OU would destroy Kansas. Actually, we may get to see it in the Big 12 Championship.

The thing about KU this year (unlike other years) is they are playing with confidence. I can tell you that OU doesn't intimidate them in the least. If they can win out and make it to the Championship, I wouldn't take them lightly.

Have you had a look at OSU's schedule? Unless Michigan beats them (Lloyd Carr has sucked against Tressel OSU), they will not lose any of their remaining games.

You're kidding, right? Of course it's possible that they'll run the table, but any one of their remaining opponents (Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan) could rise up and beat them. If their remaining games were against the likes of Minnesota, Northwestern, and Iowa, I might agree with you, but they've got five tough conference games remaining, and the way upsets have happened this year, I frankly don't expect them to walk onto the field undefeated when they face Michigan.

By the way, who are the lunatics who submitted first-place votes for Oklahoma and LSU in the AP poll?

Or, they might really believe one of those teams is the best in the nation. It's not the craziest thing I've ever heard.

The best team in the nation doesn't lose to Colorado under any circumstances.

Or to Kentucky, either -- though that loss is more understandable, and if no other teams were undefeated, I could see voting for LSU as # 1. But that's not the case. Oklahoma -- certainly not. You want to be # 1, you've gotta get it done.

I think the Colorado loss was a complete fluke and apparently one AP voter agrees with me. Yes, I have an obvious bias since I'm an alum, but I don't think it's that much of a stretch to say that one-loss Oklahoma is better than an undefeated Ohio State.

If I were an AP voter I'd like to think I could vote for who I thought the best team was, regardless of record. My best friend is a basketball voter and we've talked about this a lot.

Of course the Colorado loss was a fluke, but it's still a loss. Oklahoma very well may have the best team in the nation, but there's no way you can say that deserve any #1 votes. Colorado is simply not a good football team. I don't even have a problem with the voting biases that are always prevelant, because there's nothing you can do about that. These rankings mean nothing right anyway. It's gonna change a bunch more times, because I don't think any of the current undefeated teams will run the table.

Even as a fan, I have a hard time believing that OSU is the best football team in the country right now. But, be that as it may, they are not only undefeated, but currently holding their opponents (albeit easy ones) to something like -35 points per game. You really can't ask them to do anything more right now. Its October.

I'm on the fence about the UK win over LSU. We really need UK to get a 2nd or even 3rd loss to help our chances in the SEC East. But it was cool to see LSU lose. Probably my least fave team in the SEC. Well other than UT.

Can't believe my Gamecocks pulled off a win after that craptastic performance Sat. Had a good time in Chapel Hill. I am nervous about our lofty ranking, though.

Only 33 days to go.

Agreed....to date, out of 119 division 1-A schools, OSU has the 118 toughest schedule.

I totally understand why LSU received a vote, but I'm clearly biased. None the less, big wins over VA Tech and South Carolina, a complete thumping of a MS State team that has hung in with a UT team and beat Auburn, a big win over a great FLA team at home, and a triple over time loss to a great kentucky team with an amazing offense and inspired defense.

Just don't see the crazy in LSU receiving a #1 vote. Lots of football to play.

Of all the reasons I still haven't completely forgiven my Buckeyes for laying an egg last January (and there are many), perhaps the biggest is that it only added credence to the public refrain of "SEC good, everybody else (especially Big Ten) baaaaaad". I'm not saying the SEC isn't strong right now, and I won't deny that the Big Ten is weaker than I can remember it, but I also think the degree to which this is true is probably exaggerated.

Oh well, such is life. There is a lot of football yet to be played this year and a lot will work itself out as the season goes on, and the rest we will continue to argue about as it has been since the beginning of time in college football, god bless it.

I also just re-read your comment where you are talking about the schedule "to date". I can't argue with that. I don't know why OSU continues to schedule overmatched in-state schools (aside from being a record-padder for OSU and a revenue-generator for those other schools to take away a share of a packed 100,000+ seat stadium, despite whatever butt-kicking they receive on the field). I liked it better the last couple years having a team like Texas on the early schedule. Much more fun that way to find out what you've got early in the year. :thumbup Washington is a better team than their record indicates so far this year, but ah, whatever.

I really don't expect my Buckeyes to be still standing at the end of it all this year, but would love to be pleasantly surprised. Despite the uneven play from the B10 "heavies" so far this year, I'm still not looking forward to OSU's late-season games against Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan. Down year or not--maybe especially in a down year--these conference games are less about bragging rights and even more about salvaging a bit of pride. All it takes is a very public smackdown to radically alter a program's public perception--as OSU learned the hard way last year. All of these teams are still loaded enough to be very dangerous if they can get their heads on straight, so I'm not putting anything in the W column yet.

Rumor has it that Mike Hart may not start and if he plays it may only be in a limited role. I don't like U of M's chances against the Illini w/o the Hart & Soul of the team. If anyone has spare vibes, direct them to the kid's ankle. Thanks.

Oh and

Go Blue!

I knew you would come through. Face it, you and I both want Nov. 17 to be for the out right Big 11 championship.
