jakobnicholas
I'm late on this also, but wondered if anyoned else likes the new Yo La Tengo? All over the place, but very enjoyable. Edited September 20, 2006 by jakobnicholas
EL the Famous
i like the clips i've heard, but i'm still not quite sure...looking to test drive first.

uwmryan
I need to give it some more time then because I can't get into any of it.
Oil Can Boyd
I like it a lot, particularly after Summer Sun, which was a letdown for me.
bobbob1313
Yeah, I'm enjoying this record a whole lot. Love the album title too.
quarter23cd
YLT albums almost always take a while to grow on me. Haven't heard any of this one yet, but I assume it will be the same.
Scalzunfield
This is my first YLT album (I bought it on a whim) and while they didn't beat my ass, this album definitely kicks some serious ass. What a great record from the Spiders-esque first track all the way through Beatle-esque pop tunes and punkish rockers. This is most likely gonna end up a top 5 album for me this year. El Picador
This is most likely gonna end up a top 5 album for me this year. I agree. This record is fabulous. I love Pass the Hatchet and The Room Got Heavy a lot. Can't get enough.
mpolak21
I am enjoying this one quite a bit as well. I actually liked Summer Sun a lot, making me one of the six people that dug it, but this one feels like classic Yo La Tengo, all over the place and a great mix of noise freak outs and pop songs. It just doesn't get much better then Mr. Tough. --Mike

I am liking it more than all their albums right now.

MrRain422
They used to be one of my favorite bands, but for some reason I've lost interest in them recently. The great reviews for this new one sure makes me wish I still cared about them, though.
deepseacatfish
This is definitely on my list of things to pick up soon.
jhh4321
This record is fantastic and I would say that its the most "immediate" of the YLT records I have heard. Definitely check it out if your new or old to YLT.

solace
really good record. not up there w/ my fave YLT albums really, but as stated above, definitely WAY better than Summer Sun
imsjry
really good record. not up there w/ my fave YLT albums really, but as stated above, definitely WAY better than Summer Sun I really like it a lot. The only issue I have with it is that Yo La has been around so long, this disc sort of feels like, "been there done that". I'm trying not to think about it when I listen to it but at least with Summer Sun, it didn't sound like any of their previous material. This disc sounds like everything they do great thrown into a pot.

ms. yvon
looking forward to hearing this one! i love summer sun. amoeba records in l.a. has a giant album cover display over the store. brings to mind one of the classic onion articles: 37 Record Store Clerks Feared Dead in Yo La Tengo Concert Disaster
solace
actually i kinda agree w/ that comment some... it does sound like a mixture of their older stuff rolled into one record at times.
Deaf Ro
actually i kinda agree w/ that comment some... it does sound like a mixture of their older stuff rolled into one record at times. They have like 12 records and a career going back 20 years, with songs spanning a dozen or two musical genres. Your comment doesn't tell me very much, is all I'm saying. EL the Famous
their cover of sun ra's 'nuclear war' is pretty awesome. i still have yet to listen to this record, but hope to remedy that soon.
