DMT? Peyote? C'mon!

My friend that lives out near you (the one who met HST) would tell you a horrifying story about teh jimsonweed. Now THAT stuff is off-limits man.

I voted, though I agree with others that coke seems "less bad" than acid/shrooms. The latter drugs are far more difficult to hide their effects, and they last much longer. Uh yes, you could say that opinion was from personal experience.

In the old days, crack was called freebasing, which I did a few times and basically disliked due to heart palipations. Richard Pryor would back me up on that....

Anything with a needle scared the crap out of me, and I can only say that I wish my brother had remained scared as well.

does smoking coke in sort of a freebase, turned to a liquid, dried, scraped up and smoked fall under coke or crack?

does anybody know if the stuff we called "go fast" in the 80's that burned like snorting sea salt was closer to meth or coke?

edit: edie answered question #1 for me!

On a lighter note, my hometown of Northfield, MN has a relatively hilarious debacle involving corrupt/crazy city government and heroin. Apparently the police chief made the announcement that about 250 high school students (out of a school of 1400) were using Heroin and Oxycontin, not only this but the users were mostly top athletes and honor roll students, and most of the users were $600-800 a week users. This was apparently paid for by stealing prescription drugs from local hospitals (including the Mayo Clinic) and petty theft. The chief was immediately put on a leave of absence (for medical reasons). Needless to say it then came out that the City Supervisor (his boss) was being investigated by the chief, for unknown reasons, that the mayor was maybe manipulating a deal to move a liquor store onto his sons (formerly his) property for their profit, that he also might have owed some money (hundreds of thousands of dollars) to the IRS, that one of the city councilmen was a pornographer by trade and had a Facebook page advertising this all over, and that the city was hoping to bring in the state auditor. Needless to say the heroin/oxycontin figures were grossly over anything that I would believe, or that anyone involved in drug treatment in the area believed (they said something more like 35-50 for those drugs, and normal numbers for pot/alcohol) but it's still unresolved and quite hilarious.

Your town sounds fun.

I think I remember reading about kids getting violently sick from taking that stuff. I think the anticipated effects are on the urban myth side.

Rumor has it that Manson used this stuff (among other chemicals) to warp the minds of his little group. Something he probably got from reading about mind control experiments his buddy Adolf & the Nazis used.

I always just assumed Chuck had a way with words.

If by "violently sick", you mean "dead"...

I've read that jimsonweed is one of the few psychotropic substances that can create true hallucinations as opposed to the distortions of LSD, psilocybin, etc. I've heard stories of one's entire field of vision essentially being replaced- like watching a movie you have no control over.

I have some friends who experimented with it when we were younger. I was supposed to but missed the boat that day. They cooked up about 100 times the recommended dose accidentally and it took them to some scary places. One of my friends never fully recovered. I also met a crazy old fiddle player named Randy who claims it made him nuts.
