Mystik Spiral
The Rockies are scary-good right now. That was the best game I have ever been to, baseball or otherwise. And it was a really fortuitous series of events that got me a seat next to one of my best friends and equally crazy Rockies fan. Sweet justice - Byrnes making the last out of the game. I'm exhausted...

jenbobblehead
great work rockies. too bad about the red sox last night but the indians were ON FIRE! plus, while we're used to Dice K giving up a buncha runs, we're also used to our bats giving a buncha run support, so that didn't happen. Oh well. next game!

Sir Stewart
This is not a good time to be exhausted with baseball. Anyway, congrats Rockies. Pretty cool.
ction
Wakefield is going to pitch one for the ages tonight. Or for the aged. Something is gonna happen.
Chris_H_2
Wakefield is going to pitch one for the ages tonight. Or for the aged. Something is gonna happen. He could give Cleveland problems -- Cleveland doesn't hit off-speed pitches very well (and knuckleballers are tougher on left handers). I would start Beckett and have him throw 80 pitches, followed by Wakefield. Beckett could still pitch Game 7 on regular rest.
Sir Stewart
I like that "risk" ad with Richard Edson that they keep playing.

Sir Stewart
I've been a fan since Ferris Bueller's Day Off. On a weekend visit to NYC in 99, I told my girlfriend I wanted to see one "celebrity" - Richard Edson. And I did. It was pretty wild - he seemed shocked that I recognized him. quarter23cd
Wakefield is going to pitch one for the ages tonight. Or for the aged. Something is gonna happen.Cleveland is going to be defending a lead in game 7 and be one inning away from the World Series, only to see John Elway emerge from the tunnel and lead the Red Sox to a dramatic game winning touchdown in the bottom of the 9th. That's how Cleveland rolls.

Lammycat
Remember when he was the closer? Those were some nail-biting 9th innings ...IIRC, that was '99, mostly, that they used him a bit for the closer. Wakefield had a decent year this year but the strike zone typically shrinks in the post-season. If it's too windy in CLE it probably won't be a good night, either.
PigSooie
I thought Wake likes the wind to blow out when he pitches.
Lammycat
I thought Wake likes the wind to blow out when he pitches.Perhaps. But too much wind and he'll have trouble keeping it in a strike zone, if it's moving ("dancing") the way it's supposed to. Walks=base runners=more stolen bases on him than usual (which is already a good amount). I have faith in the guy, but there are some extra factors that play into it when he, in particular, pitches. I agree. Tonight's matchup is interesting. They can just turn the Jugs off.
