fatheadfred
Boston got too close last night. It was obvious the game was rigged. NBA needs finals to run more than 4 games for revenue. And they played like dogshit all night is the funny thing. Damn, the Lakers suck.
Moltisanti
The officiating in the NBA sucks, but do people really believe that David Stern instructs refs to call games a certain way in order to have a series go six or seven games? You've got to be out of your mind to really believe that.

MrRain422
I don't think it could be kept quiet so successfully if that was the case. But yeah, it's a bad sign for the league that officiating is so bad that so many people believe it could be fixed. Which is pretty much what King Kaufman says there. There's no fix, but jeez, that officiating is so awful that it wouldn't be very difficult to believe.

You've got to be out of your mind to really believe that. It's bigger than Stern. It's the lobbyists (advertisers, abc, espn, nike, W, Cheney, Rumself, Wolfowitz, Pat Robertson, MTV, China, North American Union) ; they're all in on it. I meant the players themselves, not just the refs. And Pierce looked like dung, as did Garnett, as did Rondo, etc. I thought it was weird for the whole team except for Allen to look like mo-lasses. And why does Lamar Odom suck so bad now?
benjamin
And why does Lamar Odom suck so bad now? Odom sucks period. I've heard the baller has made a jump shot in his life. I've never seen him hit one jump shot ever!

LouisvilleGreg
I don't know why, because they've done little to indicate otherwise but i still think the lakers will win this, possibly in 6 even.

I hope not, but both teams are prone to falling asleep for several games at a time. It is good to see the old rivalry reborn.
explodo
I have figured that the NBA was partially rigged for years. It's not always the kind of blanket rigging that this guy is accusing them of (though I wouldn't be surprised by that either, honestly), but what about something like those so-called "Jordan rules"? Maybe that isn't conscious rigging, but they do make certain that the team with the superstar has a handicap, and, obviously, the team with superstar also makes the NBA several times more money. Oh, and go Lakers. They have played like shit. I figure they'll get it together sometime here, but maybe not.
Gobias Industries
Oh, and go Lakers. They have played like shit. I figure they'll get it together sometime here, but maybe not. It doesn't look like it. Gasol looks like a middle-school basketball player out there, he's constantly dropping his man when he shouldn't...it's not looking too good. I'm going to credit Rivers for once for managing the "we-don't-have-Rondo" issue pretty well, the new plan e.g. spreading the floor has really been putting a wrench in the Laker's defense. If Boston pulls a comeback / road win, this series is more than over and Kobe can't get out of the Pit of Doom. Yes, he's a great player, but people will look and see that no Shaq = no Finals rings for Kobe, and that will hamper anything he will try to do.
explodo
It doesn't look like it.It looked like it for about a half tonight. Not so much anymore.
So Long
that was the greatest game I've ever seen. Wow.
explodo
I missed most of the second half due to severe weather alerts cutting the broadcast, but I'd imagine it would have been pretty amazing if I wasn't a Lakers fan.
watch me fall
I was so bored last night I actually watched the game. First NBA game I've seen all year. Definitely a good one and worth it to see Kobe crash and burn. I'm rooting for Garnett, a fellow South Carolinian, and his crew.

That's how our first half was. KC area. I woke up from a nap to see the last 10 min. Shocking to say the least.
fatheadfred
Lakers were fancy nancies last night. Lucky. A true battle of blue collar vs. posers. I'd love to see KG get his shit back on track on dunk on Poo Gashole's face.
fatheadfred
Where does Kobe fit in the MJ argument now? He has done little to show he controls a game when things are tight.
Lammycat
Where does Kobe fit in the MJ argument now? He has done little to show he controls a game when things are tight.MJ always stepped up his game when he needed to. He carried the entire team on his back at times. Kobe seems comfortable being just another key player. I never have got the "Kobe= best baller ever" take. It must come from folks who have never seen MJ, Russell, Bird, Magic, etc., play. MattZ
I understand that Michael Jordan's legend has grown to the point where he may never have missed a shot in his entire career. But MJ just made his team better in a way that I don't see Kobe making his team better. I agree that Kobe can get hot and take over a game in a way that I haven't seen since MJ. But I'd still take MJ if my life was on the line. Every time. Not really even close.
