Analogman
I have not really heard the album, but I have read a lot about the tour on another message board. Apparently, it was very successful. I think there are plans to do another album (as noted above).
solace
fucking LOVE Raising Sand... but was pretty huge Krauss fan prior i suppose.

solace
their cover of the Everly Brothers 'Gone Gone Gone' from the record kicks ass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8x78Fm4CMWQ
Sir Stewart
Am I the only one who thinks Raising Sand is boring as all hell? I like Robert Plant, but he is full of shit. How many times now has he rehashed Zeppelin on tours with Jimmy Page, and aped the Zeppelin sound with his solo bands? There's no reason they HAVE to call themselves Led Zeppelin now that Jones is on board. If Plant would rather do something else as a musician right now and in the future, that's fine, but why not just say that? I think that's a bit unfair. Page & Plant toured, yes, but with an album of new material under their belt. And Plant has certainly done some awful stuff -cough 'Tall Cool One' cough- but the 3 have never actually gotten together post-Bonzo's death and toured as Led Zeppelin. I think he's both into this Alison Krauss thing and not interested in going too far with LZ's legacy.
froggie
the last hint of a reunion was in 1986, after Live Aid. but Pagey was fucked up and JPJ had other things he'd prefer to do. So good old Bob bailed out
Moss
Let's not forget, it has to be tough trying to tour as the Golden god at his current age. I think he is aging rather gracefully with the raising sand stuff. Probably a bit afraid of messing with the legacy as well. I actually liked his early work with Robbie Blunt. Songs like Moonlight in Samosa, Pledge Pin, and Far Post (Love that damn song) hold up.

Songs like Moonlight in Samosa, Pledge Pin, and Far Post (Love that damn song) hold up.Agreed. There was a bit of filler on the first two albums, but overall they were strong, even if they sound a bit dated now. I bought the White Nights soundtrack just to get "Far Post" on CD. Great song. Until the last couple of years that was about the only way you could get it (I noticed that they added it as a bonus track to the Pictures At Eleven reissue in 2007). Analogman
This is new (that is, this footage has not surfaced until now):
Sir Stewart
That was awesome: somehow more fascinating without sound - a true document.
Moss
Very cool. You always know it's an early clip when Jimmy Page is playing that Tele. He's become so synonymous with the Les Paul.
Analogman
That is the Telecaster that Jeff Beck gave him. The poster sent me a reply to my message to him. He confirmed that he has no other clips. He shot if from the 3rd row using his Dad's 50's 8mm camera. It had no sound capability and could only shoot 5 minutes at a time. He saw them 5 times - 2 more Filmore shows, Central Park and MSG. He says he's been surprised by the response he's gotten. Here is what he had to say about the actual show: "Iron Butterfly was the main act, they were in shock after Zeppelin, the audience went crazy and could care less if Iron Butterfly came on." Below are some AUD shot clips of the It Might Get Loud (documentary): Jimmy at Headley Grange.
Moss
Thanks for the great links. I can't wait for that movie (It might get loud). Those shots of Jimmy listening to "Rumble" are priceless. You can see the shear joy that song still brings him. I know that song had a profound effect on the Beatles as well.
Analogman
What a music collection he has. That is the sort of set-up I need - built in the wall shelving.

Analogman
I'd like to check out Headley Grange.
Moss
Would love to check out Headley. I wonder if those interviews from the links were in his London house (Below). Not a bad pad.
Analogman
That movie looks cool. I have read about it off and on - but I don't think I have read what made the filmmaker bring those three together. It seems like an odd mix to me.

Analogman
Check that boot blog I sent you to a while back. If it's not there, he may put it up for you.
