PeskyJase
The tragedies that unfold during Casino Queen depress me.
coast to coast
this song is the opposite of depressing. I think the fact that Daniel still hasn't been found by True Love makes it a little depressing. Beautiful song though.
giraffo
Rythym (blue has no value, power, hue)Less Than You Think
unposed_question
Ashes of American Flags is pretty depressing to me. I second How to Fight Loneliness and ALTWYS It's interesting that some have mentioned "Reservations". I find that song to beone of the best love songs ever written. bobfrombob
For me I would have to say Hummingbird, saw the cartoon video with the hummingbird shortly after we lost our beloved basset hound,This was my first thought too, although more melancholy than out-and-out depressing. Has nothing to do with the video or the loss of anything......
remphish1
"When The Roses Bloom Again", "Should've Been in Love", "One by One" ,"Sunken Treasure" I think these are the most depressing!
Wilco Worshipper
It's interesting that some have mentioned "Reservations". I find that song to beone of the best love songs ever written. It is a nice love song, but to me the message is you're okay and I'm not and I'm sorry that it's not working...that's depressing. Plus it very much suits my relationship with my ex from Chicago who "gave me" Wilco in the first place...
cooperissup3r
Hummingbird.
rmontbriand
shes a jar, maybe via chicago. definetly something off summerteeth. er...misunderstood? I would agree with Misunderstood. But really, does it matter which song is the "most" depressing when over 90 percent of there songs are depressing? How about the least depressing Wilco song?
sananguy
I kind of confuse depressing and haunting emotionally. Wishful Thinking is probably haunting, but hits that depression button for me. There is no uncertainty about Sunken Treasure
brettac1
Sunken Treasure, without a doubt. Amazing.
Papillon Parade
Venus Stopped The Train is just plain depressing. Please Tell My Brother is sad for me in a very personal way.
unposed_question
I think in general it is meant as a hopeful song, but these lyrics (other than the beginning of Via Chicago and the middle of Sunken Treasure) from Jesus, etc. are the most depressing I can think of in the Wilco ouevre: tall buildings shakevoices escapesinging sad, sad songs
Orbit
I always get chills listening to Via Chicago.

Wilco Worshipper
Perhaps a "most uplifting Wilco song" thread is in order? Bet you wouldn't get as many responses. I'm rackin' my brain right now and can't come up with one. I think some research may be needed here.

unposed_question
When I need a Wilco pickmeup, I turn to "I'm Always in Love" or "A Magazine Called Sunset." By the endof the first song, I'm always 'ooh ooh" ing along with the band. With Magazine, I find myself smiling aboutJeff's ability to connect Sunset magazine to an impossible longing for me. :-)
unposed_question
wind will bloooowww and the sun will shine Holy crap. Did you know this same line appears in the Beatles song Nothin' Shakin'? I googled the lyricscuz I couldn't think of the song. I wonder if that was intentional on Jeff's part.
