pnêyu
He also mentioned that it was their 11th anniversary, & how thankful he was that she has put up with himover the years. The camera on the web cat cut away to Suzie & the look on her face was like, well, yes you really should be thankful!
oceanman
to Ryan and James, I am soo glad for VC...without it, I wouldn't have met some great people to get a lil nutty with. I don't even want to know how many shitty bud lights we consumed throughout friday and saturday... all I know is I am piss broke now... I dont know how 5 dollar bud lights sounded sooo appealing.... Sorry we couldn't meet up for Wilco, seeing that I somehow left my cell at my friends house in the north side, it was pretty difficult to get a hold of anyone. Not to mention, it was a free-for-all to get as good of seats as I did (which was worth every minute sitting there sweaty as hell with my legs cramping up).Grant We can all agree that and other things makes me a llitle woobily. Not at all sorry I couldn't make your all nighter on Sat.James was in a stouper on Sun.,but we shared Wilco together. And James I hope you got home safe.Talk to you guys soon, your great people. Dude
E. Sue would weigh in with her two cents on this fashion stuff but she's still recovering getting kicked in the head by a Flaming Lips crowd surfer.
gatzman
Thoughts on Wilco: Good show. Have not seen them since the fundraiser for New Orleans and really liked the new songs. Had a couple of comments about the fans: 1. Fans that rushed the stage after the Shins concert ought to be ashamed of themselves. They almost ran over multiple people as well as acting like idiots. I had to play traffic cop to stop them from crushing a couple of my friends. Guys - Tweedy will still love you even if you are in the sixth row instead of the fifth row. Seriously relax. 2. But, even saying all of that - I can understand why people wanted to be up front. Fans in the back - if they can be called fans, sucked. Talking the entire time just killed the atmosphere. But that is what I should expect. Overally, lolla was fun and I am happy I went. Saw alot of music and enjoyed the sun. But if you only wanted to see Wilco - good move not going. Guest Jules
Did anyone catch the Death Cab set? 2nd half of it. Pleasantly surprised is all I can say. I had low expectations for some reason, but I was pretty impressed. I regretted watching the first half of Ween instead of the complete Death Cab set.
Tweedy's Gurl
i was fearing for my life after wilco's set....i got kicked in the head by a kid climbing the baracade in attempt to get a setliist and crushed by people demanding little bits of the show (guitar picks, drum sticks, etc). i was trying to grab my purse and get the hell out of there but they all yelled at me to 'get the fuck out of the way if you're not trying to get something'. i hate that stuff so very much. i'm in serious pain from standing all weekend, but i know i'll just do it again. OOO
I am curious to know if anyone from ViaChicago ran into this fellow (me): But anyhow, I would say my Top 5 shows in order were: 1. Wilco2. Flaming Lips3. My Morning Jacket4. Nickel Creek5. The Shins I didn't do as much push to the front early in the day and wait forever as I usually do, but I was pretty close for Wilco, Shins, and the flaming lips. Wayne Coyne walked over me in his bubble, which was a highlight, and Jeff walked next to me at the blisters set, which was satisfying in a stalker sort of way. Great overall concert, though my legs are still tired, and i should have used more sunscreen.
Edie
Hey what was up with that kid that security had by the arms and legs taking him to the stage? esue: And TG, if that was you with the Wilco call during war on war; it was awesome! Oh and a last general Q: was it well run overall?

OOO
the guy was being dragged towards the stage in the middle blocked off thing and then to the side. But he was really being dragged, although he had some signs of fight in him left, so either he had fainted and was exhausted or had gotten drunk and was belligerant, but jeff asked if he was ok and then if he wanted a pick. skip
Prior to Wilco, wasn't Mike a sound engineer at Soma (a Chicago studio)? I thought Nels and Pat were the ones not from Chi-town?
Edie
Yeah, I could see that in the video feed -- the camera actually turned to him. Just wondered if anyone knew the back-story.

oceanman
I only left one side of the park once, for Ween. It's like they made the schedule for my lazy ass.My only complaint was the rap stage that was rather anoying during sets like Iron @ Wine,Andrew Bird, and Calexico, which while being suprising to myself were actually my favs.Calexico's new material was great. Edie
In case this wasn't posted elsewhere, here's Jim DeRogatis' review of Wilco's set, postive (for him): Where there's a Wilco Taking a break from recording its sixth album, which is nearing completion, Chicago's Wilco on Sunday played a riveting set in Butler Field that included a four-song sampling of new material: lyrical pop songs that seem to split the difference between the lilting material on "Summerteeth" and the more experimental sounds of "A Ghost Is Born." Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, these days boasting a beard, performs Sunday. "It's good to be home," singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy announced. He has rarely sounded better or happier, though his unruly new Grizzly Adams beard is a jarring contrast from his old clean-cut image. Wilco's current lineup of Tweedy, bassist John Stirratt, drummer Glen Kotche, guitarist Nels Kline and keyboardist Pat Sansone once again made a case for being the group's best live lineup, ranging from passages of quiet beauty to crashing noise, and recalling the brilliant show across the field at the Petrillo Bandshell when Wilco premiered "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" live on July 4, 2001. gatzman
settle down my friend,Although I am still laughing. We were actually standing up and walking out. But - u know, Wilco fans need to be super agressive and pushy because that is exactly the kind of fans we are. Its bush. Either way - you can say excuse me or pardon me when you barrel people over. But, if I was hardcore I would have slept there the night before. Right?
