  1. I like to call The Roloffs by a different name- The Showoffs. Could they possibly buy any more stuff?!?!
  2. I believe the north rim is partially or fully closed in winter, just a warning. My favorite place on Earth is Monument Valley on the border of AZ and UT... you have to have a Navajo guide to go into the valley but there are tons at the park that offer touring services. Highly recommended. The GC will probably be cold and/or snowy... don't slip. If you aren't lucky enough to have reservations in the park at the El Tovar, I think staying in Flagstaff is preferable to staying in Williams (both gateways to the park). Flagstaff has some historic buildings, a cute downtown, a world renowned t
  3. Did anyone watch the 60 minutes story about that town in Maryland that was the DHL hub? It brought me to tears seeing honest, hardworking families who are stocking up on food to make sure they can eat after they're laid off. My company did layoffs last week... thank goodness I was spared. Its such a sad reality and it is all over the country. Crazy.
  4. for the crazies: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfrppZ50QQfrtsZ...QQsassZpropworx
  5. The Chicago PBS station showed Barack Obama's Check Please! episode tonight. He recommended the Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop in Hyde Park for peach cobbler, corn cakes, and a great family atmosphere. http://www.wttw.com/main.taf?p=1,5
  6. that was informative... i am really glad my parents didn't give me away on my wedding day wrapped in a gold coin chain.
  7. I never did see that show... thats nuts that they're in the US, how interesting! I wonder where they are most often found? What a lifestyle... school on a bus! that actually sounds pretty fun... are the Travellers against going to school in a building, though? I'm curious why it was done that way. wow, that is a very cool observation... she doesn't seem like the type to be mending anything! My mom is a fan of some band called the Wicked Tinkers. So from their name I would guess they either really love or really despise gypsies.
  8. uno, dos, tres, catorce. or, maybe i've always loved: fence slats rattling fingers pushing through slowly brushing past a fast glimpse of you at least i think thats what it says.
  9. hey, does anyone here know a gypsy? I'm super curious what they're like in this modern day in age. Wikipedia just told me that there are many thousands of them in the UK. All I have to go off of are the gypsy circus people in the U2 'All I Want Is You' video.
  10. My #1: Diet Coke (sweet, sweet love) best out of a fountain with ice through a straw (I haven't been to McDonald's in years so I can't recall if I ever thought it was better than other places). next best in a COLD can, then glass bottle and then plastic at the bottom (ewwwwww.. I hate plastic bottles to pieces). Coke Zero is nice to have every once in a while and real coke every once in a great while (usually at a party with 2 liters and plastic cups or something). I am also fond of Diet Dr Pepper but rarely drink it. Two other great sodas I never drink: Ruby Red Squirt (or regular S
  11. i once went on a road trip from san diego to LA to san diego to las vegas to denver to st louis to chicago to louisville to ann arbor to cleveland to new york to philadelphia to asheville to memphis to carbondale to chicago to flagstaff to la to san diego. that was pretty fun. I think i got some of those places out of order. i've been dying to take another road trip but i don't think it will happen this year. there is something about being young and unencumbered that makes a road trip so much easier and more exciting.
  12. my favorite is season 4.. season 2 is second. BUT, they are all really awesome so ranking is really kind of moot.
  13. So... Blago went to work today?! And waved to reporters who tried to ask him questions? Waved?! They'd better vote for that special senate seat election soon.
  14. This doesn't always work. My landlords don't even shovel their own sidewalk/steps let alone ours (they live next door). My last apartment was similar- the walk would get shoveled but not until a day or two after it snowed.
  15. nah, just making a living using Google image search on Saturday evenings
  16. I was so busy this year that I didn't get around to posting my usual autumn thread. Although the season runs another month, here in Chicago the leaves have nearly emptied from the trees and the nights (and some days) have been sub-freezing. I'm still hanging on to a few pumpkins and enjoying the last few leaves dancing when the wind blows. in memory of autumn...
  17. thanks! I was having trouble locating it in the sea of fancy election reporting.
  18. Thats what I've been trying to figure out... anyone in CA with state returns on Prop 8 (and Prop 2, while you're at it)?
  19. that was kris'! it came out to be so sad!
  20. I'm wearing a Pancho Villa mustache and a newsboy cap. I guess I look like a pizza delivery guy.
  21. i love maps so much that my dad used to call me Ali McNally. I also had very few friends as a child.
