Starting to absolutely love this. What, I'm only 8 or 9 years too late?

Love you both back!

There 's a track on it that I just keep going back to. It's a kid's voice over be-bop, repeating 'It's like, It's like umm'. Really brings home the idea of using voices as rhythm. Interesting article from Carl Wilson (the 33 and 1/3 writer) about speech and song in discussion with Spearin: http://www.zoilus.com/documents/general/2009/001322.php

these mixes do look great. Older one from me. http://www.divshare.com/download/7602967-c05 1) Jon Rae Fletcher ā Big Talker Jon lost his band and best friend last year. This is his mea culpa for the whole bad situation as he returned to Victoria and enlisted Katherine Calder (Immaculate Machine) and Darcy Hancock (Ladyhawk) to help record a batch of songs that say Iām sorry. The record was supposedly recorded in 40 minutes yet it has taken me the first half to the year to realize just how brilliant it is. 2) Rock Plaza Central ā Oh I Can. Chris Eaton and th

Pretty good. The Moon. Ghosts. The horizon. The devil. Shadows. Is there a white winged dove?

This is pretty great, with liner notes from the irrepressible Vish Khanna: http://www.asthmatickitty.com/music.php?releaseID=121

What do you think? I've tried and tried, but something's just off and makes me run for the skip button. normally I would be loving this type of band to high heaven... NP - One Hundred Dollar - Black Gold (which is also about Alberta)

So I take it Fucked Up is safe and predictable?

Backing up the Kalle for a second, this is probably the only Metric album that can even be called good. Previously, their rock star attitude and enlarged sense of how popular they were was not backed up by any kind of quality. That 'Pretend we're Rock Stars, when when we have not sold dick and produce really boring music' was a complete turn off. that said, the new album is ok. not good enough for the top ten, but pretty good.

Never heard the demos for Brooklyn Side before. Love 'em http://atruersound.blogspot.com/2009/07/bottle-rockets-brooklyn-side-demos.html

This looks like so much fun. I will be at 'Paterson's Backyard' on July 24th for my portion of the tour. Entry to the concert is dependent on bringing a macrame lawn chair and jellied salad. It does sound like they are going across the country playing almost none of the usual venues: ' Bedrooms And Backstreets Tourdates Announced! Hey there This summer, we're going to be heading across Canada doing a different tour than we're used to doing. We have nearly 30 dates, and the large majority of them will be free of charge and in alternative venues such as house parties, backyards,

Excellent song by song low down on Rock Plaza Central's At the Moment of Our Most Needing...' I pass by that very bench at least twice a week. http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/2009/06/track-by-track-rock-plaza-central-at-the-moment-of-our-most-needing/comment-page-1/#comment-18466 'I can bear a hill' fuck, I love this band and album.

http://1hundreddollars.blogspot.com/2009/06/manhattan-williamsburg-bovina.html Literally this is the best country act Canada has produced since, I dunno, Ian Tyson, Corb Lund or the Cowboy Junkies. Live they are simply incredible. If you can go and see this band with the 5 or 6 other people who will turn out, go!

Same - I remember being soo pissed off at that last record in 2004, I sorta stopped being a fan. Still gonna buy the B-sides and try to hit the tribute concert in Guelph. What also got me was leafing through 'This Book is Broken'. Lots of Three-gut/Cons/RC memories. Thinking too that as much as I like Jim Guthrie, it's Nathan Lawr's records that I play and enjoy more.
