VC 'interview' with Tweedy?

Recommended Posts

I'm still getting over the shock of hearing that Jeff actually pays attention to this board.

Maybe a little off subject but I just had this thought that made me very happy...How awesome would Jeff be on the Graham Norton show? As far as interviewers go, Graham is definitely the funniest I've ever seen. I think when Jeff/VC interview question submittal time arrives, I'll watch Graham Norton for pointers on good questions.

Please don't make questions such as "Why are you so awesome," or "Oh my god, I'm just like in love with you and I think your the greatest thing since slice bread?"

It's pretty cool idea to come up with questions to ask him, but in my opinion, I would just let the guy be. He's just the same as you and me, and that is why I enjoy his music a lot. Since on a personal level I can connect to the music and the lyrics.

that's soooooooooooooooo dark and existentialistic (or something). the sooner you realize that Tweedy is nothing like you and me, the better we'll all be. :)

He has actually posted here before.

do you mind if i ask what he was posting about?

I don't recall that part.

I remember. It was something like... "Hey, I'm glad you guys have enjoyed our recent shows. By the way, have you heard about the 0% financing that Volkwagen's offering on the all new and more powerful Jetta?"

;)

"Umm, Jeff? Remember ... uh ..... when you were like in that band Uncle Tupelo, and you, uh, wrote that song Gun, and you said ''cause my heart it was a gun, but it's unloaded now, so don't bother'"?

"Yeah..."

"That was AWESOME"!

Third from the bottom and if you have time you might want to read the entire thread, classic stuff.

That could work.. so the sections would be something like:

- Jeff's side projects

- Jeff's songwriting process

- Jeff's internet habits

- Jeff's parenting insights

etc etc

Right?

And then submit questions, and we vote using the polling feature?

Basiclly thats how id do it. First id elimante questions that would get similar answers (adress same things) and then divide them by sections use the polls to have votes and then me or whomever can submit them to Jeff or how ever it would work. If people like the way this sounds i'm going to start a thread for questions and try and contact Tony M. through his website unless someone else has a better channell for communication (which I'm sure exists).

I WANT TO KNOW HOW HE DECIDES HOW MANY TIMES TO SAY 'NOTHING'

:lol

Here are my questions:

What are some of your favorite records to listen to on tour?

What methods did you use to improve your fingerpicking?

What is your favorite aspect of playing live?

Do you think there would ever be a Wilco archive series released (ie: Neil Young's archives of b-sides and such)?

ok hold up kids.

Sarah your a moderator correct. You wouldnt happen to know what channels I should pursue to make contact in order to set this up?

Secondly lets come up with catorgies for questions and then later this week (wed.) ill begin posting threads to submit questions (just to make it easier to sort through). my internet connection is preety weak at my current location so ll be back on and off until 3 after 9:30 though ill be back and ill sort through all of your ideas and make a list of 10 or so sections and you can all let me know what you think.

Awww crikey! My submitted question was going to be something along the lines of, "We know you dig Henry Miller...what other writers influence you/would you recommend?"

Some of that stuff is in Kot's book such as Tweedy liking William H. Gass a lot ("In The Heart Of The Heart Of The Country and "Omensetter's Luck"), John Fante ("Ask The Dust"), and of course Henry Miller ("Tropic of Cancer" and "Stand Still Like The Hummingbird.")

On a side note: an english teacher I once had said Gass's "Being Blue" was also fantastic.
