My wife will be 8 months pregnant at the time of the Dallas show. Would it be too risky to go, especially since the venue is about 30 minutes from our house? I don't think I could do it. :ohwell

Far be it from me to offer friendly advice to a Texas fan, but...if I were you, I'd buy a ticket. You can always sell it if it gets near show time and it looks like your wife will deliver soon. My law school graduation was scheduled a week AFTER my wife's due date, and when it came around she was still showing no sign of imminent delivery--so I went ahead and attended the ceremony with the rest of my family (with cell phone on vibrate, of course). Four days later, I had a JD and a JR.

Both my kids were late arrivals; of course, YMMV...

I guess the days of the Barrymore are gone. That is too bad. While I like Overture Hall for its acoustics, etc. Shows there seem to be sterile there.

Well, Dallas is not quite Fort Worth, but I am not going to complain. Anybody no anything about the Palladium Ballroom?

And I would definitely go to the show even with the eight month pregnant wife, what a great story if she goes into labor during the show. You can easily do the drive back to Fort Worth in twenty minutes if you try and if worse comes to worse I'm sure one of the guys in the band is talented enough to deliver a baby.

Are you delivering at home? If not, the question to consider is how far is the venue from the hospital, not from your house...... I think ephsooner's "buy a ticket and do the risk/benefit analysis in September" advice is sound.

It's been my experience that babies pretty much deliver themselves. You will need to have a bulb syringe on hand to aspirate all the fluid, though. Remember: mouth first, then nose. :thumbup

Thanks for the advice. I'll most definitely buy a ticket and just play it by ear. Chances are I'll be able to go. I even got the okay from my wife already.

I answered my own question. Here is some info on the Palladium Ballroom. Basically they took Giley's, the huge honky-tonk and made it smaller and turned the large part of the venue into the Palladium. General admission, holds about 2800, unfortunately no chicken wire.

I saw The Shins at the Palladium this year. It's a pretty nice venue with ample room to walk around the main floor area. Certainly not as nice or as close as Will Rogers, but it will do.

Wives rock. My wife and I had Wilco tickets during the summer of 2004, but when our daughter was born two days prior to the show, Stacy told me "Go," and she meant it. I went.

She only wanted you out of the house so you would stop regaling her with stories from famous movie childbirth scenes.

Yeah, Rosemary's Baby is not-to-be-mentioned in our house anymore. Damn shame.

Congratulations! Three items for your consideration.

1--If it's your first child, then it's hardly a risk at all. Those first kids take forever to come out. 30 minutes is a world of time to get to the delivery room. By the 8th month you should have your hospital bags packed anyway, so just throw them in the trunk...justincase.

2--Does this venue have any seats, or is it a GA standing thing? If no seats, then her ankles will swell to the size of a drain pipe. Not good times. If seats, but GA...

3--Just get there 15 minutes before doors open and go straight up to the front door. Tell the guy/gal working the door that you really need a seat somewhere and point to the pregnant belly. They will likely let you in straightaway. A phone call ahead of time to confirm this might not be a bad idea. And if you have a reserved seat, just go to the door and do the same thing.

The wife and I saw the boys July 23rd, 2002 at The Pageant in StL. Our first was born 17 days later (8/9). (Good time had by all.)

Don't be skeered.

John Stirrat went to a wilco show when his wife was 9 months pregnant, so I think you can. :thumbup
