability to craft
  16. Funny, I thought when you did that you came up with a picture of 50ftqueenie... Have fun at the Glasgow show, which by my calculations should be getting going in just a little while now!
  17. Obviously I don't agree with most of this writer's sentiments, and it's not really anything we haven't heard before, but I guess it's at least something worth discussing... From New York magazine:
  18. Looks like Wilco tweeted yesterday that the support act on the West Coast run will be White Denim. I'm not overly familiar with their music, but I'm pretty sure Jeff namechecked their record (or one of their records) in a recent interview.
  19. I saw Gary Louris solo there a while back and it was seated on the main floor--not assigned seats--but I can't imagine that this one will be seated at all except for the balcony stools...and maybe not even those. They'll want to be able to get as many people as possible in there.
  20. The routing might not always make the most sense, but I don't think it really matters that much to the band/crew. They each have a bus and a driver and they all sleep overnight as they're headed to the next stop. So while the schedule is grueling in some ways, I don't really think getting sleep is the worst of it...
  21. Not to reply to my own post, but I just got a shipping notification from Sandbag this morning. Which is, what, like 9 or 10 days before the event? This seems kind of ridiculous to me, especially considering I just received some tickets yesterday that I ordered for next year's European tour (and those from Italy, no less). Granted I paid a pretty healthy shipping charge, but I don't think Sandbag is especially cheap when it comes to shipping. Pretty much any other ticketing agency I've used for European shows you've either been able to print-at-home or you pay a decent shipping charge but you g
  22. Haha, sorry! Didn't mean to tease your brain so early in the AM. Indeed, it'd be a lot of fun to see Wilco at Lincoln Hall... I'm curious to see how the price tag affects things. I'm sure it really won't in this case, but I always find it a little weird that some people balk at the price for Jeff's solo benefits at the Vic and that they usually have to knock the price down to get the place sold out. Maybe that's not as true anymore. And granted, the Vic is a lot bigger than Lincoln Hall and it's just Jeff but it's always an interesting dynamic to me. Then again, it's also weird to me how
  23. Update: Well, it looks like it's on sale through etix so at least it'll be a little better than it otherwise would have. I'm sure they (wisely) realized that the Schubas/Lincoln Hall servers wouldn't be able to handle the traffic. Still gonna be an extremely tough ticket, I'm guessing, since Lincoln Hall is about half the size (if that) of Metro...
  24. Funny, I turned on XRT right at 7:30 (or so I thought) just to hear one of these announcements and I somehow still missed it. But they just reannounced it. So yeah. I will say that the Schubas/Lincoln Hall server isn't necessarily the greatest when it comes to high traffic, in my past experience, so hopefully the price tag will deter at least some people...or God bless us.
