  1. LOVE this album. I think it's their best since YHF. To me WTA and TWL are great albums, they are not classics, and I tend not to go to them too often anymore. this is one that I'll be going to for a long time. I really like that it is all new- usually by the time the album comes out I'm familar with 3/4's of the material because they've been playing it live- so cool to have it all fresh. Magnatize and Satelite are up there with the band's best material.
  2. I was just reading the book Compass of Pleasure by David Linden which is about the pleasure centers of the brain and addiction. I was hardly expecting a brief discussion of tweedy. It was about how after he quit drugs he became addicted to running and ended up with two fractured legs.
  3. Scored Wednesday and Friday tickets! Anyone else going? I think there may be some tix left for a couple of the shows. I've been waiting 11 years for this one.

    New album news!

I love the trifecta. Band song and album all in one called Wilco. They are now amongst the ranks of Black Sabbath and Bad Company.
  5. Seems pretty easy to get tix on the general sale. I went for the 150 seats at around 10:10 and got row a, center left. There are still tix in all of the price ranges available.
  6. I can only think of one band that has previously done this: Bad Company. Meaning, having a band name, album name and song name all in one. They haven't yet had an eponymous album, and now have Wilco the song. We can only hope that perhaps for the first time since 1973 we have this alignment.
  7. Beeper King: "she said she was 16 but i could tell she was 22"
  8. I am voting for him, but, that really was dumb. I hope this makes sense, but it felt like a dimestore version of something that should have been done brilliantly by Wycleff.
  9. So, do you think the 5 nights will have completely different setlists (obviously with a few songs being repeated), or do you think it will have the basic core setlist and change a few songs night to night?
  10. RIP. As embarrasing as it may be, his band was largely responsible for my love of rock n' roll.
  11. Did anyone notice that this week one of the "issue highlights", which are essentially funny headlines that aren't linked to an actual story, said "Being Into Wilco Put On Resum
  12. I requested It's Just That Simple. John should have his moment.
  13. Wow. This could be one of the most important movies made in a very long time. Unfortunately, my feeling is that people will choose to focus on his glorification of France and Cuba as a way to discredit the primary message.
  14. I don't want to be the one to rain on everybody's parade, but has it occured to you that it might be one of the tracks that has already leaked? Gee, that was fun.
  15. Lawyer here chiming in. They technically could possibly charge him federally for violation of their civil rights, like they did against the Klan members that were found not guilty of the underlying murders in the 60's. It's not likely, but it could be argued that by denying them there right to live is a violation of their civil rights (right to live one's life is a basic civil right).
  16. I called, they said that the word is he will be there, but can't give any more info than that.
  17. If you like Wilco you would probably like these bands, they're my favorite: Morbid Angel Christian Death Sepultura Cannibal Corpse Death Strike Bell & Sebastian Napalm Death
  18. I don't have a real problem with them, they are pretty nice, and you do make a point about perhaps going a little smaller, however, for 700 million dollars they should be big and tight. For me, I'd take those boobs any day.
  19. This whole thing is fucking bullshit. How the hell Paul fucking McCartney tolerated this girl who's half his age telling him he can't smoke a little weed is beyond me. I say whoever wrote the song Let it Be, or Blackbird or Hey Jude, should get to call the shots in the relationship. And also, looking at those photos, her tits aren't even that great, kind of droopy.
  20. I don't think that there was any real physical contact with the broomstick, but the threat itself is enough for an assault, legally speaking.
  21. Anybody watch 60 minutes tonight? Pretty disturbing. Rich white frat boys harass black strippers; Precious gets upset b/c she only made $400 that night; She cops an attitude with the white boys; Frat boy jackass calls her the N word and pushes her buttons; She's now pissed and claiming she was raped. Assault? Probably (broomstick anyone?).....Rape? Probably not... The D.A. should have his ass handed to him. What do you think?
  22. I feel like it's the end of an era. When I was in high school and college I could spend hours there. It was the greatest place. My friends and I have some great shoplifting stories from when we were young and stupid. But the people that used to work there actually seemed to really love music and for the most part seemed to enjoy working there, making it a pleasent enviornment to shop in. In the last couple of years though, it just seemed like a toy store with music only being a small part of their business.
  23. Jeff, I sat behind your mother at one of the Radio City Music Hall shows a couple years ago. There couldn't have been a prouder mom anywhere. So sorry for your loss. -Ben
  24. What I find funny is that back then no one would be caught dead using the term "grunge". People used to use the ironic quotes when saying it. It's funny seeing people use the term so unapologetically now.
  25. I wish I didn't Zeppelin myself out about 15 years ago. For about 5 years I listened to very little but them. Now I can't really listen to them anymore. I'll always say that they are one of my favorite groups, and maybe in short time I'll be ready to get back into them. But here is the list: Houses of the Holy Physical Graffiti Presence III II I IV In through the out door
