mountain bed
Ok, reading through this thread, I have to admit: I miss the mighty Led Zeppelin. They were a staple before AWATT and now I'm very tempted to put them back on the playlist!! Even though LZ hasn't been in heavy rotation for me since high school there will always be a time when I need to hear Dazed & Confused or esp. live Whole Lotta Love. An older cousin of mine let me borrow LZ 1&2 when they came out..I was literally in 1st/2nd grade...had no clue but I knew I loved that shit! Nice to have a mentor

mountain bed
Phish - Guyute, The Divided Sky, Fluffhead, Waves, Seven BelowThese guys really deserve mention.I know folks love to hate 'em,but I think much of the negativity is more directed at the stereotypical 'head' than the music. others:Runaway Jim,Reba,Run Like An Antelope & especially David Bowie
awatt
Did anyone mention Doctor Jimmy, from Quadrophenia? Or what about the entire Tommy album (Underture if not)? Perhaps a new thread for favorite "concept" album?

Perhaps a new thread for favorite "concept" album? Underture is perhaps my favorite piece of Who music...if that riff doesn't quicken your pulse rate, you're a droid or something.. I should search the Archives & find the Peter Fucking Townshend appreciation thread..if there isn't one there should be

awatt
I imagine Townsend transformed the lives of many of us here. When I was a wee lad, listening to Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Chicago, and Elton John, my older brother was playing drums to Who's Next in the next room. It took me a while to mature in my rock tastes, but eventually I did come around...
mountain bed
I imagine Townsend transformed the lives of many of us here.Along with Garcia,in his prime Townshend was a shining example of why Rock was so damn important. One of the best interviews around,he could pontificate at length on an endless variety of subjects..not least of which would be the fervent belief in the power of rock-n-roll to transport the self from the mundane to a higher plane of conciousness where real positive social change could occur. Christ that's why I get so disturbed at seeing his songs being used to sell shit I don't need...Jeff pleeeze don't let this happen to what you've created...life is long,ya know??
