W(TF)
Well, I don't know....maybe. It may not make my ultimate top 5 Wilco songs, but I just think CQ is a terrific song any way you cut it. I could do without the gimmicks on the studio version, but it fits anyway. (especially if you're drinking whiskey..) I've been watching the '99 NYC Irving dvd that's posted up now on owlandbear.com, and that performance of Casino Queen is just insane. It's also the best example of the guys harmonizing on vocals really well in that particular show. Check it out if you haven't seen it!
quarter23cd
I gotta admit, I've never really been a fan.
mountain bed
There may be some cringe-worthy lyrics in there, but to me it's all about the riff. A KILLER riff that should always be played at high volume.
Kalle
I agree killer riff but there's something about "I've been gamblin' like a fiend, on your table so green" that just kills me.
Sir Stewart
I gots no problems with Casino Queen.
OOO
I think the more often the song gets shouted out by drunk people, the less often it will be played.
Atticus
casino queen is my personal reminder to myself when I see folks on the VC dissing songs that I hold dear. I've tried to like it, just can't. I understand that some fans love it, so I don't enter threads like this and make 65 days comments like "Casino Queen sucks ass" and then run away. to each her own... c53x12
I like the song, but that was a completely different band than the current Wilco incarnation, so I don't hold out any hopes of hearing it live anytime soon.
cryptique
My lord you're mean.
Basil II
It certainly a better song and closer than............ say, "I'm a Wheel" -robert.
pillowy star
Got bashed several times for this already .........but yeah, "Casino Queen" is one out of my 3 Wilco-Hate-Songs (no I am not listing the two others right now ).
Edie
I like the song, but that was a completely different band than the current Wilco incarnation, so I don't hold out any hopes of hearing it live anytime soon. I think that was the first wilco song I heard on the radio in what, '94 or '95? I loved it then and love it now. They played it in StL last time I was there (spring 06 I think) because Jeff's dad was there and he likes it. If jeff's dad goes to the Columbia MO show next month that would be the best shot, but is by no means guaranteed.
W(TF)
If jeff's dad goes to the Columbia MO show next month that would be the best shot, but is by no means guaranteed. Make a sign, "Casino Queen, for dad".
cmackey34
Never been a big fan of this song... it seems to be lacking something, to me.
So Long
I never understood the hatred of CQ. I think it's a good example of early Wilco.

Scalzunfield
It certainly a better song and closer than............ say, "I'm a Wheel" -robert. I'll take I'm A Wheel or Outtamind to close a show anyday before taking CQ. I still love CQ, but I'd rather hear those other two in a live setting any day of the week. Groo
I love Casino Queen (and I'm a Wheel). Everyone who doesn't is entitled to their own (wrong) opinion.
Bubs101
I think the more often the song gets shouted out by drunk people, the less often it will be played. I do love the song but when I'm sober it wouldn't be in my top ten, but when I've had a few it shoots right up the list. Requested it at a small gig in Italy last month and Jeff politely said " I don't think we'll be playing it tonight" They should definitly add it to there setlist though

cmackey34
I love me some "Casino Queen." Just thought I'd give some love to PigSooie for the Youk avatar... Boston born and raised, right here (Somerville, more accurately) and love to see some other Sox fans with good music taste. Still not a fan of CQ, though.
