lizish
hearing the hype on this a teeny bit and I thought it refering to the Afghan Whigs. Oh well - I was wrong. This is like Spoon, but better. Edited September 21, 2006 by lizish
mpolak21
Derivative of the Beach Boys? Sure. But it's still one of my favorite records. --Mike

explodo
Also listening to The Information. First couple of tracks are the definition of meh. And I liked Guero...

Elixir Sue
I'm way behind, I know...but I just listened to this for the first time. I'm going to have to join the unpopular person that doesn't like it (I can't remember who that is)...two thumbs way down. :thumbdown
explodo
Joanna Newsom - Ys I can't stop listening to this. I need help.

I'm going to have to join the unpopular person that doesn't like it (I can't remember who that is)...two thumbs way down. :thumbdown yeah, after checking it out a couple of times, i'd have to say it crapped the bore right out of me. shoulda listened to Dr. No's advice. NP: Tortoise - A Lazarus Taxon
explodo
Midlake hit a huge high with me for about two weeks and now I find about half of it good and half of it pretty boring.
solace
still in my top 3 this year along w/ Post-War & TVoTRi guess i just have a soft spot for 70's sounding music you guys better at least fucking like Roscoe?
solace
hearing the hype on this a teeny bit and I thought it refering to the Afghan Whigs. Oh well - I was wrong. This is like Spoon, but better.yeah they're hyped quite a bit promo came a while back, not bad... supposedly wicked live tho
explodo
you guys better at least fucking like Roscoe? Love Roscoe. One of the best songs of the year. Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? Also pretty good. Not their best, but eight times better than Sunlandic Twins or whatever that was.
solace
well that's good at least. it's my #3 or #4 song on the record i think, but still rules ass. 8x better? hmm... Sunlandic had some wicked tunes, but i agree it wasn't that great compared to Satatnic. new one has yet to hit me but i do like it a good deal so far. i can only listne to them every so often. explodo
i can only listne to them every so often.I hear that. And even then, I only listen to a handful of songs here and there. I kind of lump them with Modest Mouse in the "half good, half filler guaranteed" category.
Wendy
Kyle, your avatar has a mind of its own. It can't decide which picture it wants to be.

I'm going to have to join the unpopular person that doesn't like it (I can't remember who that is)...two thumbs way down. :thumbdown Its a grower honest. I didnt like it at all when I first heard it but it suddenly just clicked
Albert Tatlock
Still can never decide if I like it or it is just pretentious
Synthesizer Patel
Its a grower honest. I didnt like it at all when I first heard it but it suddenly just clicked It didn't really grow on me, but I did download it when it first leaked, did not give it a proper chance (skipped quickly through tracks and then deleted it), but then someone on here must have said the right thing to make me download it again (which has never happened before), so I did and got it straight away. So I bought it. It's still my favourite album of the year by a fair distance. Although it's worth baring in mind that I am currently listening to this: ....so the whole theme of the midlake album was always going to sit well with me. (oh, and the fact that andrew bought it and listened to it all through his holiday, and liked it, should be guarantee enough that it's a damn fine album)
